    Full of high octane.....

OMG, TMI!!! Seriously, gassing gets better the later out you get. For me, I think gassing got better around month 5. However, I would never gas someone while talking to them. Oh the shame!!! Better to wait for a private moment so you don't have to have a black belt in the art of inconspicuous gassing. Lol.

    how to relieve doms

I always get doms after hiking a tough hike without warm up hikes first, usually at the beginning of the hike season. I walk around like a zombie and it is painful to go up and down stairs, take a piss, bend over etc. Usually takes me about 3-4 days to recover without taking anything. I imagine taking super high omega 3 fish oil could help (3000 mg or higher) and be sure to stretch when done with workouts. I am not really super knowledgable on supplements, but Mark just talked me into bcaa for faster recovery. Something to consider taking after workouts, before work outs, etc. the creatine in it will bring the water into the muscles for faster repair. I have not really gotten debilitating doms yet from cross fit or running. maybe it is because my workouts have been very progressive over time where i am pushing hard, but not doming myself into down time. I usually tend to feel a little achy, but not like a zombie as described above. Hope you feel yourself again soon.

    catalyst supplement

Hey guys - I got the AST creatine monohydrate today. The recommended serving size is 1 tsp, but it also talks about creatine loading and creatine maintenance. Should I just do this recommended amount and forget about the whole loading and maintenance phases? I guess tell me how you would take this particular creatine if you were me knowing I want to build a nice athletic physique and am strength training two days a week with cross fit, but also run 4 days a week and yoga a few times a week.
  4. Heh, we are going to have to start talking about food Porn and the Bermuda Triangle of Sugary Goodness again (sounds like a good book title). At least while Laura is away camping. <evil grin> Apologies to those that missed the original romp a few days ago.
  5. Thanks everyone for your kind words. I could not have done it without your support along the way. VST is a great community of people!!
  6. Yes, every day is a new adventure! This is a far cry from the dismal depression I had pre op.

    Applebees

Yes, you can actually eat there and not blow you post op eating plans. Look at their 550 calories or less menu. There are wonderful options full of taste from many different spices and flavor. There is enough to make 2-3 meals depending on post op time after DOS within the solids phase. Yummy!

    chinese food

Rice is also fairly high in carbs, so good to avoid if you are losing weight.

Sure, same is true for me as I follow the NUT diet plan. I was just asking as I read that some also follow the insanity diet. I do not want to do this.

    burpees are evil

Burpees are kind of a combination of push up, jumping to feet and final jumping jack. Fluid movement from laying on ground to clapping at the end. Repeat. It is challenging and causes much grinding and gnashing of teeth.

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

Chia seeds also really help with keeping you hydrated during run. I like to eat them every morning after drinking 32 ounces of water. Seems to really help with preserving energy during a run.

    chinese food

I like to have Chinese on occasion, but no longer eat things like orange chicken or fried rice. Instead, I will eat BBQ pork or something like brocolli beef. There are probably a lot of other good chicken and beef entree suggestions that are lean with veggies. I mostly get my Chinese from a local diner, but will also eat at Pandas if more convenient when out. Just try and make good choices. Steamed veggies instead of fried rice or chow mein for example. I always have left overs for 2-3 more meals. A little off topic, but the same principle of good choices also allows you to eat at Thai, Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, etc. The list goes on and on.

Trying to get family to change - A little rant

Thank you so much for saying that. I have created a safe distance from me to the Protein bars today. Have to go into the garage now and that takes effort. Lol. I have gone back to eating a solid 3 oz of chicken for afternoon snack and notice my hunger did not peak at all after that until dinner. So glad. I am going to keep the energy squares though because the good carbs will help with the various training.

    BIG FAT PEOPLE!

I went to OA once in 2008 and it was very dogmatic in structure. Not for me. There was hardly any support and it felt very uncomfortable. It was mostly reading from a script and reading from the OA bible. Most ineffective hour I have ever spent. Maybe AA is better then my experience with OA or maybe my experience was isolated. WW was far better at supporting overeating issues in their support meetings in my opinion.

Bob harper's inside out DVD. I do not really do it so much now as I go to cross fit with a PT. However, maybe I will get back into it in the future. It really makes you sweat and feels like cross fit in intensity. As said above by CowGirlJane, Jillian Michaels ripped is popular and effective. They are both cut from the same Biggest Loser thread so I am sure both are equally good in their approaches.

    Hot Yoga kicked my butt!

Should I go get a scan of it? It does not seem to inhibit me much in running ( today), but I definitely feels different on that knee. Kind of like a little heated and achy when sitting at my computer desk. It was like a really large pop on Saturday and I thought, that can't be good. No pain really though that is constant and it is only minor when I do notice it. Not really an issue though. It does not feel like it would stop me.
