5 Weeks Out N Miserable
Fiddleman replied to griega232's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a pretty hard time with BM when I first switched to solid foods. First I tried morals and that kind of worked. However, it was only treating the symptoms. Next I switched to fiber gummies. These have been working really well so far. They are made for weight loss and sugar free. I picked them up from target, but I forget the name of them. They are easy to eat after meals and taste pretty good. The bottle recommends 2 a day, but I usually have 3 after each meal and, voila, no more issues with BM. I feel I need to take them because it is really my only source of fiber. The good part is that I am now getting to the point of 2 or 3 BM a day, after meals. Probably TMI, but I am just sharing what worked for me. -
Great idea! I'll do that soon. He is a real charmer.

Sliming is not the same as throwing up. No food comes up. Sliming is basically a lot a saliva in your mouth.

Can You Eat Out After This Type Of Surgery?
Fiddleman replied to Joy1961's topic in Food and Nutrition
Sure, I eat out all the time and usually Balt to find something suitable. It has to be high protein, low fat, low carb and pretty tasty looking. Usually I can never finish so take left overs home for a meal or two in the next couple days. Never order off the children's menu. The options are usually pretty unhealthy, but there may be some exceptions out there. I usually go to the same rest aunts I did before, but am fairly picky about what I order. It is worth it to spend some social times with family or friends. -
Normally, I would not eat at KFC. We were on the road last night and I thought "why not?" So I ordered a grilled chicken breast and a cole slaw side. After only 4 bites of chicken and 2 small bites of cole slaw, I got the worst case of slimed and throwing up feeling in my throat ever. I had to spend quite a few minutes in the bathroom and then had to do an emergency pull off the road about 20 minutes later. What gives? I eat grilled and precooked chicken all the time at home. It must have been something KFC injected the chicken with to keep it moist. Now I know KFC grilled chicken is not for me...

Thanks for the link. Very interesting. I am not sure my experience is related to that, but I probably won't eat there again. If I need to eat out and cannot sit down for too long, there are many better options out there.

I was sleeved almost 3 months ago.

Does Anyone Not Like Their New Look Once Loosing Their Weight?
Fiddleman replied to slatter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oops, I mean to say almost 3 months not 3 weeks. Every part of me is tightening up. I hardly have a stomach any longer and other parts of my body are now in normal range of appearances. 90 lbs down... -
Does Anyone Not Like Their New Look Once Loosing Their Weight?
Fiddleman replied to slatter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been sleeved for almost 3 weeks and I love it. People respect me more and I get attention from strangers. No more quick stares at the ground. Oh how that bugged me and tore down my confidence. I felt with the problem in public for most of my adult life. Now I am feeling like a stud in public. I can hear the music " too sexy for my...." I do realize I look in the mirror more now and like what I see. -
Can I Swallow And Not Sip?
Fiddleman replied to Lloydthumper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rather than making a joke out of this subject, I will just state that I swallow liquids following the first 3 week. Now I ccannot down gallons like I used to, but I can usually consume 4-6 oz of liquids before having to wait 20 seconds and repeating. Otherwise, you will feel the consequences of having too much liquid in your stomach at once. -
Lets Get Real! I've Been Reading A "regrets" Thread
Fiddleman replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To answer your question about 500 to 600 calories, I lost more like 10 lb a week except for stalls. At 3 months i still am eating around 700 calories a day, not sure. i don't count calories, i just focus on 3 oz protein a meal and getting in as much liquids a day as i can. i have 6 meals a day and always try and eat a high quality extended release protein shake with water at or right before bed. it helps your body burn calories all night. There have been a few stalls so far of varying lengths, but you still lose inches and have other NSV during this time. Even though I stalled out for sometimes 10 days, I did not stress out about it. We have already won by having this surgery. If you just follow the basics and eat cleanly, you will be a big success. Good luck! -
I also started at 335 lbs. however, I am a guy and am 5'11" so don't know if we are comparing apples to apples. 3 months now, I am down about 90 lbs. however, it has been a little slow lately. I have to admit I eat pretty cleanly, eat about 100 gram protein a day, drink at east 100 oz a day and my exercise is very moderate ( mostly walking 2-4 miles a day, sometimes skip a day). I am fairly laid back abut it, keep my stress levels low, try and sleep enough ( trying to get better, probably average 7 hours, but sometimes only 5 hours). Life has certainly become much more enjoyable since the surgery for myself. I no longer am tormented by the effects of eating bad food and having blood sugar levels mess with my behaviors and outlook on life).

Can't Sleep, Surgery Tomorrow 9/22
Fiddleman replied to jentheyo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck during and after your surgery. I remember having very similar thoughts as you. Weeks before the surgery I was totally cool with "the decision", but days before they surgery, I started to get more and more excited. Like I was a kid going to disneyland for the first time or day before Christmas. I think it was my body's and mind's coping mechanism. All I can say is that the whole experience was totally worth it. -
I have been fortunate and have not had any cravings since surgery almost 3 months ago. If you can make it 3 weeks, that usually gives you enough time to solidify a new habit. It is kind of strange for myself. I used to be a big apple fritter and old fashion donut eater before surgery and the I lost all cravings after surgery. I think the preop diet helped a bit to get the sugar and fat cravings out of the system. I eat very basic now and have lost about 90 lbs. keep holding on a bit longer despite the cravings. It is totally life changing to not have food controlling your life any longer.

Yes, your feet definitely change. I noticed my feet slimming down first, before anything else. I notice that my expensive Tevas are getting to the point of the strap running out of Velcro to attach it behind the heel. These are my favorites and cost almost 100 dollars. I wear them everywhere.and they are pretty comfy, even on long walks like 4 miles. Sigh, I will have to go buy a new smaller pair.

The Wls Honeymoon --- You Only Get 1 Chance At It!
Fiddleman replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great article and fun to read. -
I was just reading an article today that a man won a 7 million judgement against a major corporation because after consuming buttered popcorn every day for years, the inhaled butter chemicals led to respiratory issues. Go figure! I knew there was something unholy about the butter substance that is in microwave and movie popcorn. Now you have another reason to not eat it.

Excellent!!

I also take 1000 mcg every day sublingually. I have heard the it cannot be absorbed because the part of the stomach that was responsible for the pre-op is now gone. There also other places where I am getting B12 such as multivitamin, some flavored waters and some foods. Good luck.

Has anyone heard about the supplement. I picked some up from GNC yesterday, but am hesitating to even open the package after reading reviews on Amazon and GNC site. Is it dangerous for sleevers specifically? The reason I got it was two fold: looking for something to boost metabolism and GNC sort of pushed it on me describing it as being good for boosting metabolism. It is a stimulant and there are multiple warnings on it concerning not to go over a certain daily amount and to find your tolerance before increasing.

Should I return it unopened to GNC?
