Can anyone give me advice on how to write an appeal letter to BCBS?

Thanks. I checked out this site but the sample letter they have is for your doctors office to send. I have that one but I was told that I need to write a letter too and I have no idea how to do it.

:help: I need to write a letter of appeal to BCBS. I know I have seen offers of help with such a letter on this board but now I can't find them. Would someone please point me in the right direction?

I have only been one time( loved it) and would love to go back and take the grand kids. Who do you plan your trips through and are they very pricey?

BCBS turned me down again today. I guess I will have to file an appeal.

I have a BMI of 37 with hypertension,sleep apnea and high cholesterol and was just turned down by BCBS today because....my sleep apnea is not severe enough and my hypertension is controlled by meds. I think they want me to have a stroke and then they MAY approve the lapband for me! Anyone know how to write a good letter of appeal?

TM...., my heart goes out to you.:hug: You and your dh will both be in my thoughts and prayers. 3 years ago my dh had some severe health problems,( ruptured aorta,strokes) spent a month in ICU then 3 months in a nursing home for rehab. I was told in the beginning that if he lived he would most likely be in a vegetative state so not to expect more.... My dh just now walked into the room and told me that he is going to town to put gas in his truck and get the mail! Outside of a speech problem he is doing fine! I remember how scared I was when he was going through all of that and I thought I might lose him, but I still needed to keep up a brave front for the family, and life still needed to go on. It all felt like a bad dream and I could only cry when I was alone. Wow... that all came back sooo clear and now I am bawling like a baby. I am so lucky to still have him. Sorry, didn't mean to make this about me!!! Just want you to know that I know what you are going through and will be here for you. Have faith that everything will be ok.:hug:

Hi Niki,welcome to our little group. TM, I'm praying for your dh... I understand him procrastinating, I should have had another test 2 years ago and I have put it off because I HATE DRINKING ALL OF THAT NASTY STUFF THE NIGHT BEFORE!! I am still waiting to hear from my Insurance Co.

SpecialK, I filled in my food log on the way to my appointment with the nutritionist. ( I was not driving.):biggrin1: She was just basically wanting to see what my problem with food is...sweets or eating to much. Mine is both of course!!! I don't think it has to be perfect..just a general idea. She will suggest that you try not to eat so much and to make better choices. Don't worry, she is not going to recommend that you not have the surgery if your food log is not great! The only people that would try to stop you would be your insurance company... because everyone else is making money from it!

Hi Jewelee, yes it is perfectly normal to feel this way. I haven't got approval from Ins. yet and one day I am praying they say yes, and the next I'm hoping they turn me down so I have a good excuse not to get it done! Sometimes I change my mind about it every 10 minutes!! I know I really want the lap band..... but the waiting is making me crazy!!!:faint:Hang in there....we can do this!!!

You need to call your Doctor immediately!!! This is not normal and you need to get help ASAP!

Keep jumping SpecialK, their not done with you yet! I am still waiting for BCBS to approve surgery for me. I just got a letter from them saying that the Doc. that did my phyc. eval. was out of network so they won't pay him. $400 that I owe now! Whoopee! If they would just approve me I wouldn't mind so much.......Oh yes I would! That Doc. should darn well know who he has contracts with. I would have found a different Doc. had I known he was out of network!! Oh well ...hang in there ...it will be worth it some day!!!:biggrin1: Hi everyone, how are you all doing?

When I had my first visit with the surgeon, she weighed me and said that I would not get weighed again before the surgery. That was the weight that was submitted to the Insurance Co.

Maybe she means that blood is seeping out of her port when she blows her nose, not out of her nose???
