Isnt It Sad
Aaron in Tulsa replied to gelen's_change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't bought any new clothes in years. It just hasn't been worth it -- I have to spend too much money buying at the big & tall store and they're not really anything I like to wear -- so I just stopped. One of the first things I do when I lose weight will be shopping for clothes. And I hate shopping -- but this one time will be fun! -

0 Warning Points Suddenly Appeared Under My Profile Picture
Aaron in Tulsa replied to vinnyfan's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
On the bright side, they fixed the issue with asterisks on "night" and "spice." So those words won't get you in trouble anymore. :-) -
I've always found that if you use monster chicken breasts (like most of those sold today), it's really hard to get them to be anything but dry. I use tenderloins when I can. Otherwise, I try to find the smallest breasts I can. They're usually from younger chickens and don't turn out so dry.

New Here From Oklahoma!
Aaron in Tulsa replied to jessica6's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah, but it's not too bad. I'm self-pay so I don't have as many requirements. Had my first consult about 3 wks ago, dietician/exercise/psych last week. I see the Dr again on the 27th and I'm hoping to get my date then. My biggest obstacle is that he's making me lose 10% of my weight: 36 lbs! I'm down 11 so here's hoping. -

Awesome! I'm in the midst of pre-op with Dr. Broussard. Hoping for September surgery. -

Fellow Oklahoman here! Where'd you have your surgery? -
I'm not much for sweet protein bars, and the sour cream and onion soy crisps and Ostrim beef sticks which I LOVE are pretty pricey through my doc's store. Does anyone have any cheap savory protein snack ideas or stores where things aren't as expensive?

Has Anyone Heard Of Or Used The "sacred Heart Diet"?
Aaron in Tulsa replied to going_down's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
This is almost identical to the cabbage soup diet. I did that once and had such severe diarrhea that I had to quit on the third day. I suppose it could be effective, but I'll never try it again. -
I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to give up hot & sour soup. I hope my sleeve will cooperate!

Brand New To The Board - Looking For The Best Pre-Op Tips
Aaron in Tulsa replied to going_down's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I am currently on the way to losing the 36 lbs I have to lose before I can get a date. I met with my nutritionist last week and she gave me an amazing plan. I've lost 11 lbs so far and haven't been super hungry. Breakfast, Protein shake Mid-morning, Protein Bar lunch, lean meat Mid-afternoon, shake dinner, lean meat and non-starch vegetables Evening, protein bar It's certainly not "easy," but it's very doable and has worked well for me so far. Good luck! -

Did Something Change?

I've been having the same problem for a couple of days. It's frustrating! -
I'm still pre-op, but I'm wondering this: I take bp meds, an anti-anxiety and a mild anti-psychotic for OCD. I assume I won't be able to take pills for awhile after surgery, so how will I take these meds?

I assume that the system puts asterisks in place of the letters n i g because it's close to the n-word. Like to***ht. But come on...seriously?

For years, I have made "Greek" yogurt by draining regular yogurt in a strainer overnight. The thickness and texture is the same as the Greek yogurt they now have at the store. My question: Since this is cheaper than buying Greek yogurt, does anyone know if the homemade version would have the same protein and carb content of the store-bought?

Ha! It blocked it!

Good thing you said "might" instead of ***ht!

I am self-pay, but my doctor's office required it. I had my psych eval and first nutritionist and exercise physiologist visits yesterday and they were all incredibly helpful. I would not want to go into this life-changing procedure without having this team behind me.
