About Me
MAJOR UPDATE - I HAVE BEEN AWAY FROM THE SITE FOR NEARLY A YEAR. - HERE IS THE LATEST.... I had the big sleeve on June 14, 2012. Now at more than 1 year out I am more than happy. Before I was happy because of the changes in my looks - you know from "fat" to "faaabulous." but now I am a year out all my little side issues have gone away and I am so very happy. SO WITH THAT ADDED - BACK TO MY PROFILE FROM 1 YEAR AGO: Unlike most bariatric patients I was not big as a child. Not at all. I married at age 28 and was about 160. I was an avid marathon runner, triathlete and swimmer. I went to a Divsion 1 school on swimming and track scholarship. I kept running and cycling after college. I was a cycling champion in 1984 and even won a national Bud-Light triathlon in 1983.
But at about age 35-37 I started gaining weight and gaining it fast. Within 10 years I was up 100 pounds. I tried to diet and just did not enjoy working out at all anymore. During this phase of my life, I think I was a more typical bariatric patient. Up and down with diets and relatively unmotivated. In 2011, I was found to have exceptionally low testosterone (100 instead of 450+) so I started the shots and lost some weight and felt great. Until I flunked a PSA test and got to meet with Dr. Rubberglove. I flunked that test, unfortuneately, and so I was forced to stop taking the testosterone. I started really gaining weight and added about 8 pounds a month and sometimes more. At just under 280, I made the call.
Best thing I have ever done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
