When Did You Have A Bm Post Op?

Well I was peeing out my butt hole for the longest time after I got home but I had my first soldie poop around a week after surgery. I have to take colace in order for my poop to remain soft or else I get very constipated. I take 2-3 colace a day.

    Very Nasty

Wow how scary but it's good your surgeon wants to observe you for the next couple of days while you're in the hospital. I puked up blood a couple of times while in the hospital and it sucked so bad. I thought I was going to rip my staple line from all the vomiting but thankfully the nausea went away once I stopped taking the pain meds. Pain meds make me vomit.

When's A Good Time To Exercise

The best time for me to exercise is in the morning. I wake up at 630a and make breakfast. Send the kids off to school and by 9am I'm dropping my youngest off at hourly care for 2 hours. I usually start my walk around 930a. I walk 2 miles outside and then I go back and pick up my kiddo. I prefer to walk outside, we do have a treadmill in the garage but it's too boring. When I had 1 kid I used to workout at night after my husband got home from work. Mornings work best for me. I walk 2 miles, 3 times a week.

    Breastfeeding After Vsg?

^^^She had her surgery in 2011. I'm not sure if she had a csection with her delivery but if she did they can give her meds that wont affect her milk and are safe for breastfeeding moms. Kellymom.com also list narcotics that are safe or unsafe while breastfeeding.

    Breastfeeding After Vsg?

Also the reason why I wasn't producing hardly any milk after surgery was because I went 2 days without breastfeeding and before surgery I had her down to 3 feedings a day, so my milk supply was already low from weaning. Once I came home and was around her my boobs started leaking. I didn't leak or become engorged the whole time while in the hospital but coming home and being around my baby started making me produce milk again. Now she nurses about 6 times a day. I drink lots of water

    Breastfeeding After Vsg?

My daughter just turned 13 months old and I continued to nurse her before and after surgery. I didn't breastfeed her during my 2 day hospital stay but once I came home I started up again. My calories don't affect my milk supply and the first week after surgery I was barely producing anything but I just kept putting her to my breast and eventually my supply picked back up. My advice is to keep putting your baby to your breast as much as possible and soon your supply will catch up. I also don't pump, so I have no idea how much milk I'm producing but she seems satisfied and I feel the let down which is a really good sign that I have a good amount of milk. Also breastfeeding is about supply and demand, the more you breastfeed the more milk you will produce and don't supplement with formula until you've built up your supply. With a newborn baby they are going to want to eat every 30-60 mins. Just keep switching breast after every feeding. I've breastfed all 3 of my kids until they turned 13 months old. Also I still have fat reserves on me that my body can tap into if my cals are low. Also check out the kellymom.com website it has a lot of good info about breastfeeding and calories, etc. I haven't looked at it in a while but basically it says that calorie intake doesn't affect milk supply. Your body will find a way to produce the milk. Good Luck

    Depo-Estraidol Injections

I never had weight problems UNTIL I got on depo and it made me gain 48 lbs and I only had 2 shots. It made me very hungry. Definitely watch your calories while on it. No one could pay me to ever get a depo shot. I always wonder what my weight would of been if I had never used it.

How Much Did U Lose U First Month

I think I lost about 16 or 17, the weight loss is in my signature. I feel like a slow loser.
  10. Whenever I experience that feeling I just raise my arms above my head and that tends to make me feel better. I just cross my arms across the top of my head. It may sound silly but it works for me

What Did You Pick The Sleeve?

I didn't want the malabsorption and I wanted a surgery where I could keep my pyloric valve. Lap Band wasn't even a option for me because I refuse to have a foreign object in me because I was scared of my body rejecting it. Plus I didn't want to deal with dumping and having to chew food to a puree for the rest of my life with gastric bypass.
  12. I had just turned 28 when I was sleeved and I wish I would of known about it sooner but oh well. I personally wouldn't want to experience a pregnancy after wls so I'm happy that I gave birth to 3 kids before getting it done. Sorry I didn't answer your question.

    Hair & Dogs

I have a great pyrenees who is 3.5 yrs old and OMG she sheds big time. It drives me insane. I love to wear black and her fur is like cotton and it sticks to everything. I take her to the groomers about once a month to have them get most of the shedding hair. She's such an amazing dog though and extremely loyal. I've had her since she was 5 weeks old and she actually fit in the palm of my hand. Now she's a large breed q-tip lol. I'm not shedding yet (knock on wood) but I'm sure it will suck.
  18. where do you buy this at? Is it something that you drink everyday or is it only when you're constipated?

Use Your First Six Months Wisely

lol about the poster who said the OP statement was "factual". OP is entitled to his or her opinion but that doesn't make it true or right for everyone else. I'm sure OP wasn't saying that everyone should follow what they did but it would suck if someone felt the need to starve themselves just because it worked for someone else. I guess since most of us have been at one extreme of the weight scale, they may tend to think that going to the other far end will be better. I worry about what vicious cycle this could lead to such as anorexia, bulimia, etc. What happens when people get into the habit of starving themselves every time they gain a pound of water weight? Just because we all are/were fat that doesn't mean that we are immune from developing eating disorders. I'm sure I'm not the only person that cringed while reading the OP. I do agree that you should try and maximize weight loss during the 6-12 month period after getting sleeved but I don't think starving or telling someone that they should exercise for 4 hrs is the way to do it. JMO. I hear from a lot of vets that during the weight loss phase you should aim for around 800 cals and that to me sounds a lot more reasonable than the under 500 cals advice or the person who mentioned you can survive on water only. To me it just doesn't sound like a "way of life" lifestyle. I don't know about anyone else but I've done the crash diets and I couldn't sustain them in the long run and that's what the advice sounded like coming from the OP, one big crash diet or a quick sprint to the finish. I just feel that if I crash diet to goal, I wouldn't have learned a damn thing about what it takes to be healthy and deal with my issues when it comes to food. To each their own I guess

    Full Body Lift?

I haven't had a LBL but the thing that sounds most appealing about it is the fact that it corrects several things at one time. I will need a tummy tuck, thigh lift, and butt lift. The LBL can incorporate all these procedures without me having to do each one individually. The thing that worries me the most about it is the recovery. I really HATE surgery and the recovery but after giving birth to 3 kids my body hasn't bounced back and I have a apron and lumpy thighs. It will be nice if my weight loss will correct this but I doubt it. I told my husband that we will use one of our tax refunds for the surgery. Also I will need a boob lift because they are saggy :/ Good Luck

    Weight Watchers

I'm sort of doing Atkins but I do eat fruit so that I can have some healthy carbs. I don't count cals or anything but I focus on eating protein and avoiding processed foods like mashed potatoes, etc. I hate the insomnia it causes but when I add in processed carbs I stall and gain a little in water weight. Oh and Atkins makes me grouchy and gives me insomnia but it's the only thing that works for me. The good thing is that it gives me a ton of energy during the day, no need for caffeine

    Hungry

My husband bought me a pack of m&m's about a week ago and of course it ran right through my sleeve, felt zero restriction. I had a talk with my husband about the fact that he can't buy me stuff like that. My other weakness is fruit snack gummies and I purchased those for my kids to eat but of course I found myself munching on them also, thankfully my sleeve didn't like them. I guess like others I had to learn the hard way and I realized that I can't have stuff like that in my house, even if it's for my kids. I don't want to fall back into the old habits that got me to where I was at my heaviest. I guess what I'm trying to say is keep your trigger foods out of the house, that's whats working for me. Just learn from this and keep moving forward. Learn how to cope without food. Keep your head up
