Oh my goodness! I just came on here to post the exact same thing. I'll be two weeks post-op Thursday and am feeling the exact same way! I slept the day away yesterday and today am feeling like I've been hit by a bus. I'm not sore, not swollen, following the post-op diet pretty well and taking all my vitamins, but I am COMPLETELY exhausted!

So today is my day three of the mushy stage. I did really well with the first two days but not really sure how to feel about today. First, I didn't get all my Protein shakes in, only two out of three. Second, I'm not sure the foods I chose were the best. Here's what I had today, can some of you weigh in? Breakfast: Protein shake Lunch: 1/2 cup of turkey chili, not exactly pureed but really really really small chunks that I chewed ALOT before it went down Mid afternoon: second protein shake Dinner: my mother had ordered food out as she was having company, I ate a few pieces of broccoli - just the top part not the hard bottom stem, and a small piece of chicken francaise (Cut and shredded almost like chicken salad) - again neither of these went to the food processor but were very well chewed. Evening "snack": 2 kernels of popcorn, chewed to death! I didn't have any problems getting anything down, it took me a full half hour to each meal. I'm trying not to feel like I made bad choices, but since I didn't eat a scrambled egg or yogurt and apple sauce it feels like I didn't stick to plan and I'm kinds confused. What do you guys think? Also, if salsa is on the mushy food list, would we think bruschetta would be ok? I feel like the little bit of olive oil in homemade bruchetta could be good for my irregularity about now.

Mushy Stage Suggestions
LoriW188 replied to kasper23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just entering the mushy stage tomorrow. I'm honestly petrified, I'm normally a very picky eater and have some sensory texture issues with food so I'm really not sure how I'm gonna pull it off for three whole weeks. The eggs I can do, and applesauce and yogurt but not sure about anything else. I could use suggestions too! -
So, before surgery the 64oz Water intake for the day was basically a walk in the park. After surgery, I am having difficulty getting in all 64oz. I mean between decaf tea, popsicles, water, crystal light, etc - I'm really struggling. I think my fear is gulping too big of a sip, but the other problem is I feel like to get it all in I should have one of those big hats that people use for beer with the straw from the top to the mouth! Any tips for getting it all in? Also, they say you can tell if you're hydrated enough by the color of your urine, mine is clear so should I still be so concerned?

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I managed to get all the protein shakes in today and finished 32 oz of water with two Popsicles. Tomorrow's a new day, will try again!

Thanks for the info! I guess all is well - clear urine and bouncy skin! Yippee! LOL

Oh my goodness! That's.exactly how I'm feeling right now. I'm on day five of my week long post op diet and I can't wait to have something other than broth and water and ice pops, etc. I just said to my mom, I'm going to take my last vitamin for the night just so I can chew! Lol

Just wondering how long it was for everyone post-op to have their first bowel movement. I'm only two days out and was told if I don't go by Monday I should call the dr. What's everyone's thoughts?

Week, surgery was Thursday and all went well! I'm home and a little sore, mainly at the incision where the port is but other than that I'm feeling good. I'm finding that I'm really not hungry so I haven't really gotten in much other than water and my protein shake. I get to shower today, too, YAY!!!

So this week has been a roller coaster. I am scheduled for my surgery on Thursday September 20th! This week, I had to start my pre-op diet, not liquids only but pretty strict high Protein. I'm on day three and cheated today with some sausage and potato dinner my mom made a few days ago. I ate about a cup of left overs. Feeling guilty now, but felt like I needed a carbohydrate to get through the rest of the day. Carb or bed at 6pm - with a four yr old running around, I chose the carb. I'm trying hard not to beat myself up too much, but really wish that I hadn't had it. Are the stories true that surgeons have gone through surgery without implanting the band and the patient woke with no band? I'd hate for one set back to make that happen for me. Aside from today, yesterday I went bridesmaid dress shopping for my best friends wedding next May. Talk about a struggle - we found a great dress that everyone loved, but I had absolutely no idea what size to order. I ended up ordering two sizes smaller than I am now. The dress shop said I could have it taken in two additional sizes or worst case taken out one size. I feel like I made the right choice but we'll see! Has anyone else ever been in this situation? How did you handle it? Also, I am finding that I am not as completely disgusted with the Protein shakes as I thought I would be. I've only tried chocolate so far, but it's not too bad! Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!

Thanks everyone! Today's a much better day. I realized after I wrote this that yesterday (the cheat day) I didn't have the half cup of oatmeal in the morning, so I technically skipped a meal which is obviousy why I felt so hungry and in need of carbohydrates later in the day. Today I wrote everything down and placed a check mark next to my requirements. MUCH better this way! And a lot more Water - I used more Crystal Light yesterday than just plain water, today the plain water is filling me more I think. Who knows?! Maybe yesterday was just an off day and none of that make sense, LOL! Still counting down, three more days!!!!!

That's the office I got to, too! I see Dr. fresco only because Dr. reich is not in my network, but I was told he will probably be in the OR with Dr. Fresco. The office is great!

Do You Ever Feel Judged Because You Are On The "smaller" Side?
LoriW188 replied to jessicakesbanded's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can relate to this a bit. My BMI is only at 38 and I don't have any other comorbidities so some people that I've mentioned surgery too will say that I'm obviously too small for it. But I have a really supportive family and the Dr's are working to get me approved so I as long as I have that support and my mind is made up, I don't worry about it! -
So I am tentatively scheduled for surgery 9/20. I have a bunch of appointments to get clearance from the actual surgeon's office, and some for the insurance for approval. Right now, or shall I say at my first appt my BMI was at 38 - when i got home and used my scale my BMI was 40 (Go figure!). Well, the insurance requires a BMI of 40 or greater, or a BMI of 35-39 with a comorbidity listed. I went to my primary dr Friday to get everything checked and my former hypertension issue wasn't apparent. I'm at a loss bc I don't know what else they will look for as a comorbidity and worried now that I'm "not fat enough" for insurance to cover. Two years ago when I went for my initial consultation, I had high blood pressure, insomnia, and depression listed as my comorbities but I didn't want to be medicated so my Dr can no longer use those. Any suggestions from anyone?

Oh, I'm feeling like maybe I should've waited and went when my BMI was up a little. I can't self-pay either. I guess I have to wait and see!
