75 days since surgery... 61 lbs lost, 200s + NSVs!
NYC1992 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just saw my surgery date ticker and turns out that today, July 19, happens to be 75 days since my surgery on May 6! My highest weight ever was 357 and my weight the day of surgery was 350... today I am 296 meaning I have lost 61 lbs and broke into the 200s! (is that Twoderville, Twonderland, etc ??) At 5'9, my goal weight for now is 200, which means I am 96 lbs away and have achieved 39% of my journey! Now for the NSVs... I have been Instagraming a lot (as many 21 year olds do nowadays)... I hadn't had any pics of myself on my Facebook in years. A restaurant I hadn't been to in awhile has very tight booths - for once I wasn't touching the table at all. I haven't been at this weight since I graduated high school in 2010. My pants really don't fit! They actually were always too big for me (I guess my waist is just naturally smaller) so now it's kind of embarrassing pulling them up all the time so I gotta buy new ones. Have a follow-up appointment on Monday so I am excited to share my progress there and the biggest one coming up... tomorrow is my great-aunt's 100th birthday party where we are first having a pool party - majority of extended family hasn't seen me since Thanksgiving! So much more left but I am so glad I did this... getting my happy back is so important. I don't want to lose focus by being too proud though. Thanks all who have been so supportive and encouraging, especially in my "Miserable inside" thread back in May! ~Mark P.S. Attached one of my Instagram photos so you can see haha. -
Do you have someone with you?

Restriction or still healing?
NYC1992 replied to KIANNA219's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it was inflammation/healing... my appetite returned 3 weeks out and I felt like the surgery never happened - I could eat anything. I had my first fill a week later and it got me in the Green Zone. -

Thank you! To be real, it's definitely a concern I have as more weight comes off and I see some excess skin already. Would be exhausting going through plastic surgery later on but if I have to, I have to. Congrats on going through with it... you're going to regret it briefly at first if you've never had surgery before (like me) but in the end it's a really smart decision. -
I was looking back at this thread just now and am just in awe in regards to how I was feeling back then two months ago versus now having lost 63 lbs. You all really, really did motivate me in just the right ways and glad I have recovered from bandster hell... but hell to the no will I ever go back there! This also happens to be my 100th post since joining this month last year. Great to have come full circle.

Mine was half an hour, but I don't remember falling asleep at all. Felt like 10 seconds later I heard "we're done!"

Besides weight loss, what has been the biggest benefit since getting surgery?
NYC1992 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Can I say all of the above? I voted for self-confidence though, because it's SO important to have love for yourself. -

Thank you all So my great-aunt's birthday was yesterday... everyone was super impressed and really happy/supportive - felt really good to know that people noticed! Now, on to replying: I try I feel like I'm the youngest active member here but someone has to be, right? I'm going tomorrow at around 4 PM! Last time I checked I wasn't a lady, but thank you nonetheless I will say I'm glad to have done this early in life, but I know that if my mom ends up getting it done herself, she'll be just as happy I appreciate that! Well, being that I am a 21 year old male who is 5'8 (mistakenly thought I was 5'9 before... oh well) and started out heavier, the numbers really have to be customized to you and you only. Aw thanks I don't want to Celebrate too early on because the journey isn't even half over yet, but it does honestly feel great. -
Whats the longest any of you have heard of someone having the band without complication?

Restriction definition

Just have to check, are you following all of your surgeon's rules? -
Congrats!! You have to be ultra proud

17 years old. School coming up.... :0

You gotta keep in mind that you wake up to see yourself in the mirror every day, which means it's very hard to tell a difference until much latr on. I'm at 61 lbs lost so far and still can't tell too much, but others sure do. -
Where is the port, exactly?
NYC1992 replied to aviva1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah port pain is normal but awful nonetheless. The picture is hard to tell being that it's sideways and the angle, but mine is a bit above to the right of my bellybutton if that helps. -
45 lbs and Green Zone! + NSVs

Made it to 50.1!! -
I had made a post recently that I was .5 away from having lost 45 lbs... today I have made it to 45! My highest weight was 357. Surgery was May 6 and I was 350. I am now at 312! My first fill of 4.5 cc out of 14 was June 3. I went in expecting to have my second today and was told my loss was way over average and there would be no reason to give me another. It's so surreal to me that I've lost that much - too bizarre to process in my head. I recently put up my first profile picture on Facebook that I've had in years. It wouldn't seem like a big deal to many, but it felt so good to be able to have a picture there I felt good enough about to share. I know I was the creator of a very long "Miserable inside" thread a month ago... at 21 especially, this was a very difficult decision to make but I'm glad it worked out. Thank you all who have been so supportive It's really appreciated and I hope we all can continue to inspire each other. ~Mark

July 1 I will be 8 weeks post-op (banded May 6) and getting second fill (2 cc) tomorrow... Started pre-op at 357; date of surgery was 350. Today I am 312.5!! Goal is 307 (50 lbs lost) within July. I don't notice much physical change but still, this is so surreal

Food No Longer Is Appealing

Got my first fill this past Monday... I said I was feeling zero restriction at all since I was no longer sore, so I was given 4.5 ccs in my 14 cc band... is this common/normal? Just wondering because people seem to have a lot less...

One thing since surgery a month ago that I'm struggling with in particular is the fact that I have to chew so much... by the time it's all chewed into mush, the taste is pretty much gone and I find myself (when eating alone at home) spitting a considerable (but not huge) of it out into a garbage can next to me. Even when I've been out to dinner, I spit several times into my napkin but try to hide it by acting like I'm wiping my mouth. This could possibly be because I've been waiting to swallow until it's very mushy in fear that, if I don't, a piece could be bigger than expected and then get struck (which freaks me out a ton). Any advice?

Did you feel restriction prior to your first fill?
NYC1992 replied to newskinnygal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I felt it up until I started solids which was around 2 weeks ago - once I was no longer sore at all, it was as if the surgery never happened - I could eat anything without problem and as much of it as I wanted! I got my first fill this past Monday at 4.5 ccs out of 14 and so far so good
