Thank you...... That link was helpful. I've been waiting for something to signal to me to stop eating, lol. This makes more sense. I am losing 1-2 lbs a week. I'm so close to my first goal, I think I'm getting impatient.

Thanks for the advice. I go on Thursday to see my surgeon and see what he thinks. I'm looking for that green zone......not sure everyone finds it but I hope I do.

I was banded in June with a 10cc band. I've had 3 fills and am now filled to 5.5cc. Not sure if I should get another small fill or if I should wait? I find myself having pressure when I eat and am trying to take smaller bites and chew better. I have only lost 5lbs this month.

ROXA: I was banded on 6-18-12 pre liquid diet I weighed 235lbs. I had been on 1500mg of Metformin a day to control My blood sugar for the last 13 years. Two days before my surgery I stopped the Metformin. I have not been on medicine for blood sugar since. I test my blood first thing in the morning and I am usually in the 80's and the highest was 117. At some point I will stop testing. I never imagined that I would get off Metformin...... Now I am trying to get off my blood pressure meds. Today I weighed 205. Good luck.... It can happen!!

Luvs80s - that is a good idea. Knowing I had bowel problems before surgery, I figured I'd have some kind of problem after. My Dr just said dumping shouldnt happen with Lap Band like it does with Gastric Bypass, lol.
-
I haven't noticed a particular food causing it to happen. I guess I will pay more attention. I have days of constipation and then these occasional meals that seem to go right through me. Hopefully it will eventually work itself out once I get to my green zone. Thanks for your help.

I Was banded 8 weeks ago and have had one fill. I'm at 3.8cc in a 10cc band. Most if the time after eating I get diarrhea. Prior to surgery I had IBS-c. It wouldn't be a problem except sometimes there it not alot of warning. I mentioned to my Dr and he said lap banders don't usually have dumping syndrome like bypass patients. Anyone else have this issue?

Did Anyone Not Lose Until After 1St Fill?
khlut replied to Mama Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has been 8 weeks since my surgery and i have had one fill and I have lost 15 lbs. I would think the higher your starting weight the faster it comes off. My surgeon told me that water is major to losing fat. That fat is eliminated from the body through urine. It is hard to get so much water in and I feel like I am constantly taking vitamins. I have a friend who had her surgery 4 years ago and she is still losing. Everyone is different and remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Good luck!! -
I didn't cheat on my Pre surgery diet either. My Surgeon and nutritionist insist on a dinner of a lean protein and vegtables or a frozen diet meal under 300 calorie for dinner and liquids the rest of the day. My surgery was text book and my liver was beautiful. I read some of these posts and I don't see the purpose of making someone feel horrible for making a mistake. I come from a place of pick yourself up and get right back on the correct diet. Being fat we have all been torn down our whole lives, so why not be supportive and encouraging. This is going to be a long slow process with mistakes. I say kudos to all of us for making the decision to have the surgery and make ourselves healthier!!

You'll be fine. Some doctors, like mine, allow a low cal dinner of veggies and a lean protein. Just do your best to get back your liquid. Eating fat is what contributes to a fatty liver. Hang in there!!

Third Adjustment...not Feeling Restriction Yet....help!!!!
khlut replied to ktsped's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded June 18th and have lost 15 lbs Had my first fill and am at 3.8 in a 10cc band. My surgeon said most of his patients are in their green zone between 5 and 6 cc. Strange how its not universal. Plum skin is the only thing I've had trouble with... I feel fortunate. Not looking forward to throwing up, Lol. -

How Supportive Have Your Doctors Been?
khlut replied to Bjc1227's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My endocrinologist was angry I wasn't having A bypass or the sleeve. I thought he would be thrilled I was finally doing something about.my weight. I informed him I had thoroughly researched my options and I had decided on the Lap Band. Good luck and stand strong. -

Can It Really Hurt Me?
khlut replied to katiecakes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Katiecakes: I was banded 6-18-12 and dont get a fill until 7-26-12 . Hang in there. My nutritionist said you are able to eat normal amounts because there is no restriction yet without a fill. Unfortunately it is all willpower without a fill. When I started getting hungry I drank more Protein shakes, Jello, sugar free Popsicles, yogurt and eventually cottage cheese. My weightless is at a standstill and I assume will be until my fill. I'm down 24 lbs since pre op diet started, which I'm fine with. It's a marathon not a sprint.
