    What Are Your Carb Limits?

I was not given any specific limits of different nutritional measurements like carbs or fats. They didn't even talk about calories. The nut gave us two very basic rules that we must follow: 1. Consume at least 80 grams Protein a day 2. Drink at least 64 oz Water a day I personally am much higher with regards to bother protein and water amounts. I tend to eat like I am on the Atkins diet where carb maximum is as low as can be at around 20-30 a day. Eating large amounts of Proteins give my body energy when it cannot get it from carbs. Fat also burns in the muscles easier and, in my opinion, more efficiently because the body will turn it into glycogen instead of carb by products. Everyone can certainly make their own decisions on how many carbs to eat or not to eat. I am just communicating what has worked for me at losing 115 lbs since July 2nd.

    Fuzzy Tongue

Yes, I got it too for about 2 weeks after leaving the hospital. I never formally got it checked out, but did a lot of tongue scraping and gargling with mouth wash. Eventually it went away on its own. It was a pretty thick and nasty coating.

    Where Did You Lose.weight First?

I lost weight in my face first followed by my feet. After that there was a mass exodus of fat from the stomach. Chest and arms leaned out. Now I lose it from all over and don't really notice a specific location getting smaller. That said, I have dropped 10 pant sizes and 3 shirt sizes so far on this journey. I could not be happier about this progress.

    Cravings!

Lucky for you! My wife still eats all the junk around me and I have just learned to ignore it and stick to plan. After a month or so of following good eating habits, the cravings really do subside and don't torment you. Also a person should be careful of the extra carbs here and there. A person may find it a lot easier to eat low carb as to not awaken the carb monster that lays dormant in each person. Eating carbs may be a little like throwing kidding on a fire causing the desire to get stronger and stronger until there is no choice but to satisfy the crave. Believe me, I knew all about this before the surgery and it would spin my insulin levels out of control, wreaking havoc on energy levels and mental well-being. Today I am pretty level headed and have a healthy approach to daily living that no longer is enslaved to the evils of modern day food choices that are full of sugar, salt and fat.

    Eating Fast

I always got the slimes when eating too fast plus an aweful stuck feeling in my throat. Sometimes the only way to get any relief was a trip to the bathroom. Thank goodness I no longer get this at 3.5 months, but it is still wise to eat slow and chew. I think doing this also helps build healthy eating habits for the future. Unfortunately, I never did learn the habit of taking 20 minutes to eat 3 oz of protein so I will have to work harder in the future in order to not over eat. I am measuring everything out now so as long as my measuring continues, then eating fast will not be detrimental to my success. My advise is to learn the healthy eating habits not only to avoid pain, but to build a solid foundation of good eating habits when your restriction diminishes after 1-2 years.

    Cravings!

Hate to be a party pooper, but your body cannot absorb that much protein at a time. It will absorb about 20-25 grams per sitting and the rest will just pass through.

    I Want

Food funeral, i like that i never had one pre op, but am OK about it. I am so glad to be done with the emotional roller coasters that come from sugars, salts and processed foods in general. Lately, I have been very neutral / more or less positive and I think that comes from eating whole foods keeping insulin and hormones at a balanced level.

How Much Are You Able To Eat?!

I agree about sometimes there are left overs. When ever I have 2 eggs scrambled with 2 small chicken sausage, i end up with 1/2 serving egg left. I get the full feeling and know that it is time to stop. I am going to try 1 egg from now on as to not give my dog so many leftovers. Scrambles eggs with fetta i think is my favorite food at 3+ months post op.

    Old Ways Omg

I eat on average 6 meals a day 3.5 months out. Each meal is about 3 oz protein which works out 100-125 calories a meal. I usually don't get hungry unless I miss a meal.

    Pain On Right Side Only

I also wanted to say it is hard to sleep on pillow because of tenderness on back of head.
  11. Started out at the beginning of the week as tenderness on crown of head. Next it was back of the head. After that my right shoulder got tender and very sore. Near the end of the week my right side of neck got sore. Today, my jaw is sore and tender. The tenderness and sore seems to spread every day this week. Should I call the on call doctor this weekend?
  12. I use plastic measuring cups for 1/3 cup or an accurate food scale for 3-4 ounces of Protein.

    Sleeve Ve Rny

It might be to help people be more successful even though it may not be medically required.
  14. I should get an award or something after taking the initial attack from this low life.
  15. I reset my Halloween goal to 225 a few weeks back. I am 220 today so have reached it!!! 115 down since surgery date.
  16. How do you really know when you are deficient in something? I have been dealing with an achy bruised scalp feeling in last couple days and yesterday it spread to my neck and right shoulder. Not on left side for some reason. Feels like bruising and just aches all the time. If you read another post from me today, then you know I take a ton of vitamins. I might not be taking enough c above and beyond multi-vitamin, but take everything else it seems.I need to buy some more c chewables. I eat mostly protein and not much in terms of veggies. I just had blood work by PCP about 2 weeks ago and everything came out fine. However, I don't know if they check vitamin levels. I seem to remember during a pre-op session that they said vitamin levels are not included in the standard panels. Any thoughts on what I might do? Down 115 so far from July 2 nd.
  17. It is still an issue today. While i am not sue what it is I can say it feels like a combination sunburn and bruise on my neck and shoulder. Head is still tender on scalp. Anyone know what it is?

    Water Tolerance

I am the same smith tap ter and most bottled waters. I just tried a product called zero water today and it does a good job at filtering out the hardness from tap water. It really worked. You can find it on Amazon and at stores like Walmart. I still use flavor, but tend towards Mio because crystal light feels corrosive as it goes down.
  19. For example, I want to: Run a marathon Walk on the beach shirtless and feel good about it ( Hawaii trip next may) Climb mount Rainer ( a local peak here in Washington) Hike the PCT from California to Canada ( already have done shorter stints in Washington earlier in life)
