  1. Thanks Deb....I really do need to think positive thoughts! But I sooo enjoy ranting!!! :yell: :high5:
  2. It doesn't end yet!! Called ins. co. again, they said they had not received anything! Called Charlene again, she called me back and said she had just found a fax that ins. had sent her yesterday saying Mt. Carmel is not a contracted facility with BCBS of Mass. Called ins. again, after some time checking.....they decided that the address did not exactly match the one they had for Dr. Choban so it was automatically denied! They gave me a number to give to Charlene so she can call them and find out exactly what they need!! :lalala::faint:
  3. Deb, my sister had cataracts although she swore she could see just fine. She decided to have it done because her eye Dr. refused to make her new glasses until she did. After much grumbling she had it done and now wishes she had done it sooner, now she only needs reading glasses. Although 86 she can run circles around me! She bowls on a league 3 times a week and is constantly on the go. Thats one of the reasons I want this surgery...so I can keep up with her!!:faint: Spoke with Ins. Co. again this morning...they still have received nothing from Mt. Carmel. I called Charlene and got her voice mail again told her the problem and ask for a call back.....(still waiting for one from last Thursday) and yes I was very nice and polite! :hail: There must be someone else I can call if I am not satisfied with the service I am getting from her. It seems like the friendly support went out the window as soon as I paid the fees!! 15 days should be more then enough time to fax something! I asked if there was something more that I needed to do before she could submit it. She had originally told me that she would send it in as soon as I paid for my classes .....then when I called her a week and a half later she said, oh no, you have to attend your first meeting with the dietitian then I can submit it. Now I'm afraid there is something else ...........WELL!!....in the middle of this soul cleansing RANT :embarassed: :heh: The afore mentioned Charlene called and said that she faxed paperwork to ins. co. on the 21st...only took 2 weeks... so now the ball is in there court.. Oh lordy...now a whole new set of things to worry about!!!! EEEEEEk! Hmmm... just noticed...I called her on the 20th she faxed on the 21st..guess I jarred her memory! Well ! I have been on vacation but its back to work today, so I wont have a much time to stress!!
  4. Are you awake when they put the tube down your throat?
  5. I totally agree with TM..we need to hear everything so we know what to expect!
  6. Lady Q and Deb...were you required to go on any special diet before your surgery?
  7. TM the slime story is helpful because if it happens to us we won't panic, we will know what it is...so thats not scary. Scary is ...help I have been miserable for a year, I can only get down a teaspoon of food a day,and I throw that up, and I want this thing out of me and my insurance won't pay for it!!! Stuff like that.:biggrin1: And like my ins. co. still saying.....no we haven't received any paper work for you!!!!! And still not getting a call back from Charlene! Is she our only contact option?? Gee Deb, does that mean that we're caterpillars??? :cry
  8. Deb, my sister is 86 and had lasik on one eye a couple of weeks ago and is having the other eye done tomorrow. She says it's a piece of cake! The only drawback is that she didn't know she had wrinkles...and now she can see them! :car:
  9. Lady Q..thanks for sharing your first "slime"? story! :spit::rofl:Congrats on the smaller outfit size!:rockon:And congrats to your DH being ordained! Does that mean that he will be a minster? Have a great day everyone!:car:
  10. TM do you ever get scared reading posts elsewhere on these boards? I will just be full of confidence...then I will stumble across a post about all the things that go wrong and all the problems some people have after getting banded then I have to run back here where I feel safe and every one loves their band and no one is having any problems! :omg: Is anyone having problems here and not sharing? Is it an Ohio thing...better banding, less problems? OMG! I go from being afraid I won't be approved for the band to being afraid that I will and then it will all go wrong!!! WELL!!!! now that I got that off my chest I feel much better!
  11. Hi Deb, good picture! If I get approved for the surgery I will try to figure out how to post one... If not I will be to busy trying to hang myself! Just kidding... I think. TM I am between Somerset and Junction so we were practically neighbors! Lady Q, looks like you're doing great! Whoever said they are addicted to this board, I know what you mean! It's the first thing I check when I get home from work and I am disappointed if there are no new posts! :phanvan Dorthy??? we miss you.

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Hi mduvall, I was worried about the liquid part too until the dietitian explained that I would be on full liquids before I left the hospital. I knew I would starve on clear liquids but I'm pretty sure I can make it on creamy soups and such.
  13. That is interesting...and so is the fact that you're not hungry all the time!!!! Lucky you! You are doing great!:woot: Now for my woes. :angryI just got off the phone with BCBS and they have not received anything from Mt. Carmel yet! I had my appointment with Michelle on the 10th at which time she told me she would give the papers to the long suffering, over worked, apparently verrrry busy( I got her voice mail again ) Charlene, and that said Charlene would promptly submit them to BCBS ( but that I should check in about a week to see if she really did.) :censored::waytogo::frusty: I am getting so stressed over all this waiting to find out if I even qualify for the darn lab band that I will have gained 50 lbs and probably will be turned down any way! I think if any one asked me right now if I would recommend this I would say NO..unless you can afford self pay!:faint:
  14. Yea Deb! :clap2::clap2::clap2: You go girl!! Just a thought....You're on your way to becoming a new woman... so maybe a new man is in order...It's his loss! Hang in there Deb! We're here for you.
  15. Bridget, I have a lot of the same fears. First I am afraid that my insurance won't approve me...then I'm afraid they will.. and I will have the procedure and it won't work for me! I come on here and read everything and I talk to people that have had these same fears. This is a great support group and I know this is the right choice for me... but only you can decide if it's right for you. Just keep reading and asking questions and good luck with what ever you decide.
  16. :myscared:Thanks Deb. I'm sure you are right. This darn waiting is driving me crazy! First I'm afraid the Ins. co. won't approve me ..then I'm afraid they will and I still won't be able to lose weight.:nervous You and lady Q are doing great! Keep it up!! :whoo: TM and Dorthy...are you guys having any of these worrys?? misery loves company so please share if you are!:ranger:
  17. OK now I am getting confused. I didn't know that you could decide when you needed a fill, I thought you just went in when you were scheduled. Deb,you said it shouldn't be a struggle but I keep reading that the band is just a tool and you still have to really work at it to lose the weight.I am really praying that you are correct and it won't be a struggle because more and more I am afraid that I am not up to the task.:faint:
  18. Deb, that cake story sounds just like me! if it's there I will eat it all!:hungry: TM, If we don't get to that losers bench soon there won't be room for both of us! I did a little better today. Did not eat the kitchen sink!:car:
  19. TM, 4.7 lbs in 2 weeks is HUGE!:whoo:You go girl!!!:clap2: I have gained another 2 lbs! I am so mad at myself. I am out of control and all I want to do is eat!:help:
  20. Hi Deb, I had a great weekend. We had a family cookout Sunday and when it started to rain we decided not to let it spoil our fun, so we played horse shoes in the pouring rain while the younger ones played football.:smokin:It was our most fun cookout ever! That rain sure felt good! TM your count down got me through it,Thanks! the first meeting with the nutritionist is in the bag and she said that Charlene will now submit paper work to BCBS BUT.........I should check with Charlene in about a week to make sure it was sent!:car: One step closer! Dorthy, some people go back after 3 or 4 days. I think it would depend on what kind of work you do. I read that post too, but you will have to ask Dr.Choban what her policy is. Yes... you might be worrying just a tiny bit to soon...but thats what we all do...and thats why we need each other! Hi Lady Q, how is everything going with you? I would be happy if I could say I was walking 3 times a week like you ..I know I can't keep up with Deb!! Maybe now that it is getting a little cooler I can get off my butt and walk.:tired
  21. Hi Dorthy, Welcome! We are all just stumbling along in here trying help each other out. Lady Q and Deb are banded but Thinner and I are still waiting. Lady Q...That was funny!!

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Hi everyone! How nice to run into this group. I am 62 and just waiting on my Ins company to approve. I am so ready for the band! My goal is to be able to bend over and tie my shoes without feeling like I am going to pass out!:faint:And I am hoping that when I get down to a normal weight that I won't be so darned hot all the time!
  23. :baby: Babys Huh? well I hope they change me often!!
  24. I know what you mean TM...it seems like something I talk about but will never get to do....like hit the lottery!!
