The longest stall in the 1st 6months?
Banned member replied to ArtSong's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you exercising? I haven't stalled but I am a slow loser. Even on my slow weeks I still manage to lose at least a pound or 2. I exercise 4-5 days a week and get in all my protein and fluids. I don't count cals, carbs, protein or anything for that matter but I do drink 2 protein shakes a day. -
T'was the night before surgery, and I got my period
Banned member replied to 2013isit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started the day of surgery. I had to wear a pad and those blood thinner shots made me bleed even more. I also had to ask for assistance when it came to changing my pad because I was hooked up to a lot of stuff. Also being in pain and not being able to wipe properly sucked so bad and the toilet was a mess. Thank goodness I didn't have a roommate because the bathroom was disgusting :/ The nurses were very understanding and professional. -
So happy my husband got snipped in August!

Anyone have a stomach virus post-sleeve?
Banned member replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup I've had it twice about a month apart each time. It made me crap my brains out. for at least 24 hours. -
Gosh I hope I don't come across as a meanie. The one person who I thought was a meanie was banned about a week or 2 ago but other than that I usually just stop reading comments that have the potential to ruffle my feathers. I've done enough arguing on birth boards and have zero desire to do that here. I always try to see it as people are entitled to their own opinion and sometimes it's hard to word things nicely. VST is pretty tame compared to other online forums that I've visited. If you want to see some drama or mean people then google "body building misc" and read that forum, those people are crazy! lol

What's more important, water or protein?
Banned member replied to mommyradd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I was at the same amount of weight loss at 7 weeks out. I just reached 3 months post op on Jan. 2nd. I still drink 2 shakes a day. I use the isopure Protein powder and mix it with milk. One serving of isopure equals 50g of protein and the milk adds protein also. Plus the milk is a good way to get in Calcium and vit d. I exercise so that tends to make me thirst and usually right after I drink a Protein shake I become thirsty and drink a large glass of Water. I loved water before surgery but now if I drink plain water it takes forever for me to drink it, so now I mix it with g2 gatorade powder and the water goes down a lot better. I also don't count my carb intake because I need carbs for my workout and overall energy throughout the day. I probably get around 60-100g of carbs but I don't keep track of anything because then I become obsessive and as long as I get in my protein I hardly have room for anything else and my cravings are gone with proper protein intake. My advice is be patient and it will come off over time. I've come to the realization that I wont be one of those people who sprint to the finish line and realistically I probably wont reach goal until I'm about 1 year post op. According to my "target weight" app I should reach goal around early September and hell that's good enough for me, considering I've NEVER reached goal before. Try to stay positive. -
I think I am a slow loser...help!
Banned member replied to alisha29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also a slow loser but the main thing that keeps me from grazing is getting in my protein and literally after that my cravings or need to eat constantly is gone. Also making sure you are getting in your fluids will help. I love water but after surgery I'm finding myself having to mix it with something because it helps my body digest it quicker and I can drink faster. I mix my water with g2 gatorade. I also exercise and this takes away my appetite. My advice is make sure you're getting 60+ grams of protein, drinking lots of fluids, and exercise. When I do those 3 things I tend to feel better. Once I started getting in my protein I stopped stalling. I may be losing slowly but week to week I'm losing. I weigh every single day because it keeps me accountable. I use a iphone app called "target weight" and I'm able to see my weight loss in a graph form, it's also good to see a trend. -
Do anyone have any great ideas on toning the arms befor the loose skin kicks in.

Lift weights! challenge your muscles by skipping the 2 and 5 pound dumbbells and pick up a 15 pound dumbbell instead Focus on working out your triceps, biceps, shoulders, etc. I don't know if all this will prevent me from having bat wings but I am confident that my bat wings wont be as bad as they would of been had I not started lifting weights. Good Luck -
Just How Much Is Everyone Exercising?
Banned member replied to Ready4success's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I workout 5 times a week now. I run/walk 3 5k's three times a week and for 2 days a week I do a 1 hour spinning class. I also lift weights once a week. I really enjoy working out so I'm having so much fun and I love seeing the inches come off and my muscles reappearing. -

My husband left for school 2 weeks after my surgery and it was me taking care of 3 kids. My baby girl just turned 1 when I had surgery and I didn't have any problems picking her up when I was 4 days post op. She weighs about 18 lbs and I also continued to breastfeed her after surgery My 2 older kids I didn't pick up until I was about a month post op and that was only for a couple of seconds. I don't think I had any lifting restrictions.

UPDATE ON OCTOBER SLEEVERS WHERE ARE YOU
Banned member replied to chris54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a slow loser but weighed in at 221.6 this morning and I'm losing about 8 lbs a month and I'm so happy. I've also been running 3 5K's a week and I've started attending spinning classes twice a week with my friend I want to get down to about 145 and I'm pretty sure I can reach that goal sometime around my 1 year surgiversary. -
It taste like chocolate milk to me
-
I use the Isopure dutch chocolate powder which has 50g of Protein for 1 serving (2 scoops). With my shakes I mix them with milk and milk has about 12grams of protein. For one shake I only use 1 scoop (25g protein) and mix it with 1 cup of milk, which adds up to 37g of protein total. I wish I would of done this soon after surgery because I wasn't meeting my protein goals and I think that's why I didn't lose so much in the beginning. Isopure is also low in calories and carbs (2 scoops equals 200 cals and 1 or 2 carbs). ETA: Instead of drinking all 50g at once I just break it up into 2 servings. I mix it with 1% milk and it's a good way to get my Calcium.

If I don't get in my Protein 60+ grams per day I stall or lose very little. I find it hard to get in my protein through food and sometimes I just don't feel like cooking and need something simple like a protein shake. Drinking Protein shakes also helps keep my cravings under control. I also tend to make better food choices when I get in all my protein. I drink a shake for breakfast and lunch and that gives me 74g of protein. I don't have any cravings for junk after that and tend to continue eating protein for the rest of the day. I will have a least one protein shake per day for the rest of my life ETA: I also breastfeed and exercise regularly so my protein demands are pretty high.

I started seriously walking around 3 weeks and I would walk 2 miles 3 times a week. Once that started to become easy I added on more distance. I will be 3 months post op on the 2nd and I now walk 5K's (3 miles) 3 days a week but in 2013 I plan to really focus on jogging the whole 5K. I also lift weights once a week and my friends wants me to start taking 2 spinning classes with her a week. I'm going to start working out 5 days a week. I would say start slow and slowly increase over time.

General Anesthesia question?
Banned member replied to jamari's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To put me to sleep they put a mask on over my mouth and nose, then after I was completely out they inserted a tube down my throat. I could hardly talk after waking up because my throat was so dry. -
I can't remember exactly but I probably started around the 8-9 week mark. I hadn't lifted for months before surgery but I lift heavy. I like to feel some sort of muscle fatigue around the 5th or 7th rep. I worked with a personal trainer a couple of years ago, so I mostly use his program.
-
that's exactly the reason why I workout and lift heavy

I buy the dutch chocolate powder and it taste really good 50g of protein for 1 serving. I purchase it at GNC.

Whats your fav breakfast?
Banned member replied to twinsmama05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually the first thing that I drink in the morning is my isopure shake mixed with 1% milk (33g of protein). If i start my morning with a shake my cravings are under control for the rest of the day. My other favorite breakfast is scrambled eggs with cheese, ham, and salsa. -
Bathroom problems?
Banned member replied to biddykm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mix powdered fiber in with my protein shakes and haven't had any problems since. My butt used to BLEED from my poop being so hard and larger but now I poop 1-2 times a day since I started adding fiber. I've had constipation issues before surgery, so surgery just made it even worse. I use "Equate brand fiber powder". You can add it to anything. -
I had fried chicken a couple of days ago and didn't have any problems. I had surgery 10/2

A Piece of Cake
Banned member replied to My relief's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had problems with any food. I can eat whatever in moderation but I tend to stick to a high protein, 100g or less carb diet. I started eating regular foods around 2 weeks post op.
