Sounds great so far, and congrats on your surgery! My first two days after I felt a bit weird, but on my 5th day out, I am feeling great. I have noticed some bloating, but that went down before I even left the hospital.

Someone Turn Me On To Best Tasting Protein Shake
alicesandra replied to Maddysgram's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would suggest trying optifast! I was drinking those for my three week pre-op diet, and they were some of the best protein shakes I have ever had. If I didn't drink them for the three weeks before, I would probably be on them right now up until the soft food stage, but I'm giving myself a break & other options so I don't get bored. -
Welcome to the forums! Most typical pre-surgery scheduling stages depends on your doctor & insurance requirements. Mine took 5 months, but that was just because I went to an early seminar in feb and started seriously working on working up to lap band by late may. My insurance also had no dieting pre-req for it. A fill is what people call when your doctor injects saline into the lap band. the more they add, the tighter the band may feel/more restriction you get. There is a section here where you can find out any information about them possible that you might be questioning. Other than that, sorry I couldn't be much help, but I am sure a lot of people will be in here in no time helping you with whatever else you may have questions about!

Mine isn't as great as the others listed here, but one of my NSV's I am most proud of right now, is the fact that pajamas bottoms that were rather perfect/tight on me a few weeks ago, are now becoming so baggy to the point I'm going to have to toss them out and get some new ones.

5 Days Post Op! Need Suggestions
alicesandra replied to alicesandra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I am in the full liquid stage. Just trying to find other ideas as to give me some other options while on it -
As others have said, do not be afraid! The surgery is a wonderful thing. I woke up pretty much painless, besides from the gas which went away an hour or two after. I had little to no issues with pain what-so-ever and even after being back home, I have only used maybe 8 out of my prescribed 25 pain pills as a precaution the first four mornings. When you are getting ready for the surgery in the hospital, just lay back on the bed (if they provide you with one pre-op) and take deep, long breaths. Relax yourself, or ask if they have anything to calm your nerves. It will be all over within a few hours and you will be on your way to recovery!

Anyone Getting Banded In July?
alicesandra replied to ilikebunnies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to sleep just fine the night before. Didn't start getting nervous until I was here and in the surgery room! Good luck with your surgery today . It hurt a lot less than I was expecting overall -
Just got done a few hours ago, man am I tired!
-
I plan on taking my time with recovery! Nothing too soon and being as careful as possible.

Thank you everyone! My surgeon said everything went perfect, one of their fastest surgeries they have ever done. Can't wait to go home, tomorrow, though.

Did You Keep Your Surgery A Secret?
alicesandra replied to KanesMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't think about what could possibly go wrong, scorrea, think about all the amazing things that could happen to you in the long run. Just keep working at it one day at a time and you will notice big changes. -
Although I am not yet banded - I am a part of the curves near me. I am in love with the ladies who go there, and the trainers. They are amazing and are never short of encouragement. I joined in april; and since then I have lost a little over 40 pounds & become a lot more stronger. I highly recommend you check it out.The only downfall I see of my surgery coming up is the 3 week break where I can't go into curves! I had issues going to normal gym's mostly because they gave you full control over what you wanted to do machine wise (afraid of using certain ones/lazy), where as in Curves you have the circle circuit where you just work your way around, 30 seconds per machine with resting boards in between! (plus the fact that it's a woman only gym made it so much easier for me)

Did You Keep Your Surgery A Secret?
alicesandra replied to KanesMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Almost everyone I have been around within the last few weeks knows my surgery is coming up on monday. I'm not embarrassed by it, this surgery isn't something that I would keep a secret. I am proud of myself. Everyone knows I have struggled with weight issues since I was 10, and that I have always eaten healthy & etc. So I have no problems sharing it. I've been on diets since 10-11, I am programmed to eat healthy and lapband is just there for extra helping measures while I start kicking myself into shape. -

Question! Many people have mentioned that bread is mostly a no-go after Lapband, but I have been seeing people mention they can eat wheat bread without issues. Does anyone have any experiences/opinions with eating wheat bread? I'm a sandwich for lunch girl and I would hate having to completely cut it out after I'm back on normal foods.

Psych Eval This Afternoon, Not Sure What To Expect.
alicesandra replied to tiggergramma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My psych appointment I just had to go in and talk to him for 30-45 minutes and I was done. I mainly stressed the point that my weight was a roadblock and that I was ready to work over it with the help of lapband. The band is a tool, and it would require lots of work on my part. He just asked a few questions after that and I was good to go! -

Anyone Getting Banded In July?
alicesandra replied to ilikebunnies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
good luck ladies! -
Hi i'm Ali. I've struggled with weight issues since I was little, mostly beginning around the age of 8-10 if not younger. I've always been a large girl, but the weight really took off around the age of 13-14 and became one of the biggest roadblocks in my life I have ever had. I am now 22, my highest weight point being at 445. A few months ago my dad came to me and told me that a hospital near us were starting to do lap band surgeries so we looked into it. I am now two weeks away from my surgery, and I have lost 30 pounds on my own thanks to curves & eating right. I was down to 410 when I last went into the hospital, last week, and can't wait for whats ahead. I decided to go ahead with the lap band surgery mostly because I am at the point where just working out and eating right alone won't do much of a difference. I need something more drastic, without my stomach being torn in half. I'm ready to make the changes with the help of lap band to reach my goal weight loss. I'm very well aware of the fact that lap band is only a tool, and is not a magical weight loss device so I will indeed be working my hardest to achieve the best possible outcome for myself; both physically & mentally. Hoping I can make some friends through the forums here that will be able to help me on my journey & answer any questions I may have in the future!
