I couldn't post much earlier but yesterday I consumed the lowest amount of carbs since surgery, it was probably around 30g total and that's pretty low for a person who is breastfeeding. I'm starting to think that's why I tossed and turned a lot last night. Other things that could cause insomnia is a low calorie diet and that's what most of us are on especially during the losing phase. For some reason low calories and low carb tend to give me a ton of energy and I sweat like crazy when my body goes into ketosis and then comes the insomnia and waking up super early and hungry. I guess the thing for me to do is keep my carbs around 40-60 and eat a small amount of carbs before bed. I can't add in too many carbs or else I will start getting cravings. I'm not sure if this is why you have insomnia. Hopefully it will get better in time.

I eat 5-6 small meals a day about 1/4 of a cup each, that's usuallya bout 2 oz of protein and after that I'm stuffed. I don't even bother with plates I use a bowl or saucer (sp?), our plates are too big.

I try to eat right before bed and add a little bit of carbs and that seems to get me tired. If my last meal is 2 hrs before bed I tend to toss and turn like I did last night. I think I fell asleep around 11pm and I was in bed by 10p. I try to limit naps during the day also

Daily Calorie Intake And Protein Bars
Banned member replied to suzqlvq's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks out and I've been eating regular food for a while. I don't keep track of calories but I mostly eat protein and very little fruit and carbs. I do have some atkins protein bars but they have tons of carbs and sugars, so I haven't even bothered eating any of them. I do keep a running total of how much protein I've eaten. I'm also breastfeeding so I probably get in around 700-900 cals a day and about 60+grams of protein. Sorry I can't offer any advice :/ -
Work Out Regimen
Banned member replied to alexis1408's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walk 2 miles 3-4 days a week. We have lots of hill where I live. I'm 4 weeks post op so I haven't started lifting yet. I also lift heavy and I probably wont be able to do that until I'm at least 7-9 weeks out from surgery. I might have to just settle for the 5-10 lbs girly weights lol but it's better than nothing I plan to start running once I get the all clear but it's too early for that. -
Around 2.5 weeks out I started feeling great. I've been walking 2 miles 3-4 times a week now and haven't felt weak or anything. Of course I get tired but I just walk very slowly and take my time, hey it's not a race have you had blood work done to check on your vitamins? I was low on vitamin D and I've been walking outside getting some sunlight and my energy has picked up. Hopefully you will feel better soon.

Anyone Else Have A Goal Size?
Banned member replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goal is a size 4-8 I don't want double digit clothing anymore lol. I currectly wear a 18 at 240. I will probably have to get down to 130ish to fit in a size 4. I'm probably more excited about being able to ditch Lane Bryant clothing in a couple of weeks -

Not Taking My Vitamins
Banned member replied to ctaylor86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take "Flinstone Complete" chewable vitamins. I take B12 once a week. All my labs have been normal and my NUT told me the flinstone complete is all that I would need. -
Has Anyone Had Their Period During Surgery?
Banned member replied to fgotr121's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep track of my periods and I was scheduled to get my period the day of surgery! Gosh that sucked. I started my period right on time and the only thing that I noticed was that I bled a lot more because of the blood thinner shots they had to give me every 12 hrs. The nurses helped me put on pads after surgery because it was hard to do with a catheter in place and those leg squeezing thingies lol. It wasn't that bad but I think the timing was horrible. I hate pads and they said that I couldn't wear tampons. Also I wasn't allowed to take a shower while there. Once the catheter was taken out and I was allowed to use the bathroom on my own, it got really gross because they had to measure my urine and of course it was blood floating around in that catch pan thingy. Plus not being able to wipe well it was blood all on the toilet seat from me. It was disgusting but oh well, they all knew I was on the rag and didn't make a big deal about it. Thankfully I had my own room -
What's Your New Addiction?
Banned member replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the same day as you minnie and my new addiction is working out. I've been taking it easy and walking 3 days a week for at least 2 miles but I can't wait to start lifting. I'm not a shopping kind of girl but I may become one once the weight is gone. -
Me and my husband waited until about 6 days after surgery. I had the single incision (belly button) and experienced zero pain when we had sex missionary style. I was too tired to be on top lol

Barium Test- How Did Your Stomach Feel
Banned member replied to Lollyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kept vomiting, so we had to keep stopping and doing the test over and over again. It was disgusting and I pray I never have to take that test again. -

I skipped the puree phase because it didn't sound appealing at all and I went straight to soft foods. I'm on regular foods now and I eat my protein instead of drinking it. Protein shakes go right through my sleeve and they don't fill me up for that long but when I eat protein I stay satified for a while. -

When I'm constipated like that I do a full squat. Sitting on the toilet to poop when constipated is absolute torture. Doing a full squat where your knees are up against your chest and your butt near your ankles makes it easier to pass stool. If you were out in the woods you would do a full squat and I don't think the porcelain throne is a natural way to sit while pooping. I have a squatting platform that goes over the toilet, works great especially when you have to take a monster crap -
Probably wont be as active on this site as I was pre-op. I'm finding myself wanting to live my life like a normal person and not being consumed with sleeve sleeve sleeve! I'm thankful for all the support that I've gotten but I feel like I'm all sleeved out for a while and I don't really feel like talking about it everyday or making constant post about it. Take care everyone

Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?
Banned member replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, I do Food is delicious but once I'm satisfied/full I have zero desire to eat more. If I eat too much my sleeve tends to cramp and I find myself moaning and it's uncomfortable. I've learned to stop eating before I become full but I still really enjoy food and I haven't had any issues with anything, except for grapes. -
Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?
Banned member replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still newly sleeved but I've been on soft foods for several days now but I have found myself less obsessed with food. My mind is freed up from thinking about food constantly or that next meal. I can go hours without eating and not feel like my blood sugar is plummeting like it used to before I was sleeved. Once I eat and become full I no longer have the urge to take another bite. I've also become used to the idea of not finishing everything on my plate, my dog has been eating a ton of my left overs lol. -
Laying On Stomach
Banned member replied to mrs sandy r's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the hospital I slept on my side and would switch sides every time I started feeling uncomfortable, which wasn't that often. I've been sleeping on my stomach since I was about a week post op. I had the single incision (one incision) where they only go through the belly button and recovery has been very easy. Hopefully you will start feeling better soon -

Today I'm feeling pretty good. My NUT called me a couple of days ago to tell me that the only vitamin that I was low on was Vit D (sunlight). I have to admit that I'm a home body and that's probably my problem. Well for the past 2 days I've been sitting in the sun for about 20 mins a day and I'm feeling great. My energy level has picked up and I'm not feeling so down. next week I start my outdoor walking routine. I have a treadmill in my garage but that becomes boring. I can't wait to get the all clear from my surgeon and then I plan on going to the gym to lift weights. I've been eating soft foods and some regular foods, the only thing that doesn't agree with my sleeve is grapes. My restriction is definitely there and I still have to drink at least 1 protein shake a day to meet my 60g protein per day requirement. My clothes are getting loose but I have no idea how much I've lost but I should know next week because I meet with my surgeon My goals are to get more sunlight and to become a gym rat again -
I Don't Have Apple Sauce! Gerd Question
Banned member posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm supposed to take my Nexium pill with apple sauce but my crazy kids ate my last one behind my back lol. I was wondering what other people take their GERD meds with? I ended up taking mine with a tbsp of apple juice today because I couldn't find anything else :/ -
Kidney Pain With Protein Shakes?
Banned member replied to joe_cltnc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup that's why I only drink 1 protein shake a day (32g protein). My other protein comes from meats, cheese, and other high sources of protein. Plus protein shakes tend to upset my stomach. How far post op are you? -
Scared After Pre Op Appointment
Banned member replied to cosmogirl70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was terrified after my appt where I had to sign a bunch of papers. I just kept thinking put one foot in front of the other. I felt like I was going through the motions. I just tried not to think too much about it and all the post op people did a great job at calming my nerves. I'm now post op and am so happy that I got the sleeve. I have 3 kids and was so scared to be the 1 person to die but I just did my best to stay positive and not think about the what ifs. Try to stay positive -
How Often Should I Weigh?
Banned member replied to weezer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh myself at docs appts only because I tend to get obsessive about the number. It ruins my whole mood if the number goes up and I dont feel like being on that roller coaster again.
