  1. My PCP and his staff think it's great that I'm getting the band. They are all anxious to watch my progress.
  2. where is everyone being banded and what Doc.?
  3. :lurk5:SpecialK , make sure you stick a snack or something in your purse. Greg was there early enough to have time for breakfast after his labs but as soon as they were done with me I had to rush up stairs to the class and from there to EKG and physical. I think you hike for a good 5 miles all over the hospital at a fast pace.( could they be trying to jump start our weight loss??) Any way....back to the point of this story. From midnight the night before I had no coffee and no food until 2:00pm that afternoon. I was starving and so in need of coffee after jogging those hallways all day!:w00t: On the bright side...everyone there was very nice so other than starving it was a pleasant enough experience. Oh.. and the Doc. informed me that I am diabetic and that hopefully losing weight would take care of it. Now where in the heck was that diagnosis when I was fighting with the insurance company??? :tea:
  4. My only instructions were...the day before surgery beginning at noon only drink clear liquids and drink nothing after midnight.
  5. Hey Greg...it was nice meeting you! See you on the 17th.:tea:
  6. TM I am so sorry to hear that..I know how aggravating all this stuff is when you want it so bad. ...and I know saying"hang in there" one more time makes you want to scream..but HANG IN THERE..it will happen for you! And by the way.....I do cuss..and I'm cussing a blue streak for you right now!!!!!! :tt2: Hugs

    Why NO caffeine?

The band is on the outside of the stomach...how is anything inside the stomach going to eat at it? :confused2:
  8. Wow...this little group is growing! SpecialK it looks like I will be an hour ahead of you for surgery. Greg what time are you scheduled for?
  9. Yeah TM !! I knew you would make it!! I am so happy for you!! You could still make the 17th....
  10. Welcome Greg, my pre-op testing is on the 6th also so we will probably run into each other. SpecialK have you got your packet yet? I bet all your testing will be on the same day as ours. 16 more days!!!
  11. Thanks Lady Q. Thats what I needed to know.
  12. SpecialK, I got my packet in the mail Tuesday. My surgery is scheduled for noon on the 17th, I have to be there at 10:00am. My pre-admission session is on the 6th at 9am, that takes most of the day, then on the 13th I have a pre-op appointment with Dr. Choban at 2:30. What I am trying to find out now is if I will have to spend the night. My daughters need to request time off and if they wait to long I may have to drive myself.:rolleyes2: If it's a two day thing, one will go with me the day of and the other one will come get me. I don't want them both to miss 2 days of work.
  13. TM you will get here just hang in there, we will be waiting for you! Is an overnight stay standard procedure with Dr. Choban? I have tried to reach the elusive Charlene with this question so my daughters can request the time off work in advance to get me there and back, but so far have not heard from her. It's almost an hours drive for me and I'm guessing that it is not recommended that you drive yourself ???
  14. Thanks a bunch Sarah..that is exactly what I wanted. Now I will know what to expect. I worry most about the time between when I get there and when I go into surgery...the longer the wait the more time I have to get scared!:)
  15. Hi Sarah, congratulations on being banded! Would you please walk us through your surgery experience from the time you got to the hospital? For those of us waiting to be banded it would be a big help to know what to expect. Well.....I can only speak for myself, but it would sure comfort me to know what is going to happen. Did you have to stay over night? Any thing you wish you would have known ahead of time?
  16. Good question...what happens when we can't get more fills??
  17. I was told that they do not weigh you again. Your first weight is the weight they send to your insurance co.
