Unexpected Post Op Changes
Ima Loser replied to jh5497's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I feel like it goes either way when you are over weight, either you don't really care about make up or there are the girls that go way over board with it. I just keep it simple. I always wanted to try some new stuff though -
I have PCOS and I have Mirena... My OBGYN actually was the one who reccomended Mirena after I told him I was having the Sleeve Procedure done.

Tina, Your post was beautiful! Congrats! I am sure you have worked very hard to get where you are and will continue to do so! Rock on Rockstar!

I have to tell you, I could have written you original post 2 months ago. In July I made the desicion that I wanted to get the LapBand. I scheduled the appointment with my surgeon for a consult. Luckily he goes over all 3 procedures. After leaving my cosult I was still pretty set on the LapBand but I was interested in the sleeve. The Surgeons office called my insurance to verify I was covered and I had to do a 3 month Medically supervised diet. Let me tell you it was the best news ever in hindsight. Before my first Nutritionist appointment I started to really start having second thoughts about the LapBand. I thought about how sick I was when I was pregnant wth my first son and I know for a fact I want another baby. One of the big risks my surgeon discussed with me was the risk of slipage from vomiting. I also started to think what if I get new insurance that doesnt cover fills... And do I really want this thing inside me for the rest of my life?!? So I started to research the Sleeve. I came on this site (was on lapbandtalk before) and really read what people had to say the good and the bad and at my first nutritionist appointment I made my descision to get the sleeve. I have my last NUT appoinment on Oct 22 then everything gets submitted to insurance and I wait for approval. I am already scheduled for my surgery for Dec 12. I am really excited! And I am actually really glad my insurance had me wait 3 months becuase had I been able to get approved right away I would have gotten the LapBand and I feel like that would not have been a good procedure for me!

I still wear heels but they aren't nearly as comfortable as they used to be... I am most looking forward to shopping for clothes and not getting upset. I want to be able to buy a great wordrobe for work and be able to shop off the clearance rack if I want to!

I feel like one day I just decided to get the surgery... It was like oh I think I will get Lap Band... Then I scheduled the consult with my Suregon and he went over all the procedures and I settled on the sleeve... I am getting it done on 12/12/12

I actually just got the date 12/12/12 randomly... LoL

Something I've Been Thinking About
Ima Loser replied to Pinky Green's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have asked my surgeon about the whole soda thing. He said anything is really fine in moderation. I am not a big sweets person. I never have been. Usually I drink unsweetened iced tea and water. However occasionally I do enjoy a small fountain coke. This is few and far between. I asked my surgeon if after my sx I will have to give this up completely and he said no. As long as you don't over do it on the soda you will be fine. -
What Are You Going To Do After You Hit The Reset Button?!
Ima Loser replied to urboyp's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want to buy a GOOD professional wardrobe. I work in Insurance and I have to dress in business attire. I always feel like I look funny in my clothes because I am so heavy and my body is so unproportioned. I want to be able to follow the fashion advice I give to all the normal size friends. I no longer want to be the fat friend. I want to actually play softball at my company’s annual softball outing next fall and not just be a spectator I want to go to Six Flags and no be nervous about rides. I haven't had a problem yet but I always get nervous. I want to be a good example to my son. I feel like I encourage him to eat healthy and I want to be a healthy example for him to follow. Children are cruel and I never want my son to hear someone say his mom is fat. I want to really live up to the Trophy Wife that my husband already feels that I am. I want to no longer always be "trying to lose weight" I want to walk into a store and shop off a clearance rack if I want to! -

I Am So Frustrated Right Now!
Ima Loser replied to Christi_W's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you try to look her up online... How long ago did she leave... Very strange for a Doctor to just up and leave with no notice and no info for patients at all -
I agree it seems like December is so far away! But it will be here before we know it!!
-
I am scheduled for Dec 12th

Hahahaha I keep saying this same type of thing to my husband... He always has called me his trophy wife... And I kind of dislike that phrase, but now that I am closer to my surgery date I keep joking to him that soon he really will have a trophy wife LOL Luckily he still says "I already have one"

Hating My Body Even More?!
Ima Loser replied to GeauxForIt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel EXACTLY the same way... Lately I have been feeling realy down on my body and finding even more flaws all the time... Its funny becuase right before I opened this I got a company wide email about our Annual Softball game asking who was playing and who was being a "cheerleader" I was litterally texting my husband saying how at next years game (in OCtober) I hopefully (fingers crossed) I won't be too embarassed to play! Lately everytime I look at myself I am just disgusted! -
Wls Is Taking The Easy Way Out
Ima Loser replied to Raven21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't feel like this is the "easy way out"... Nothing about being overweight is EASY! I would say for the vast majority of us getting WLS is not the first attempt at weight loss... Most, if not all, of us have tried TONS of other things to lose weight with little or no success. So now we are chosing something that works for us! It is what it is people who make comments are either jelouse or they know nothing about the struggle it is to be over weight in a "hyperskinny" world! -
OK Great! I was nervous about the pre-op diet... I mean if I had to do one I would but I just wouldn't be so happy about it! I love Irina... I think the service that Dr Chau's office provides with the nut visits at no cost to you is awesome!
-
Thats AWESOME!!! 27-30lbs since surgery! Way to go!! Did Dr Chau require a pre-op diet?
-
Mirium has already been VERY helpful! She has already scheduled all of my appointments for me and my surgery due to the fact that I have already met my 2012 deductible and I really wanted to get my surgery done by the end of the year... I have my last Nut Appoinment at the end of Oct then she said she will submit to my insurance that day. I tentitively have 12/12 scheduled for my surgery but if my insurance approves fat we can move it up if Dr Chau has openings. Dr Chau has been great so far too. Initally I was so set on the lap band, however, after reading things on LapBandTalk I was leaning more towards the sleeve. I called and left a message for Dr Chau and he called back that day. I had a list of questions about the sleeve sx and he answered them all. He didn't make me feel rushed at all. Everyone in that office is so plesant and helpful! I have heard such awesome things about the new Princeton Hospital too! I am actually so excited!!
-
Hi I am also having my surgery done with Dr Chau at Princeton Hospital! How was your experience?

I work in insurance. I know for a fact that Horizon BCBS of NJ does not count your copays towards your MOOP (Max Out of Pocket) Where are you from and what insurance do you have... Each plan even within 1 company has dramatic differences... Your best bet is to call the certification department of your insuance company (member services don't always have a definitive answer) and ask them. Write down EVERYTHING Date and time of call and person you spoke with and ask for a confirmation or call id number... Most Insurance companies will give this if requested. Then you know your account was noted for your call and save all of this info until you recieve you EOBs after surgery... If this is not correct then you have all of the information you were given from your inital call. Oh and if the person you are speaking with seems unsure call back again and ask someone else!!

My surgery date is 12/12!!! So excited! Can't Wait!!

But I Do Wanna Be A Size 6
Ima Loser replied to Texarkolina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I completely agree to a certain extent! Anyone who says they are ONLY doing it to get healthy is being a bit of a bull $h!ter! Don't get me wrong, I want to be as healthy as I can be and be a healthy example for my son, BUT that being said I want to be a single digit size! I want my body to be properly proportioned. I am 5'4 1/2 (5"5ish) I have a small frame. I am petite and I carry all of my weight in my stomach. Literally I have to fit a size 18/20 in my waist and an 8 in my legs! So needless to say the day I slip on a pair of jeans that seriously fit me like a glove in all the right places the entire mall will hear my excitement! -

I am in Bordentown NJ... More Southern/Central... It would be awesome to keep in touch... I was going to do the Lap Band as well, before going to my consult with my surgeon I was fully set on it. Then he felt the sleeve would be good for me. I did some more research and now I am set on the VS! Do you have a surgery date yet?
