    Depo shot after the sleeve

I NEVER had a weight problem until I got on depo. I had 2 shots total and went from a healthy 140 to 188! It made me so hungry all the time. I ate like a normal person when I was 140 and I continued to do the same thing with depo and the pounds just packed on. I probably wouldn't of been in the situation of needing surgery if it wasn't for the shot. I personally would never get the shot again and I do not recommend it for anyone, especially if you have a weight problem. I'm so thankful my husband got a vasectomy so that I don't have to worry about hormones

    Stomach flu

I had it a couple of days before Thanksgiving. My 2 daughters were puking and had diarrhea while I only have diarrhea. We didn't take any meds and we just let it take it's course and believe it or not you tend to feel better faster when you let your body do what it was made for which is fighting illnesses (unless it's something very serious like cancer). The stomach flu only last for about 24 hrs and then it's usually gone or not as bad. I grew up without health insurance so we rarely/never went to the doc and we usually just toughed it out at home, heck I think the only time I go to the doc is if I need a pap smear, other than that I stay home and just ride it out. Get some chicken noodle soup and ginger ale and you will be fine.
  3. I got your beat! I take TWO colace a day lol but I've had constipation problems often in the past.
  4. I noticed that when I get in my 60+ grams of protein I'm not hungry during the day and my cravings disappear. Also I noticed that I don't feel as bloated when I get in my protein. The only downside is it makes me constipated :/

    Slow Weight Loss

I'm a slow loser also. Tomorrow will be the 10 week mark and I've lost 28 lbs since surgery. I know the weight will come off eventually and I surely wont be one of those people who sprints to the finish line but I will get there. My clothes are getting loose so all my weight lifting and walking several miles is paying off. Yesterday I was so happy because a pair of jeans that I couldn't even fit 2 yrs ago fits comfortably! I don't need the scale to tell me that I'm making progress or headed in the right direction. I'm just gonna keep doing what I've been doing which is exercising 3 days a week and getting in 60+grams of protein a day and the rest will fall in place. Good Luck eveyone
  6. I buy it at GNC but I'm sure you can find a place over the internet.

    11 weeks out

People don't seem to be as excited about the inches I've lost but tend to focus on the number of pounds that I've lost or lack there of *sigh*. I'm a slow loser and I guess everyone expects for me to have lost 40 lbs already but nope. I'm definitely shedding fat because my clothes are getting loose and my muscles are sore which also makes me retain Water. I do feel discouraged when people focus only on the weight that I've lost, so in order to stay positive I'm just going to keep the number to myself. My husband has been extremely supportive and still doesn't know how much I weigh or how much I lose from week to week. He left for school before Halloween and came home the day before Thanksgiving and kept commenting on how much I've lost. I had only lost 10 lbs when I saw him again but he was shocked at how much smaller I was and that makes me feel good because toning and losing inches is as important as weight loss, if not more important. Heck I'm even nervous to meet with my surgeon because I don't want him to be upset about how little I've lost, it's probably an irrational fear but I'm still worried about it :/ ETA: my husband went back to school shortly after Thanksgiving and will be home right before xmas and I've lost inches since he left again. It's good to know that all my exercise and lifting heavy weights are paying off. The pounds might not be melting off but I'm feeling good and confident

    Period During Sugery

I started my period the day of surgery. I keep track of my cycles so I had a whole month to freak out about the perfect timing of my next scheduled period. I wore a tampon to the hospital but once i changed they gave me a pad with those fancy netted underwears lol. It was horrible thought because I couldn't clean myself and needed assistance with changing my pad because of all the tubes from the catheter and those leg squeezing thingies. It sucked but oh well

How Long After Surgery Did You Wake Up?

After surgery I remember waking up in a room with several beds (probably about 15 total). I remember not feeling to well and the nurses trying to find the right pain meds to help me feel comfortable. Once the meds kicked in and I was feeling better I remember them wheeling me back to my room and I slept a lot but I probably woke up enough to keep hitting the morphine button every 7 mins. I seem to remember a lot more than my friends. Even after they gave me the calming meds before surgery I still remember everything after that and being wheeled into the operating room and chatting with a resident. I remember getting onto the OR bed and them putting the mask on my face. It wasn't scary at all because the meds did take the edge off when it came to anxiety.

    African American Sleevers

Good Luck to all those getting sleeved in the next couple of days. I love my sleeve, even though I'm a slow loser.

    New Sleevers With Little Ones?

My baby had just turned 12 months old when I was sleeved and I picked her up because she weighs about 18 lbs. I didn't stand holding her for long periods or walk up and down the stairs while holding her but I didn't have any problems. I only had one incision so I just made sure that she kept her little feet away from it lol. I have 2 other kiddos also 8yo and 5yo. My husband also left for school when I was 3 weeks post op and he's been gone since. I'm so thankful that I had a very easy recovery, especially since I didn't have much help.
  13. Isopure is what I like. I buy the 3 pound jug of the dutch chocolate powder. It has 50g of protein per serving (2 scoops) and is about 220 calories and 3g of carbs. I like the taste a lot and I mix it with milk.

    October Sleevers-How Ya Doin?

Same here. Yesterday I purchased some isopure because I've been slacking on my protein. Over night I lost a pound......coincidence? Maybe! I'm praying that upping my protein will help the weight start to melt off again.

    Pre Workout....powders Or Food?

I eat carbs before my workout and this is the only way that I'm able to actually run and not feel tired. I purchased some isopure for after my workouts and to drink daily because I'm struggling to get in my protein.
  16. Before surgery I had the thermostat set at 74 degrees and that was warm enough for me and I was actually hot but didn't want to freeze my kiddos. Now after surgery I have the temp set at 77 degrees and sometimes I have a hard time falling asleep because I'm cold. I was thinking about getting a heated blanket but I'm sure once my husband comes back home from school he will keep me warm

    Breaking Stalls!

I went out and purchased some isopure shake powder (50g of protein per serving) and I'm hoping it will help me break my stall. I don't think I'm able to eat enough protein for all the exercise I've been doing plus I'm breastfeeding. I'm praying this takes me out of being in the slow losers club

    High Sex Drive

I'm Jewish, I guess I should go read the Tanakh lol. My husband wont be home until the 19thish but I haven't noticed a change in my sex drive. He can't keep his hands off of me lol. He's been gone since the 27th of October. Gotta love the Army *sigh*. Once he comes back home though we are like teenage kids wanting to do it every chance we get . I haven't noticed any changes in the "self love" department

    Running Is Fun Again!

We live at a little over 6000 ft elevation and it sucked so bad trying to build up my stamina when I've lived below sea level for most of my life. GMAN I pray that I'm as active as you when I'm 64 Keep up the great work.

    Frustrated...2 Wk Stall

Are you about to get your period? My stalls tend to happen 2 weeks before my period. My stalls have been fairly predictable and like clock work I always stall after ovulation and before my period. Once my period comes the weight starts to drop again and then it will stall once ovulation comes.
  22. I'm 5'3 and my goal weight is 140. My surgeon hasn't set a weight goal for me.

    I've Cheated!

The same people who judge me for how I've lost my weight, are the same exact people who judged me for being fat!!! It's a lose lose situation and I've learned not to care what others think. I usually get a sad face from people who found out that I lost my weight with wls but that's fine. Would it make sense to say a person cheated if they used financial aid for college, NO! So why is it cheating when I want to better myself?

    Worried...

Is it possible for you to go to the gym before work? When I had a job that's what I did because I would be too exhausted after work. For me the first 3 weeks are the hardest when it comes to finding a routine with exercise. I felt as if I was going through the motions and looking for an excuse not to do it but I stuck it out and now I love it. I look forward to going for my morning run, lifting weights, and feeling the burn My advice is to start slow. I started with a 2 mile walk outside 3 days a week. The treadmill is extremely boring for me so I do my cardio outside in the fresh air and I take my dog with me. Two miles on the treadmill would kill me mentally lol. Just start moving and you will probably find out that you like exercise. Oh and I'm praying that I can avoid the saggy skin also because I hate surgery and the recovery. I'd much rather not have plastics but I know with 100% certainty that I will need a boob lift. If only there was a way to get those girls back up nice and perky without surgery, I'd try it I also want to avoid bat wings. Good Luck.
