  1. I'm pretty sure that's what will happen to me. All the women in my family have naturally large breast. When I was a size zero my boobs were a DD and that was with the old sizing and I think today a DD would be an H or I. I now wear a K Thankfully my insurance covers plastics and I will definitely need a lift and a VERY slight reduction. I don't want a total reduction because I'm used to large tatas 8)

Should I Tell The Inlaws About My Surgery?

I'm not telling my inlaws. My MIL called me a fat arse a couple of days after I gave birth to her 1st grand child, I weighed about 180 lbs, size 12-14 pants. She has a very explosive temper and she's bipolar. She's been tall and skinny her whole life. I married her only child and I haven't talked to my MIL in years because she's so unpredictable with her temper. If my husband wants to tell his mom that I've had surgery, that's fine but I wont personally be doing that. OP it's up to you what you decide to do in the end but good luck in whatever you decide.

Whats Better Sleeve Or Ru En Y?

The thing that made me decide on the sleeve was the fact that I'm only 27 and the thought of living with malabsorption for way longer than most RNY patients scared me. I've had a bowel obstruction before and it was way more painful than child birth and I've given birth twice without pain meds (by choice). It was so bad that I had to be pushed around in a wheel chair because walking and standing up straight was excruciating. I don't want my intestines rearranged because I don't think it's natural to have your new stomach attached to the small intestine. The sleeve sounded like the least invasive but I do get scared of having staples in my stomach for the rest of my life :/ To me the sleeve was a no brainer. The DS is too invasive and the band creeped me out because it's a foreign object that could slip and then most people end up getting it removed. Good Luck OP in whatever you decide

    Birth Control Pills And Surgery?

I'm so happy my hubby is getting snipped on the 3rd because as soon as we get the all clear I'm done with birth control. Plus I hate the pill because it makes me so hungry but I should be off of it by the time my husband gets the all clear and before I get surgery.
  8. I'm wondering if he dined in or ordered it "to go" lol.
  9. I was approved and I meet with the surgeon 7/25 whoop whoop!

  10. Welcome SensationalsassyT. I'm a military wife also and plan to have my sleeve performed at a mtf. I can't answer the other questions about the benefits of having the sleeve, since I haven't been sleeved yet. As for the naysayers I haven't told anyone that I plan to get the surgery except for my husband and the lady who I met at my kids bday party who had the sleeve. I haven't shared with anyone the fact that I'm getting the surgery because I don't think it's any of their business. I'm not trying to be private but I see it as a personal health decision and I don't have to share my health or choices with anyone. Plus when you share your plans then people take it upon themselves to put in their 2 cents lol. I don't want the negativity from my family so after the surgery is over and done with and I start dropping loads of weight then I may share my choice with them but it all depends

    Introduce Yourselves!!

Hi everyone. My name is Carly and I've been a Army wife for the past 8+ years. We are stationed at Fort Carson, CO and I'm praying that I qualify for the vsg on post at Evans. I see that there are other wives who are/were planning to have surgery there and I would so love to know how everything went but unfortunately it appears that the post were made several months ago and I don't' think the accts are active. I'm excited and sorta scared about the surgery but I've been yo yoing for the past 10 yrs and I obviously can't do it on my own. I feel like my diet is pretty good but I just can't manage to lose the weight because something in my body is screwed up hormonally. Losing weight with diet seems almost impossible and I was averaging about 2 lbs a month and god forbid I screw up, I'd easily gain 5 lbs. It was so easy to undo my hard work. I talked to my pcp on Friday and he put in the referral to the wls clinic and I'm praying that I can get an appt sometime in the next week so that i can start the process. Good Luck everyone

    Will Tricare Approve Me Now?

Like you discovered you will have a better chance of getting a VSG at a military facility. It definitely sounds like you qualify but each MTF has it's own set of qualifications. From what I've read you don't have to work with Tricare in order to get the VSG as long as you're on a MTF. If all goes as planned I will be having my surgery at the mtf where we are stationed. My BMI is 41 and my friends BMI was 37 and she had her VSG done on post. Good Luck to you. Praying everything works out for you.

    African American Sleevers

I see that you've already been sleeved congrats!. I can't wait till it's my turn but I think the earliest I will be sleeved is December but supposedly things move quickly and my friend said that it only took her about 3 months from the time of her referral. The surgery does kinda scare me because it's permanent and the stomach that they remove is gone forever, also considering that it's a new procedure makes me worry about the long term side effects but I've tried every type of weight loss program out there and I think this procedure is my only hope in the long run. How has your recovery been? Are you still on pain meds? Are you able to lift things? I'm just worried about the recovery and how long it will take to feel back to normal.

    African American Sleevers

Hi everyone I got my referral today and I'm just waiting on the call so that I can schedule my appts before I get the surgery. In all actuality I shouldn't get my hopes up yet but I'm pretty sure I qualify since my BMI is about 41. I've been watching my carbs lately but I haven't tried to lose weight because I'm afraid of going below the 40 BMI range and then having to have comorbities, which I don't :/ I am expecting to have hair loss after the procedure because after I gave birth to my 3 kids my hair became really thin around my edges but after about a month or two it started to grow back. I've never worn a wig or weave before but before the surgery I plan to buy a wig just in case the hair loss is very significant lol. I have very thick hair and it would suck to lose 50% of it like some of the other people experienced but I'm guessing that i will probably lose about 5-10% :/
  17. I got my referral :)

    Keeping Surgery A Secret.....

This is a very good question and I'm not sure what I plan to do but so far the only people who know about me starting the process of WLS is my husband and this lady that I met at my daughters bday party who said that she had the procedure. I honestly didn't consider having the surgery because I thought I had to be much heavier in order to qualify but it turns out that since my BMI is 40.3, I qualify. I do have a feeling that my family will be judgemental and I have to admit that in the past I was judgemental of those who had WLS but now that I'm going down this path I totally understand. My aunt had WLS (RNY) back in 2005 and she mentioned it constantly and would always make rude comments about our weight now that she was skinny but in all fairness she was a very rude person before the procedure. I don't see myself lying to anyone about how I lost the weight, especially if the person is obese like I am/was because maybe they haven't considered all their options yet. I'm glad the lady at my kids bday party mentioned it because I honestly would of stayed in my cycle of losing a few pounds and then gaining more. In my family they are extremely judgmental about weight and I remember from a very young age them always saying how "big" me and my sister are. I don't feel like I owe them an explanation about what I'm doing health wise and the fact that we live a 30 hr drive from them makes it easier. Also when it comes to my facebook friends I don't see myself making a huge announcement and if anyone ask I will send them a PM. It's not a huge "secret" for me but I just feel that I don't owe anyone an explanation. Sorry if that doesn't make sense

    What Goal Weight?

E-girl- You look stunning in your before and after pics. I weighed about 140 in high school until I got on depo and gained 40 lbs and this was what started my weight issues from that moment on. When I was 140 I was a size 9/10 and that's a good size for me considering that I have wide hips. If I can get somewhere in between 120-140 that would be great. Oh and I'm 5'3 3/4, almost 5'4
