    Gall Bladder Issues Post Op

I had mine out when I got banded. My surgeon said that most of the time, patients with extreme weightloss have to have their gallbladder out, usually within a year of being banded. I was lucky, I had gallstones but never had the pain from it.... Never even knew that I had gallstones really. I hope you feel better!

Banded A Week Ago -- No Appetite!!

I'm having a hard time even getting in my required liquids. I was doing awful on the clear liquids do they put me on full liquids a little sooner than normal but I'm still struggling. Even before surgery I was not a big drinker... I never drank a bottle of water a day. Now, I'm finding it sooo hard to drink but thats my main nourishment but I'm not hungry in the least. I also really hate all the protein drinks I've tried so that's a challenge as well. I just don't know what to do!

    Sore On The Inside.....

I had the hernia repair too as well as gall bladder removal on the 19rh and I'm so miserable! I definitely have the soreness too. I'm on creamy liquids but it doesn't matter because everying is going straight through me because of my gall bladder. My surgeon didn't seem too concerned with my soreness when I saw him today. I hope you feel better! We can be miserable together!
  4. Things have been really rough for me... They had trouble even starting an IV and the for some other health reasons, had to use all IV fluids to put me to sleep. Then they couldn't get the tube down my throat... Tried for an hour. The anesthesiologist wanted to stop but thankfully my surgeon didnt let him. Then because of the type of anesthesia, my doc only had a hour to remove my gallbladder, fix my hiatal hernia and put on the band. At first he wasn't sure he would have enough time to get the band on, but thankfully he did. He couldnt inflate my abdomen like normmal so he had to really move organs around and to get everything done. Right now my stomach area hurts but my incision sites dont which is good. My biggest problem right now is that my throat is killing me! It takes 4-5 swallows to get the tiniest sip of Fluid down. I was supposed to have 64oz of fluid yesterday but only managed maybe 8 oz. If any of y'all are the praying kind, I would sure appreciate some prayers.. I don't think I've ever been so miserable.
  5. My surgery is tomorrow and I'm already kind of nervous! Are there any tips/tricks that I should know before surgery? It's going to be outpatient surgery, but is there anything I need to bring with me to the hospital? Anything that you wish you knew before you went that you want to share? Thanks!!

    Just Banded & Now Recuperating

I was banded on July19th as well and I'm still pretty miserable. Part of that is because I had three procedures in one: gallbladder removal, hernia repair an the band. They also had a lot of complications during the surgery...they couldn't get the air tube in... It took an hour of trying. And the they couldn't pump me as full of air so my surgeon had a much tighter working area, so I'm definitely very sore. My throat was the main thing that bothered me postoperatively. I could barly swallow anything. Even now when I'm drinking my clear liquids, I feel like it gets stuck half way down. I am afraid my doc is going to put me in the hospital when I go back for my follow up appointment because I'm barely drinking 24oz of fluid a day. I'm really just feeling down about the whole thing

    Gallbladder Removal?

I am having my gallbladder out in the same surgery as my lapband... They are also fixing a hiatal hernia... three surgeries in one! I never had pain related to my gallbladder, but I got to where I couldn't tolerate eggs and I would get frequent diahrrea after eating. When I mentioned these to my lapband surgeon, he said it was likely a combination of the hernia and gallbladder and sent me for an endoscopy and gallbladder ultrasound. Turned out I have gallstones and a hernia. My lapband surgeon said it was good that the gallbladder was coming out because it usually goes crazy after drastic weightloss and he ends up having to go in and remove the gallbladder a year or so after lapband surgery in most patients.

Hi hi everyone - I'm Laura. I'm getting banded on July 19th and am so excited! My insurance doesn't cover it, so I'm a self-pay, which DOESNT make me excited, lol. Anyhow, just wanted to stop in and say hi!

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I'm getting banded on July 19th! I had an endoscopy and gall bladder ultrasound on June 26th and I've been on a Sugar Busters diet ever since. I go for my preop stuff on July 12th. I'm very excited to get this chapter in my life started!
