Someone in another thread described the wait as waiting to get on a ride at Disney Land. We are finally under the canopy and can hear the music from the ride. We are so close to getting on!

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
MamaMelly replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hope this is okay to share. But my feelings regarding the surgery have been jumping from excited to darn right frightened, as I know they do for many of us. A few weeks ago, I had some family over and I was mentioning my fears and how I don't want to leave my son behind. Well, yesterday evening my husband went out and got the mail and there was an envelope from my grandma. Inside was a little placard that said "When you expect miracles to happen, miracles will happen.' and then on the back she wrote a nice message about how she prays for me every day and that she wants me to have strength and BELIEVE IN MY HEART that everything will be okay. I read it and just broke down. My poor husband didn't know what to do with me. LoL But after reading that I was filled with a sense of peace that I haven't had yet. So many things have fallen into place to make this surgery possible for me. I have to believe that it's meant to be. -

Help Anyone Been Through This ?
MamaMelly replied to emilykate's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As with most things regarding this surgery, there is a lot of opinions and variations. It is usually recommended that you wait 12-18 months to get pregnant after a sleeve. However, my surgeon said that he's had a few patients get pregnant after a few months and they have all had great pregnancies. Not ideal, but it happens. But you can get pregnant again, you just have to wait. -
congrats! I am on August 2nd so I will be right behind you!!

Hello. My surgery is scheduled August 2nd. I am scheduled for a CPR class on August 25th. so, a little over 3 weeks later. When I asked my surgeons nurse about doing it, she said she didn't think I'd be able to do the compressions. When I asked my surgeon, he said he didn't think it would be a problem. I need to let my boss know asap, so I thought I would get your opinions. I know it will ultimately be up to me and there's no way to exactly predict how I will feel, but would you have felt up to doing a cpr class at that point after your surgery? It is about 8 hours long.... Thank you so much!

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Qotd-it's funny when my surgeon asked me this question I just stared at him with my mouth open. I'm having such a hard time wrapping my head around possibility of not being morbidly obese! First goal, get RID of that word MORBID from my diagnosis. I remember the first time I saw that in my chart. I felt sick! Anywho, I am 29. I weigh 255. Started this process around 263. Last time I was below 200 I was 17. I remember weighing 175 and feeling good about myself. So I know it's on the higher side, but for now that's my goal. Will readjust as necessary. Anyone else having a hard time wrapping their head around all of this, and the fact that we ARE going to Lose weight?? I'm so grateful for this site and all of you!! -

QOTD-How/When did you decide you wanted to have bariatric surgery? Why did you choose the sleeve? I first looked into bariatric surgery in the beginning of 2009. Did my informational session and first NUT appt, and then discovered that the clinic I had started with was not covered by my insurance. So I travelled to another clinic, and did another informational session in the summer of 2009. When they told me about having to wait 12-18 months to have a baby, I decided I did not want to wait that long. So I had my son in March of 2011. Went to the informational session in March of 2012 and here I am.....12 days from surgery!!! Cannot believe it! -
Hey everyone, so I am scheduled to be sleeved on August 2nd. Doing research, I just read about the sleeve plication which sounds like it's less risk and slightly more successful than the gastric sleeve. Anyone else wondering if a plication is better? I don't even think my surgeon does them, and I hate to start the process over again. I wish I had heard about ths procedure sooner.

My surgeon wanted me to do one week of liquids, but I am going to do two weeks for the same reason as allnewme! So that starts tomorrow!

Hey everyone, i really appreciate the replies. I'm not necessarily even considering the procedure, how I came across it actually is that I was looking up the wikipedia article on sleeving to show a coworker as I thought it could help me explain to her the surgery I was having done as she had never heard of it. I saw a reference to the plication during my research and just did some brief reading on the plication site that is sponsored by the same people as this site. At the surface, it was portrayed as less risky and that was my draw. I'm terrified of complications, so my immediate reaction was to want to do something safer. Obviously, this isn't necessarily the case. I appreciate your insights! Yes, i will just continue with my process and will be gettings sleeved on August 2nd!

Praying for everyone who is being sleeved today!

Did you eat something in higher fat or calories recently? If I eat like crap for a few days, I can almost guarantee that I will suffer a little of the same pain. good luck, and please keep us posted. Scary when you are away from home to suffer that. -
