I just put some hot water and a drop of Dawn in my cup, close the lid, and shake like mad with the ball inside. Rinse and put upside to dry.

How did they close you?

Stitches on the inside, glue on the outside. -

I can drink ten cups and not feel full! :-) Clear Liquids will not fill you up. No way, no how. Are you early post-op? If so...just wait until you can add solids. You won't feel a whole ton of restriction until then.

Just curious about waiting time from eating to drinking
Aaron in Tulsa replied to fonally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can drink all the way up until my first bite but then I can't drink for an hour after eating. Every doctor is different, but this works for me. -
Any Oklahoma Sleevers
Aaron in Tulsa replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was offered the packages but declined. Since I had no complications, I'm glad I declined. If I'd had complications, I might feel otherwise. :-) -
Any Oklahoma Sleevers
Aaron in Tulsa replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery with Dr. Broussard Oct. 30. I tried the support group at Bailey in Owasso and thought it was pretty much worthless. I'd love to go to the meetings in Edmond but I just can't take a half-day off work every month to go to those. So for now, this forum is my support group. I also stay in touch with Chris (nutritionist) frequently with questions I might otherwise bring up in a support group. -

Eating and drinking together

I have been instructed to wait an hour after meals before drinking. But every nutritionist is different. -
Eating and drinking together
Aaron in Tulsa replied to Sumsuz68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drinking while eating causes the food to exit your stomach more quickly, which means you feel hungry again too soon. There's no physical harm to drinking while eating, but it makes it a lot harder to lose weight. -
Will I be able to eat spicy foods?
Aaron in Tulsa replied to NurseDee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no problem tolerating spicy foods. I'm three months out. I do, however, have a problem tolerating spicy foods with nothing to drink, and since I can't drink while I eat anymore, that's a problem. So I mostly avoid spicy foods. -
Do men need to take an Iron supplement?
Aaron in Tulsa replied to mikeross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take iron but that's because I can't stomach the multivitamins with iron in them. So I take a gummy multivitamin without iron and then an iron pill. -
Weird Stuff Going On

I'm on Protonix and started having reflux a week or so ago. Called the doc and he started me taking two a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. That fixed it. I'd call the doc if I were you. -

vitamins & biotin
Aaron in Tulsa replied to nicoleco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got so sick of calcium chewables and gummies after a few weeks. Just couldn't do it anymore. So I got the Citracal Petites pills and take two a day with no problems. I'm 3 months out. -
Skinny Fiber ?
Aaron in Tulsa replied to Carol Watts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looks like a scam to me. http://www.dietsinreview.com/diets/skinny-fiber/ Besides, it claims to fill up your stomach so you don't eat as much. We already had the sleeve so we won't eat as much. I'd be afraid this could be dangerous to sleevers if it really does expand as much as it says. -
My wife got her gallstones. They gave them to her covered in green slime, in a jar marked "gallbladder and contents." They had obviously just squeezed them out of the gallbladder and didn't clean them. Barf.

I think it's automatically blocked because it's close to h o m o. I typed the word s n a t c h one time (in an appropriate context) and it was blocked.

You won't bust. I promise. You may barf or slime, but you won't bust. Everybody, including me, has been there. It takes a while to learn how much you can eat. I'm almost three months out and I still find myself eating one bite too many occasionally.

Are you on a PPI? My doctor puts everyone on Protonix (prescription) for 6 months after surgery because acid reflux is very common post-surgery. I see that a lot of people are on Prilosec OTC, which is a similar drug. You did the right thing in calling your doctor. In the meantime, you might take Pepcid or Tums to relieve the acid. The PPIs prevent acid, they don't treat it.

I was on full foods at 4 weeks and didn't have any problems. Thanksgiving was my 4th week and I ate turkey with no issues. If you chew your food well there's nothing to worry about.

As of today I officially weigh what my driver's license says I weigh. Or as my wife put it, I'm no longer lying on an official government document. 84 pounds down. Woot!

Drinking and eating
Aaron in Tulsa replied to meford's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Basically, as I understand it, liquids go through the stomach much faster than solids. So when you drink with a meal or soon after, the liquids encourage the solids to leave your stomach faster too, which means you get hungry again soon. I'm 10 wks post-op and I can definitely say that if I drink too soon after a meal I get hungry pretty quickly.
