    Was THAT dumping? (Wine related)

I drank a whole bottle of wine yesterday over the course of several hours and right before I was about to go to bed I had loose stools. I'm 5 months post op and was playing video games and this was my first time drinking this much but yup I was off and on the toilet all night and this morning. Alcohol did that to me before surgery but it usually didn't happen until the morning. I learned my lesson and plus I didn't eat while I was drinking and I'm sure that made it worse. I don't consider it dumping though.

    ? about dehydration

I always look into the toilet after I pee and that's how I know if I need to drink more water. I struggled with drinking before surgery and now I make a conscious effort to drink 15 oz before meals and sip on water throughout the night. I pee a lot and often but thankfully it's clear and no longer dark orange. I don't think I answered your question but if you are only using the bathroom every 4 hours through the day, then you're not getting enough water.
  3. Thankfully my insurance covered the surgery 100% but if it didn't I'd fly to Mexico and have it done.

    Facial Hair F!

I haven't had to deal with an increase in facial hair after surgery. I finally got tired of plucking my chin hairs so I started seeing a electrologist to get the chin hairs permanently removed and now I'm hair free on my chin and she also does the fine hairs on my lip area. I'm not a hairy person by any means but unwanted hairs drive me insane. Look into electrolysis because that is the ONLY way to get your unwanted hairs permanently removed. I see her every 2 weeks and it cost about $30 for a 15 min session, it's so worth it.

    drinking while eating

The thing that I learned is to drink lots of water before my meal and this keeps me from getting thirsty after eating something salty. Since we still have our pyloric valve we can drink right before a meal and be fine. I can tell when the water has left my sleeve. I drink a 15 oz glass of water and then 5-7 mins after I'm done drinking I eat and I'm not thirsty again for another hour or two. The thing that I noticed is if I drink 30-45 mins after a meal I tend to get hungrier sooner and the full feeling doesn't last as long as it does if I drink before. I'm 5 months post op so it only takes me about 7 mins to drink a 15 oz glass of water.

    How did they close you?

I had only one incision at it was in my belly button. My surgeon used glue to hold the incision together and I didn't have a drain.

Use Your First Six Months Wisely

You were the one who mentioned that you wanted to get down to 150, not me! If you were already skinny as you said then why would you want to lose even more? Also why do you keep saying that you eat nothing? I think you're the only person on this forum who says that because I've seen people say that they hardly eat anything, but nothing? nope, only you. I take every post as literal especially if they don't put in lol or just kidding or not srs. I didn't notice any sarcasm font. If the sleeve only works for the first 2 years then we should all expect to be obese again, according to your thinking. Heck why did any of us bother to get this tool if it only works for so long. Only a idiot would mention something as silly as exercising for 4 hours as soon as they pop the baby out. Like I said earlier you didn't add a disclaimer, so me and others had no idea that you were just kidding. Thankfully now I know not to take anything that you say seriously from this point on.

Say what you mean and mean what you say! No where in your post did you say "just kidding" or "not serious". It's not my fault that you didn't feel the need to put a disclaimer. Now that you're being called out on your BS advice and subsequent post, now your back peddling. Some newbies may take your advice but thankfully now they know that you were just joking around. You should of said that several pages ago smh

Use Your First Six Months Wisely

LOL obviously you have it ALLLLLL figured out smh. Trust me when you have a baby the last thing on your mind will be spending endless hours in the gym working out. Sleep and caring for the baby will be your MAIN priority. I don't get why you're shocked that you're able to eat a whole sandwich considering you are pregnant. I can eat a little more than people who were sleeved around the same time as me because I breastfeed and exercise regularly. I metabolize my food quickly because my body requires more calories, same with pregnancy. You will also find yourself hungry more often. You basically did a crash diet to get yourself to goal quickly and now you're freaking out because you actually have to eat food like a normal person? That's another reason why it's not good to starve yourself to make it to goal, you haven't learned anything about fueling your body or proper nutrition. Your negativity towards those who haven't made it to goal after a year of being sleeved, is also uncalled for. You even admitted yourself that you weren't happy at 160, so technically you're not/weren't at goal either. I wish you the best with your pregnancy and future exercise goals but I'm sure after you give birth you will realize what a lot of us moms realized which is, things are definitely not the way you expect for them to be.

    Down there?

I started my period about 5 hours before surgery so I had to wear those fancy netted panties with a huge bulky pad. I probably did shave a week or 2 before surgery but I wasn't worried about it being hairy or anything. Now that I'm post op I get waxed every 4 weeks. Also they told me not to shave.
  12. I agree with OTR! a properly shaped sleeve would be extremely hard to stretch and it will never be able to hold the same amounts of food that it did before surgery. Usually when someone over stuffs their sleeve they vomit or feel a ton of discomfort. If a person really wanted to sabotage themselves and their weight loss they could do this with slider foods ( milk shakes, mashed potatoes, etc,) but this stuff leaves the sleeve fairly quickly and wouldn't be in there long enough to stretch it, same with liquids. The only thing that does stay in the sleeve for a while is Protein but if you over eat that you will more than likely vomit. The thing that does change is gastric emptying. Your stomach becomes more efficient at mushing the food up and sending it through the pyloric valve. There's a really good article about it but I'm too lazy to find it right now. OP hopefully your surgeon will be able to find out what's going on. I dealt with the dizzy spells but then I started eating more frequently and I've been eating 5-6 meals a day. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon.
  13. Yup I still get cravings and can eat a little more before my period. I tend to be very hungry the week before but once I start my appetite is gone

Use Your First Six Months Wisely

Once again this thread makes me want to vomit (not literally). I can't stand the self righteous behavior either, or the "my way or the highway" or "if you don't do it this way, you will fail". Threads like this reminds me of why I try to stay away from this website.

    Slow Loser here +---+

There's no such thing as being a slow loser. I used to think that but I've only seen maybe 2 people who I agreed with who are legit slow losers IMO. Heck I used to consider myself one but I see there are several Oct sleevers who have lost the same amount as me, so now I consider myself a average loser and most other people are average also. Plus I always feel like the word "slow loser" has a negative connotation to it. Of course there are some people who are able to lose quickly but they are "fast losers" and the rest of us are average and a very few are legit slow losers but those people are extremely rare.

    protein drink before or after

I eat carbs before my workout and drink a protein shake after. I'll eat a yogurt or a pancake before my workout because I need the quick energy and the protein after is for recovery. So far so good. Protein shakes are way too heavy to drink before a workout IMO.

    Any spider sleevers out there?

My belly button did start to get a little stinky and sweaty after it had healed but I put a cotton ball in there for about a week to keep it dry (I changed it often) and it eventually went back to normal. I think I developed a yeast infection in there because when my belly button area swelled from surgery, it basically closed the opening to my belly button and I would sweat in there. The cotton ball absorbed the moisture and kept it dry but I didn't start to put those in there until I was about a month post op and fully healed. Other than that I'm really happy with the one incision

    Any spider sleevers out there?

I've never heard of it referred to as a spider incision but I had the single incision in my belly button and the pain was minimal. Of course there was some discomfort after surgery but by the time a week came around I wasn't in any pain. I can't even see the incision since it's in my belly button but I can feel where they cut if I stick my finger in there. I'm so glad I went with the one incision. Oh and I didn't have a drain either.

    DEPRESSED!

Be patient One of the main things that I've learned during this journey is to be patient. One of the most important things that I noticed before surgery is that there are several different types of losers lol. You have the slow losers, the sprinters who make it to goal in 6 months, the sprinters who putter out when they get within 30 pounds of there goal weight, slow and steady losers, etc. I for some reason before surgery expected to be a sprinter...........um didn't happen lol. I'm a slow and steady loser, averaging about 1-2 pounds a week. I could of NEVER of done this without the sleeve, hell I tried for YEARS. I also had to remind myself that the weight didn't come on over night, so I shouldn't expect for it to all vanish instantly Also don't compare your journey to others. This is your journey and try to learn as much as you can and deal with the mental part as you lose. I always remind myself that it's not a race.

    can i take advil?

Isn't the no NSAIDS rule for Gastric bypass patients? I heard that rule doesn't apply to sleevers. I took 2 advils before my Brazilian wax appt about 2 weeks ago lol. A lot of people get the sleeve so that they can continue taking NSAIDS. I hate pills so that was my first time taking any meds since surgery.
  21. I can't really remember where I was at 2.5 months out but I'm still eating the same amount that I was during that time. I still can only eat 1 chicken wing. The thing that has changed the most is fluids go down quickly, even protein shakes. Protein shakes used to take forever but now I can drink a 10 oz shake and not feel stuffed but my hunger is definitely gone by the time I finish and I have zero desire to eat anything for at least 2-3 hours after. My sleeve isn't picky and nothing has given me problems. I can eat spicy and sweet food. Grapes give me cramps though after I eat about 6 lol. I'm sure once you get around the 4 month mark you will be able to eat more, just give it time I'm about 10 days away from being 5 months post op and can only eat about 2-3 oz of dense protein at a time.
  22. When I did track on MFP I wouldn't add condiments either but I did weigh my food. It all came back to being obsessive which has never helped me shed the weight in the past and I definitely don't expect to realistically be a calorie counter for the rest of my life. My NUT has me doing what is similar to intuitive eating but yet I still follow basic rules like eating protein first, not drinking with meals, not drinking caffeinated or carbonated beverages, getting in 80+ grams of protein, exercise, drink lots of fluids, etc. For my obsessive personality this is all that I can handle. She also stresses to me that it's not a diet and not to fall back into my old yo yo dieting habits. That's probably why I'm rarely on this website anymore. Peoples post tend to trigger me into my unhealthy ways of thinking about food and I'm in a good place, so I'm probably gonna go back to lurking or abstaining

    Hunger between meals

I eat 5-6 meals a day. I eat every 2-3 hours because when I skip meals I tend to stall also. I don't really feel hungry but I can definitely tell when I need to eat because I start feeling a little dizzy or sleepy. I also try to drink about 12 oz of water before my meal so that I'm not thirsty soon after I complete my meal. My last meal is right before bed (I can't sleep when my body is hungry) and I put a glass of water next to me and I drink that throughout the night.
  24. When I was keeping track of calories which I do sometimes but it's pretty rare I was eating about 1400 cals but myfitnesspal would take into account that I breastfeed and exercise regularly, so my total cals would equal about 200 some days but that's only after you subtract exercise and breastfeeding. On days when I don't exercise I get in 1400 cals. but then MFP subtracts 300 for breastfeeding and it averages out to about 1100 cals. The thing that stalled my weight loss was when I would go very negative, meaning when I would eat about 500 cals and then exercise and be at a 1000+ calorie deficit. Now I've learned to fuel my workouts and not starve myself. I thought I needed to eat 700 cals or less to lose but that doesn't work for my body and I just stall. Sometimes you have to feed your body in order to lose the weight counting cals stresses me out and I find myself restricting and becoming obsessed......not good!. My NUT also doesn't want us counting cals and to focus on the plate method. When I don't count cals I actually lose because I'm focusing on what my body needs, instead of focusing on the number of calories that *I think* I should be eating. I'm just rambling on and on lol. I also feel restriction with carbs. I can eat about 2-3 oz of Protein at a time, so about 1 chicken wing or 1 drumstick and that's it.....I'm full.

    post op w 3 babies

I have 3 kids and my youngest was barely a year when I had the surgery. She's small and weighed about 17 pounds and I started picking her up when I was about 5 days post op. My surgeon didn't talk to me about not lifting and told me to listen to my body and I didn't have any pain carrying her. I didn't walk around with her a lot but I did pick her up and hold her often. My older kids I didn't pick up though because they weigh about 45 pounds. My husband is in the Army and left to go to school when I was 2 weeks post op and I didn't have any help but being a Army wife for 9+ years you tend to get used to doing it alone. I'm not one for planning and I much rather wing it as I go along, that's just my personality
