  1. I too was much colder post op. Nice! My family is very happy because used to freeze them out turning down the AC. For most of the last 15 months I would hardly sweat when I exercised but as my body has leveled out and is stabilizing I notice I am sweating more, but nothing like I did pre-op.

    Extreme body and mood changes !

    You took the words out of my mouth, Nancy! I only had minor hormonal changes but then I'm also over half a century old! Ha ha! It's good to be cold for a change and I am also hoping summer will be better with less of me and much smaller clothes!!
  3. Coffee is a diuretic and can dehydrate you. According to my DR/NUT it doesn't even count as part of your daily liquid because for every ounce of coffee you drink, you need to drink an additional ounce of water to counteract its effects. Personally, I have a hard enough time with 64 oz. I don't want to have to drink even more!

    Donating plasma?

    No! Your own body needs that right now. Just because you feel better doesn't mean you're healed completely. It takes about 6 months to recover from any surgery. In addition,!WLS puts special demands in your body. RNY or Sleeve. It doesn't need to work any harder to replace plasma on top of everything else. You should wait. You'll have plenty of time to help others later!

    breast size (for women)

    44 D to a 38 C. And shoe size from a 7 1/2 wide to a 6 1/2 regular. I expected the girls to shrink, but didn't even think about my feet!

    Always cold

    It is very common. Not to worry, it gets better with time. As your weight levels out you will be warmer again.

    Have you contacted your doctor? Healthy choices shouldn't be making you sick. Especially at 8 weeks out.

    Up calories to loose weight?

    All of your organs operate on protein. If you don't get enough, you won't lose. As perpetual dieters we were incorrectly taught that "less" is "more". And although that is true with all the crap food we eat, it is not the case with healthy nutrition. If you don't get enough your body will go into starvation mode. Your metabolism will slow in an effort to "save" itself. So eat. Plenty of protein and good carbs, fruits, veggies and stay away from the simple carbs, bread, pasta, grains, starches . Most of all Fat and Sugar! When I would hit a stall I would do that and in a couple of days, I would start to lose again!
  9. I got tired of being on the roller coaster, up, down, back up again. I went from being hungry ALL THE TIME to having to remind myself to eat. From being tired all the time to not being able to sit still. I lost 55 pre surgery and decided to try it on my own with all my new information. I got stuck as always, and slowly started creeping up. After finding out how your body physically fights you and that it was not simply a lack of will power, it was my best choice. Even with some major complications, I would do it again in a second!!

    dumping syndrome

    I had it once. Ate food at Christmas I didn't prepare. Even tho I made good choices or so I thought, there was obviously a lot of hidden fat or sugar. Felt like food poisoning only without the vomiting or diarrhea. It was miserable. Lesson learned.
  11. A couple of things can cause this. One it is more natural for us to be upright, so our organs are designed for that. Laying down changes angles and pressure that can cause pain. The other reason is circulation. When we're awake, up and moving our circulation is better bringing fresh blood and oxygen to our healing tummies. When we lay down and sleep, our circulation decreases and causes more pain and stiffness. The more active you can be during the day, the faster you will heal and the faster the pain will disappear. Just don't over do! You will feel better soon!

    BM?

    Same for me. My system was totally empty for surgery so it took time to build back up. My PA told me at my year check up that it is perfectly normal to only go every 3-4 days, something I wish I'd known a lot sooner.

    Water

    Water can stretch your sleeve. It has mine. My system digests really slow. There are nights when my stomach looks and sounds like a watermelon because I can't get my pyloric valve to react and release the water. I wind up having to eat some Protein to get it moving! Sucks!!

    Bread? Salad?

    Salad was the only food I mourned for after I had surgery. I could eat cooked veggies but the raw ones took a while. @ 15 months, they still are slow digesters for me. I pretty much stay away from bread but when I do eat some I either have Orowheat Winter Wheat bread or I use the multigrain sandwich rounds. They're great as a substitute when I make my half a hamburger.

    Pus From Incision

    When in doubt, Always check with your doctor. Better to feel a little silly, than to wind up with a serious problem. Your pic however does look pretty normal so I wouldn't freak out. It's when the edges or surrounding skin get hot and really red that you need to start to worry.

    excess skin

    Your age also has a lot to do with it as well. The younger you are, the better the skin will bounce back because it has more elasticity. If your over 50 or have gone thru menopause, be prepared for the "flying squirrel" thing going on.

    Backhanded Compliment from Husband?!

    I agree. You are already a beautiful woman! Don't let things your husband says or does hurt. I am married to a man who was diagnosed as a narcissist. If its not about him, it's not important. I spent a lot of years putting up with his criticism and taking it personal when he really just needed to put me down to make himself feel better. A counselor had me read a book called "Codependency and the Power of Detachment" by Melody Beatty. It helped me immensely. It taught me how to not let the behavior of others control my feelings or actions. I highly recommend it. On a more personal note, don't stay with a man who cheats on you. You deserve better!! Hugs to you!!
  19. On and light exercise immediately progressing to more intense gradually. No weight lifting for 2 months
  20. Vacuum 2 months Driving 2 weeks and off pain meds Swimming/bathing when incisions healed. ( shower ok immediately) Coffee - weak decaf was ok on full liquids but I waited till full diet.

    Ice cream.

    Skip the I e cream. The hospital should have cottage cheese. Eat that instead. No added sugar and a lot less fat. Hope your son and you are better soon!

    Am I A Success or Failure?

    Definitely talk to an addiction counselor. I delayed my surgery for 10 months because less than 2 weeks before first scheduling, I had people begging me not to go thru with it. A relative of a close family friend was in the hospital dying of liver failure because she had cross addicted to alcohol because she could no longer eat to deal with her problems. She died at 32 years old leaving 3 kids behind. Obesity is an addiction just as serious as any other. If you don't deal with the problems that caused you to gain weight, you can transfer it very easily. Please, please don't wait to get some professional help. We don't want you to die.
  23. I use the Pure Protein bars available at several places. Best prices: costco and Walmart. I didn't start eating them til 6 months post op. Protein Bars are dense and dry as a rule and require that I drink extra Fluid or things get blocked up.
