Sorry if I felt scolding Tara, it wasn't just your comments and I did "get" what you were saying, but when you are one of the "odds" having gone through what I did, it does make one a bit sensative. I dismissed many stories like mine pre surgery because they were so "different" than me. Comorbidity issues, much higher BMI, etc, as is probably human nature when you are trying to talk yourself into a state of comfort, which is why I felt it so important to post my story as I am going through it. And my previous surrgeon was Dr. Billing in Edmonds Wa. They are a bariatric center of excellence (unless you have a leak than they are a deaf center of morons).

For those who my story has affected, I"m not sorry I've had that effect on your decision, in fact I'm happy that it's made you assess where you are in life and if you are ready at this time for the surgery (or ever). I wish to hell I'd have seen my story prior to my surgery! My complications were real, and dismissing them lightly frankly peeves me off. So do comments like the walk to the mail box...that's actually not factual. Surgery is high risk, at a minimum 1-400 die, 1-100 have complications from minor to major. Those are high risk numbers for someone with no comorbidity issues. I was telling someone today....cut a hole in your chest and ram a garden hose between your ribs, then make sure its suctioning 24/7 from your lungs....you will now never cheat on a diet again! I went through hell and back. Serious pain and torture to bring me back to a "maybe you'll make it but we've got six weeks more of concern minimum". 45 days in pain, 22 in high level hospital care, 250,000 in additional costs that most insurance wont cover and I lost 45 days, and almost my entire life with my 6 year old child. I easily could have left him without a mother because of this surgery. I did research the surgeon who has a great reputation (read about dr hodad on line) and paid for the best money can buy. I followed every rule to the letter, and almost died. SO casual dismissals kind of peeve me off frankly. For me, I wish I'd never put myself at risk. Never. It's not worth it at my weight and my good health. But for others, it's the perfect option. Nicci and I have talked and hopefull Nicci what you got from my chat (gad what drug was I on then LOL) was that yes, likely it's a good option for you BUT WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE READY!!!!!! If you are in doubt, anyone, don't move forward until you arent. It's not chickening out to not be ready. Its using your wisdom to reassess where you are in life and if this is the time for you. Nothing to be ashamed of. I wish you all the best Nicci. You know that When it's the right time for you, it will be the right time. You just do what feels right in your heart! Dawn

What Are You Going To Do After You Hit The Reset Button?!
iggychic replied to urboyp's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my life has changed a lot since gaining weight 8/9 years ago i maintained a 6 pretty easily but my wardrobe was all very professional (banker) so one thing i am going to do is buy an entire wardrobe for my new life through a professional stylist to hone in on who i am now. i have a huge collection of 30s bias cut gowns. id like to wear them again but in general i dont see my life changing much. maybe i wont dred pics so much being in community relations i cant avoid them but i never like them! -
If they go south after the surgery they were already pointed in that direction Hun. Sometimes relationships change, for many reasons, but if weightless kills it, it just wasn't one to begin with

So what. People's judgements can rule your life or you can. Who do you prefer rules your life.

If the pain and weakness don't go away have a leak check.

Health Consequences For Lack Of Protein?
iggychic replied to vikkic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slow healing, malnutrition, slower weight loss. If you are out just a couple of days give yourself a break but if within a week ( of being past clears) you need to call your nut now. -
I think it's not a real relationship if you are thinking as you are. If I were him I'd leave you because you sprung it on him that way.

We had the surgery the same day with similar complications except I just got out of hospital yesterday. So first I just want to send a mental hug out to you. I've been down your road though my own lasted much longer and it was sheer hell. Pain and suffering that this tough chick literally broke down from. Tubes in my ribs, drains through my back....it's all too fresh and makes me cry just thinking of it. But I had my surgery in the US so don't think it couldn't happen to you here. I was at "one of the best" docs here and he nearly killed me. And yes an advocate is entirely necessary, in mex or anywhere you go for medical care. By the way....absolutely not, in my instance I don't think it was worth it.

I'd taste (spit) now to get your pallet back at home. I've tasted a tiny bit of dh's wine and spit and I'll tell you it tastes bad. We are wine collectors and getting my palet (how do you spell that lol) back is important. I just went (we go annually at least because we have friends with wineries there) in may for my bday. I was pre surgery and not worried about restrictions but I was driving our friends suv and their driveway is an elegant gated goat trail so mostly I just asked for a small pour or I tasted and spat. The girls actually figured me out pretty early and started to fight for the seat next to me at tastings lol. They liked to "share" what I wasn't drinking heh heh. Don't miss Cade and Hess if you can get in ( Cade might not be open to the public regularly but it's one of the best out there, far surpassing silver oak etc).

Pre -Op And Wavering Between Excited And Terrified
iggychic replied to carrieann70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Given i won the lottery on risks...i have 399 get out of complications free cards and you are welcome to one if you'd like. The message I want people to get from me is to understand the risks and prepare. Not to have or not have the surgery, just to understand it might not be a breeze as I figured it would be and instead got a hurricane. So now you have my card and my best wishes that you get that gentle breeze i so wanted! -

I followed every rule and have been in hospital nearly 45 days. Don't downplay the real risks. Some one in four hundred die having this surgery...following doctors orders. -

iggychic replied to andi0120's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had my first child at 42. The pregnancy was so unremarkable I didn't know I was pregnant until five months. He came seven weeks early and was tiny, but strong as a lion He will be 7 in November. -
Theresa's Story...scared But Desperate...
iggychic replied to tigerbelle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I scheduled my surgery to include a long recovery period (3 weeks) "just in case) This week we cancelled house guests, we also cancelled a charity event that was to be held at our home last week. I have cancelled a business retreat due in early october in my home. This is all due to recovery from what was supposed to be a "no bid deal" surgery with little risk due to my low BMI. I am a month out and I am currently sitting in a hospital waiting to have another liter of Fluid drained from my lungs. Waait until after your major events. You don't know that something like this won't happen to you and you will have the added burden of no local doctor. -
