    Gas Pain

Gas-X became my best friend after my surgery. Hot showers, a warm heating pad, and lying down for awhile also helped ease the pains. After I would lie down, once i did get up and walk around, it was easier to belch (or whatever...)
  3. Hello all! I was just wondering when everyone graduated from mushies to solid food. Tomorrow is four weeks post-op for me, and I haven't attempted solids yet. I have not had any complications or problems with any mushies that I've tried (except I had some Soup that was too rich and gave me some wicked gas!) What are some good foods to try for my first solids in about seven weeks?
  4. The nutritionist at the hospital did give me info, but I was curious what worked for other people. Each surgeon's office varies so much.
  5. Hello all! My name is Erin, I had Realize band surgery on June 22nd. I am down about 23-28 lb since then. (It's hard to determine....there is a 5-lb difference between my home scale and the doctor's office scale!) A year and a half ago, I was at 385 and ready to make a change. I started eating right and exercising regularly. My left ankle started to bother me, to the point where I would limp on the treadmill. Several exams, x-rays, and an MRI later, it was determined that the major tendon in my left foot/ankle is weakened due to the stress my weight had put on it. I was put in an aircast (and later a custom brace) and was put on a stairs restriction, and forbidden from doing anything that put stress on my ankle...no treadmill, no bike, light walking. I did some Water aerobics, but even then I had to be really careful to avoid any stress. The orthopedic doctor said that I HAD to take the stress off of my foot, and suggested band surgery. He's hopeful that when the weight is gone, the foot/ankle issue should resolve itself. If it does not, then he can correct it surgically. If he were do to surgery on the tendon when my weight was so high, the root problem would still be there and it would all be for nothing. Because I was so restricted as far as exercise, the weight started piling up, and I got up to 407. I was able to take off a few pounds, and had hovered around 403 for months. I got the Realize band surgery 2.5 weeks ago, and the doctor's office scale today had me at 374.2. I'm currently on the soft-foods stage of my diet. Yesterday I actually ate out for the first time and had a scrambled egg...and for the first time in over a month, I actually felt full! I'm so excited to reclaim my mobility and my life! I'm only 33, but had been feeling much much older this past year. I feel more my age already!
