LOL Ok I will admit I was tempted but really...you can get just about any freak surfing a site...so PM's are better for that just to save you a headache. -
Mandatory nutritionist visit - REALLY?
iggychic replied to linkybo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh holy cow...I just don't do stupid! Skip it and see if they call for gads sake. I bet they don't. Tell them you are an intelligent being and can't handle an hour with beings who are not in that category! But onto the more important stuff... King Salmon? Is Coho ok or White King only? What about farmed fish? Farmed fish is probably a no right??? -

Posting your phone number on the internet is almost as good an idea as this person staying home from the ER tonight. You might want to edit it out quickly before the pranks begin... -

You have symptoms of a leak, dehydration and you are likely not feeding your son a safe meal given you have some sort of infection in your body, if nothing else, I hope he's not 100% breast fed! Go to the ER now. -
We have to have a drain tube?
iggychic replied to banditchic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a drain. I had seizures due to the blood in my abdominal cavity...that might have not happened if I had a drain. I also spent weeks in pain due to the large mass of blood. In addition, I had a leak that put me in the hospital for 22 days. I'm honestly thinking that a drain is a wonderful thing I wish I'd have had a doctor who did them. I also had outpatient surgery...great if nothing goes wrong, sheer hell if you have any issues. -

iggychic replied to banditchic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know, I was relieved that I didn't have one after reading about them here, but in hindsight, I wish I would have had one. I had a huge mass of blood in my abdomen and I had a leak. A drain tube might have saved me a great deal of pain. -

What's happening is that your liver is burning off the alcohol. The results would be the same if you tested after drinking vodka. It does not necessarily mean you are out of ketosis. Alcohol can actually increase your ketone level in some instances as it's burned off. But you are burning booze, not fat. Two glasses of decent wine have at max maybe 8 to 10 g carbs. That will only toss you out if you are right on the border of your body's ketone max limits (which do vary).

This is not true. People who don't understand wine often think that because wine is made from grapes, it must be full of sugar, like a grape right? The issue being is that the sugars in wine are cooked off during the fermenting process and turned to yeast. A typical glass of wine (4oz) has 3 to 5 carbs total in it when it's served to you in a bar. Wine will NOT Throw you out of ketosis. But as with ALL alcohol, what will happen is that while the booze is in your system, your liver will be processing the alcohol first, then when it's done it will go back to processing fat. The more booze that you drink the less time the liver has to work on fat. The only wines that are high in sugar are cheap cheap wines with added sugars (which increase the alcohol content). Flavored coolers etc are also high in sugar. Cheap sparkling wine often has added sugars as well, though not much. Drink good wine and don't drink a lot of it and you'll stay in ketosis. Drink lots of cheap wine and add those numbers to your daily totals...and you might find you're thrown out of ketosis, but good wine alone isn't going to do that any more than any other alcohol. BTW...due to labeling laws, flavored vodka's are not required to list a sugar content. The flavoring does have sugar in it so if you do feel vodka is your choice drink..make sure its not flavored.

Careful Cheri. They're gonna bring in "F" who lives in fear of certain posters and only posts for two days about those horrible people...then disappears altogether....to complain about how you're scared him into not being able to whine about his triple cheeseburger Breakfast Meanie heh heh heh Oh and you left out the section on ripping open your wounds riding a wild bull on day 3 after surgery. I always love those posts. After all, the doc was probably kidding about you not lifting anything and as long as you use your legs to lift yourself up on the bull it'll be ok...oh and you can lift children because you are a mom and your muscles have this magic memory that allows for that weight....but shucks...I forgot WE CUT THROUGH THOSE! Ummmmm but for you they're different right? The pain you are feeling is totally different and likely a leak Best post about that pronto LMAO

I have the funniest Victoria's Secret story... So several years ago I took my assistant to San Francisco for a conference I was speaking at. She was about five months pregnant and at her largest the dear was probably a B cup. That was the year Water bras came out. She was very uncomfortable (and a tad bit hormonal) so she wanted to buy a water bra, but didn't want to try them on. She twisted my arm...she ran my life LOL I had to do it, so to see how much effect a water bra would have I was to try one on and let her see the difference between a regular bra and a water bra. Well dears, remember I'm an H cup. They don't sell those there.....or at least they don't make water bras for H cups cuz what do you want to be if you're an H? A Q? Anyhoo, they bring me the biggest one they have. Ellen and the staff are waiting for me to come out and I try the thing on with a t shirt (I was skinny then LOL) and OMG I put it on and I burst out laughing. My girls were standing at a level of attention they had never before managed. I swear they left the dressing room far ahead of me...it was both obscene, and funny as hell! So Ms. Ellen decides she wants a water bra cuz if they can do "that" she's all in. I ask the sales gal...so what is in the water bra? Water? Is there a treatment in them? What will they do at subzero temps (we both lived in alaska at the time and regularly saw subzero). The gal looked all perplexed...she was from California and minus twenty was a concept she couldn't grasp...she was rather dumb as well.....anyhoo, she says in her pert little Victoria's Secret model voice.. "Well I suppose it could get a little nippley" To this day I can't think of much more than what "A little nippley" might have looked like if Ms. Ellen had bought the water bra Fortunately hormones overtook her and we left....to go maternity clothing shopping, in a town where no one ever gets pregnant Never ask a gay concierge where to get maternity cloths! They're useless (But he was a hoot to have a drink with).

I am in love with chantelle bras right now. The prettiest and most supportive I've owned (Nordstroms). I think they were about $88 or so but worth every penny. I had purchased them when I was at my heaviest and loved them so when I lost a chunk and finally had to buy some new ones recently I went ahead and got two of those, one dark, one light, to wear until I need to change again...I'm not sure I'll get much smaller but I think I could go down a bit more. They're great support without being "bullet" shaped. They are underwire, which I prefer, but not uncomfortable. My only complaint about them is that they have a cute label in the back made of metal with their name on it. It's not large...but large enough to set off airport security LOL I forgot about that recently when I had to fly commercial and ended up in the bathroom with a nail clipper to remove the silly things prior to going through security. I'm tired of the full body search LOL

But how would one know that someone is sleeved or not? We have to take out minds away from "fat people and skinny people" because if all goes well aren't we attempting to be the skinny one that he's making fun of? Much like the borg we will all be assimilated.....muhahahahaha

How long for our little tummies to empty?
iggychic replied to shrinkadonk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is not a straight answer to that question. If you eat a mix of carbs and Protein it can take up to three hours for the food to clear your stomach. If it's milk, likely 45 mins or so. If it's just carbs, might be an hour, or just protein, hour too two. But that varies from person to person as well so the only way to have a definitive answer is to do a swallow study followed by a CAT scan taken at variable times. (They sedate you and then take pictures every 5 mins for upwards of an hour). If you're looking for "when to take medicine on an empty stomach" two hours is normally safe to determine that your stomach is empty if you haven't had any complex meals (carbs and protein mixed). -

Someone told me today I had to be careful.. I asked why and she said she was worried I would get too thin. My answer was....you have to see me naked to be able to make an adequate judgement. I still have 30 or 40lbs to go...ya I look better, but that still puts me in the middle of my healthy BMI range...I'm not going to be stick thin. If it were my mom...I'd just lie about your weight and let her be happy. She does not know the diff between now and 6lbs

I can't believe it...Or, maybe I can, but I am so disappointed...
iggychic replied to Sadlers1999's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
LOL My previous BCE goes through NUTS like caramel candies in front of the unsleeved BCE means they cut a lot of holes, not that each doctor is highly skilled etc. Just that the facility meets certain goals. Given a day surgery center with out the ability to tread a heavy bleed made the cut...well you know how I feel about the BCE badge LOL -
A lot depends on who made your pants I wear Not Your Daughters Jeans, so I don't fly through the sizes as fast as some do. It also depends on where you started. The heavier you were the slower you see that progressing size change. And then where you lose. I have lost pretty much my top half and my tummy and bumm are next to go...so I haven't flown through the sizes so much either.

Valentines Day Challenge!
iggychic replied to LittleRed30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm chasing doxie I love to chase dogs HW 182 Current (using weight at start of challenge) 142 Goal 02/14 132 Final goal 110 or less I lose slowly but I'm working on my fluids and hope to see better changes. I noticed the spreadsheet is pretty much full and on my line it's not calculating the first weeks loss into my total loss. Does it need a tweek? I didn't want to even try to play with someone elses spreadsheet That's kinda like getting into someone's purse in my world LOL -
Most websites have a "how to measure" section. Typically you use the size around your lower chest (where the bra circles you) then measure at your fullest point. If I remember right each inch is a different cup size but I'm not 100% on that. It's worth treating yourself to a fitting at a place like Nordstroms. While they are expensive, the value of one good bra is pretty amazing in your life.
