hey guys, ]] i'm 23 and i was banded july 3rd of this year i'm feeling back to my old-self again... (not feeling like i'm still recouperating from surgery anymore) i am scheduled for my 5th fill this week, i've lost over 20 lbs and people are telling me i look great. i am very lucky to have the support i do from my family and friends. my problem lies in the fact that i don't FEEL any different, and i certainly don't feel like i've lost over 20lbs! i can' see a difference in pictures of before and after, and i get weirdly frustrated when friends tell me things like "oh yeah, you can totally tell!" or "your face looks thinner too! " i know they are trying to be nice and i appreciate it, truly. but none of my friends have been overweight, ever. and i have never been anything EXCEPT overweight. even when i was a little kid! i cant even picture what i would look like thinner. and i just can't seem to snap out of this 'slump'. i feel almost depressed that I'M not seeing any progress which is making i very difficult to focus on being motivated.... i've been working out for an hour every night for te past two weeks, but nothings' helpong with the 'slump' no one else seems to understand my feelings so i thought i would just ask here if anyone has ever been in the same boat..?

thank you all so very much! i am so glad i found this site! it's so different than just talking to my family/friends about this because they could never understand what it's like to go through this process. my dad (53) had lap band almost 3 years ago and has done wonderfully! almost 180lbs i think... i'm so proud of him. however he and i don't talk much about the emotional side of lap band. we're good with the logistics lol but not on the self-image topics. the 'slump' i mentioned above is just all in my head, i realize that the weight is coming off because i'm seeing the scale, however i can't connect that knowledge with my emotions. it will take time to adjust, i know... like i said it's wonderful to have such support, so thank you all for your kind words and encouragement, tips and advice! <3

5 Days Post-Op, My Shoulder Is Killing Me!
mle11789 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so i had my surgery and a hernia fixed this past week, july 3 and i knew going in there would be post-op pain... but i've had such horrible pain in my left shoulder. i realize that it's extra gas and i have been replacing a hot compress almost every hour during the days. nothing is helping, and it's keeping me awake at night. i have been getting up and moving as much as possible, i walk for at least 20 mins. a day and i just can't get any relief. no other pain, my incisions don't even hurt. ( though my ankles are REALLY swollen) am i just being a baby about this? should i just tough it out? any ideas what else might help? -

thank you all for the input... i've been moving around all day, keeping the heating pad on and drinking. no change yet, but i'll tough it out... gotta keep reminding myself that even though it sucks right now, everything will be worth it in the end... -
