Sleeve holds too much food

Yes, why not? I have scrambled eggs a couple times a week. -
Sleeve holds too much food
Fiddleman replied to angelamarie79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started to get the full feeling after starting on solids. It used to be that little burps were my signal that I should stop ( and there were many times when I did not stop and slimed or got pain). However, I learned over the months that even stopping at the burps is too late. I now get a feeling or sigh which is a sense of satisfying hunger. This is the true signal to develop a sense for, but it did take me months of trial and error before honing in on it. Best of luck! -

IS IT TRUE AFTER 6 MONTHS
Fiddleman replied to stellabug321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe it is true, but only if you continue to let the sleeve do the heavy lifting. If you dedicate yourself to a solid exercise plan and continue to eat healthy, I think you can probably keep up the weight loss to your end goal. The problem that occurs at six months is generally people can eat like they did pre sleeve albeit smaller portions. A lot of folks relax their eating and, if they are not careful, will significantly slow down their weight loss. This is only from my reading so I do not have any actual anecdotal or empirical evidence to back up these statements. And of course everyone is different in terms of metabolism, etc. If you wish to keep losing at a significant clip, my advice is to get or stay active and watch your nutritional diet as your sleeve may not help you as much. -

Going to "zumba" for the first time...
Fiddleman replied to Quelyn01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wife and I love Zumba for Wii! She is awesome at it because Latin dancing is in her blood (even though she is Scandinavian). Me, I just try my best but look silly. We bought a groupon deal for couples zumba dancing. After the New year resolution people clear out, it should make for a pretty good set of date nights. -
Valentines Day Challenge!
Fiddleman replied to LittleRed30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Valentines day is my 7.5 month anniversary from surgery. It has been an incredible journey. I do not really weigh myself much any more, maybe once every couple weeks. I am at 185 lb now and would like to hit 175 lb. Probably will take until St Patricks day, but we shall see. -
Can this be possible?!

21# in one week. That is amazing! -
I get tempted every now and then to eat some popcorn when at the movies. Then I think about what is actually in the "butter" and change my mind. I used to be the biggest popcorn eater pre sleeve. I liked movie popcorn, caramel popcorn, apple/caramel popcorn, moose munch, white cheddar popcorn, etc. It was my #1 favorite snack. I was such an addict. I do not eat popcorn post sleeve because I know it would probably be dangerous for me.

For pre sleeve folks, my advice is to try and kick carbs, sodium and sugar habits about a month or two before surgery. This will make the 2 week pre sleeve diet oh so much easier and the transition into sleeve land as a post op easier as well. It is hard. I will not deny that. However, you will be glad to take care of head food issues before rather then after when you are also dealing with other physical or emotional issues. It takes about 3 weeks to form a new habit.

Oh, love love love the exotic flavors and aromas from Indian food. I wish I were Indian for a moment. So good! We sometimes go to Indian buffet on Sunday for lunch and I eat a few bites of my wife's plate. The owner is really good about that because we have been customers for years. They are best Indian in WA, which is saying a lot. I really like chicken tikka, chicken Marsala and some of the veggie curries. Mmmmm, my mouth waters just writing about it. Slightly off topic, but we also love thai food for the same reasons. Chicken satay is always a favorite and the perfect size for a meal. Lately I have grown to really like chicken over steamed spinach with a little peanut sauce. I used to be a big fan of pud thai noodle and wide egg noodle dishes and would not try other things on the menu pre sleeve. The inability to eat noodle dishes has really opened up the rest of the menu to me. Mmmmm.

I think there is something behind building all your food consumption around protein that neutralizes the desire for sweets. I am not sure how it works exactly, but the longer you stay away from them the less you will want them. When I do want something sweet, I have my daily dose of caramel chews as a treat. They are very low calorie and do not spike the insulin levels as sugar would do. I know it is hard, hang in there.

I am really stoked after reading about this hidden menu. Thought I was never going to be able to eat there again. I think they will be on my menu sometime this next week.

Yummmmmmmm....I am going to check this out.

At about 5-6 weeks post op, your stomach will be healed enough for regular coffee. You probably do not need as much as pre sleeve. I have on average 1 cup a day and am about 7 months out.

what is your favorite snack post op
Fiddleman replied to newgrandmother's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have to agree. I also have been eating Ostrim lately which is a combination of beef and ostrich meat Jerky. I do not like the texture as much as regulat oberto jerky, but the flavor is good and is sold through my surgery center. The second snack that I only use before running is called chocolate paradise energy squares from nuts.com. it is loaded with good carbs for exercise where you need it ( eg running for an hour). My standard Snacks are usually chicken sausage (3 oz) or a Protein shake with Water. -

I have to not only congratulate you on the loss, but also the fact you basically still have the same amount of long flowing curly hair. It looks good on your new size. -

7 months ago. For the most part, it has been a pretty darn good experience so far. Started at 360 at my highest before surgery, 335 on DOS and 185ish today. You can do it! The experience has been really good not only from the weight loss, but I also learned alot about myself in the process. I feel more authentic now and that has reduced a lot of the life struggles that occur when hiding behind my previously morbid obese lifestyle.

I'll look for this. What is the brand? Would it be at Target or Costco? Those are the places I generally shop for my OTC needs. -

Oh, good suggestion! Never heard of the jello approach. I tried Bariatric Advantage and Celebrate tabs and capsules, respectively. Both made me hurl. Next I tried a trader joe high potency tab. That worked and tastes good to me. Now I am taking a GNC men's formula for active trainers, just what I need for high intensity running. I hope you find something that works and that you like.
