Don't be afraid, Mirena is AWESOME! I am not going to lie, the insert hurts but it is literally momentary pain, then for a few days following I had period like cramps then I was fine! Personally I love the freedom of Mirena... I always forgot to take BC pills with my Mirena I dont even have to think about it... I don't even do self checks, DH swears he can feel the strings when we... But I donno... I know it is still there and in position bc I just went to my biannual OBGYN appt and they did a quick ultrasound to check the placement. -

I didn't know that obesity could cause PCOS.. I was initally diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19... I still haden't gotten my period so we went to the drs and they had no answers so then I was refered to my reproductive endocronoligist and he diagnosed me with PCOS... I was in a healthy weight, he said I probably have had it forever, he also believes it is herditary (apperently some drs will argue this) My mom cousin and sister all have it and on my dads side 2 of my aunts have it and they beilieve my cousin has it as well... -

I have PCOS... and Hypothyroidism... I feel like this surgery has been my saving grace with my weight... Before no matter what I did I could not for the life of me lose weight, I am very fit, even at my heaviest weight. With the amount of time I used to spend in the gym I should have lost the weight on my own. It was the PCOS and Hypothyroidism. I have the Mirena IUD so that helps with my periods (I don't get them at all) and hopefully losing weight will help me concieve another baby. It took my DH and I 2 years and 2 miscarrages to convieve our son and then after trying for baby #2 for a year with 2 miscarriages and no success, I decided it was time to do something more. Thats when I decided to stop trying to concive, I saw my surgeon July of 2012, got Mirena (to prevent unplanned pregnancy durning weightloss) Aug 2012, then got my Sleeve done 12.12.2012... I am down over 50lbs and I couldn't be happier!!! In March of next year I am going to have my Mirena taken out and see what happens with my cycles for a few months and begin charting and temping while using condoms, then if all goes well in June DH and I will hopefully start trying and FINALLY I will get pregnancy with baby #2...With my surgeons and OBGYNS blessing to try at 18 months out! But this surgery has been awesome! Sorry for writing a novel! -

Ima Loser replied to NCsleever63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Here is the link to the summer challenge...: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/73185-challenge-1st-day-of-summer-weigh-in/ I participated in the Spring Challenge so I made one for summer... -
Tonight for dinner I am making cheesesteak stuffed peppers... My Husband has been trying to eat healthier and he has been craving philly cheesesteaks for a couple weeks now, I found this reciepie on pinterest so we are trying it tonight... This will actually be my first attempt at eatting red meat... I havent eaten red meat since before surgery. I am not a big fan of red meat. I figure the Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers will satisfy his cravings for a cheesesteak and it will be alot healthier then take out!

Shape wear - yes or no?
Ima Loser replied to onelessfatgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Spanx are my newest bff! I have always worn them, but I love them even more now... They hold in all the jiggles! While I know for a fact they don't help firm me up, they help me look good and stay confident while I work my ass off (litterally) in the gym to firm it up on my own... -
should I go to weight watchers?
Ima Loser replied to Iweeny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did weight watchers before my surgery and I havent stopped since... I feel like it is an awesome program and it helps keep me accountable. I also feel like I will have a built in plan once I am done losing. I think WW will def keep me maintaining my weight! -
I always measured soup... When you drink/esat the soup you wont feel much restriction so I always measured it... Volume not weight... I was told by my Nut and Dr that everything should be measured by volume not weight... Think of it this way... A 5lb bowling ball takes up ALOT less room then 5 lbs of feathers... The weight is the same but the volume is VERY different

It depends on how dense the food is as well.. Soup is going to seem to fill you less then a chicken breast... Eatting a 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes will definately fill you more then the 1/4 cup of soup. Once you move on to solids it will seem like you get sull MUCH faster... I can't even eat 3oz of chicken. I had a grilled chicken breast the other night for dinner... My dinner litterally consisted of: 2 peices of THIN asparagus, a forkful of mashed potatoes and 3 cut up peices from my chicken breast (maybe 1/4 of the small breast fillet) I notice when I eat soup for lunch I can eat much more, even if I eat a chili for lunch I can eat much more then a more dense food... Hope that helps, I didnt mean to ramble on and on...

Un-supportive friends/family?
Ima Loser replied to samantha(:'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure it is jealousy... I have dealt with backhanded compliments... My sister in law is infamous for them... Recently she saw me and said "Ugh you are getting all skinny, you b***h" I just shook my head... Then she continued to make obvious comments all night until HER best friend literally had to tell her to stop being a Hater... Sometimes I think people make comments with out thinking though as well... My best friend of almost 18 years is a heavier girl... She made a comment about how great I look but then added "I guess I better get my ass in gear" I know she didn't mean it in a nasty or malicous way at all it was just her own insecurities coming out! This comment bothered me for like a week... Then I asked her about it and told her it was bothering me and I felt it was a little backhanded and she was so upset that I had felt that way... She didn't mean it like that at all and she said she was just motivated by me to get her own ass in gear... I believe her becuase she is literally my biggest supporter aside from my husband! -
Ease my mind? Can I tear open my new pouch?
Ima Loser replied to trs111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate when people are sarcastic to an honest question... TECHNICALLY your stomach isn't a pouch... I don't think it is easy to rip open... I slept in bed (on my stomach after day 3) rolled around picked up my 3 year old (day 5... dont reccomend this...) and I am fine! -
how much can you take in?
Ima Loser replied to pammie37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eat 2 oz every three hours rather then eatting 3oz every 4 hours! That should help... -
If you don't want to go simply tell them no... If you want to go, do your research adhead of time and go somewhere with really good french onion sould and just eat the broth!
-
I love Spanx, I wear them most days... I wear the high waist panty... I seriously have loved them since after I gave birth and I started having more hanging skin

What did you tell people?
Ima Loser replied to jmendezrn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like I work in an office similar to yours, I basically told them I am really watching my diet and using portion control and working out (which is all true), No one has questioned me at all... They have only told me how awesome I am doing... Honestly I dont think people pay as much attention as you would think to what you're eating... As for ordering out, just bring your food to work and tell them you are cutting back to save for a new wordrobe after you lose weight
