Vision Problems please help!
grubb79 replied to TTL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I struggled with the same thing the first few days. Thought I was going crazy...then I realized it was the pain medicine! Once I stopped it everything went back to normal. I remember trying to text a phone # to someone after 3 tries I gave up everything was running together. Keep your head up - it'll get better I'm sure! -

Unflavored Isopure?
grubb79 replied to sara-seeking-sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Mini! I add one scoop to a regular sized serving of Crystal Light, 16.9 oz. The best flavor that I have tried it with in my opinion is the Cherry Limeade. Love it! Not sure if this will help you or not, but I found that the colder the drink it, the better it is. Most of the time I will use my Magic Bullet with the Crystal Light packet, Water (little less than the 16.9 since adding ice and it will melt), protein and some ice...wonderful slushie! Tastes yummy and I tend to go through it a little easier because I don't have that mindset of thinking it's just another protein drink! -
Unflavored Isopure?
grubb79 replied to sara-seeking-sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been using the Unflavored Isopure since my pre-op diet. It really helped that I had the unflavored especially in the first two weeks post op. I added it to broth and Crystal Light. I will say though that I got brave once and added two scoops to one serving of Crystal light - hoping to easily double my protein quickly. But, it just didn't taste right. Kind of nasty. One scoop works wonderfully for me though. It makes things taste a little different to me, but not so much that I can't drink it. Now that I'm used to it I don't even realize the difference in taste. I think it's a great product. If you decide to try, good luck! Hope you like it as much as I do. -
A new me & bit frustrated!
grubb79 replied to NVTammy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 11 days post op and completely understand. I haven't been able to tolerate any milk based protein drinks. Fortunately, I had bought some unflavored Isopure powder before surgery. It's great. I am getting the majority of my protein from putting it in some Crystal Light right now. Although, I can put a little in my soups and seem to do ok. You can find the Isopure at GNC and some online retailers. Good Luck! We'll be on mushies before we know it. I can't wait! -
I was sleeved on the 10th too! I have struggled the entire time to get my protein and fluids down. I am on liquids until week 3. Right now I can only hold about 3 oz at a time and have to wait a good 30-45 minutes before I can think of taking a sip of anything else or gas pains start up. I just left my 1 week post op. Of course, doc wasn't thrilled that I haven't been taking in enough but he said it could be that my stomach is still just swollen and since it's getting better everyday he'll just see me again next week and see where I'm at. I've lost 10 lbs since surgery and am apparently still taking in enough to keep me hydrated. So, all seems to be ok.

I was sleeved 1/10/13. How are you doing? I'm still in some pain when i sip on any liquids at all. I am trying my hardest to do everything the doctor has told me to do. But, it's been hard when a get a sharp burning pain every time something hits my stomach. I know it will be fine and before long I will be over this hurdle and all will be on track. Until then I'm a little sore, grouchy and ill.

i should be more nervous
grubb79 replied to FireRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm tomorrow morning as well..7:30 AM. I was nervous earlier today until I had to take the kids to my in laws to watch for the next few days. Since I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am, figured it was better to just have them stay there starting tonight so they don't have to get up so early. Now, I'm just sad and missing them. Once I wake up in the morning I'm sure all the anxiety will start hitting again. Good luck tomorrow! We're going to do great! -

Finally a Protein Drink I can handle!
grubb79 replied to lilpun75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just looked it up...it is! :-) Purified Water, Whey Protein Isolate, Phosphoric Acid, Natural Punch Flavor, Sucralose, Potassium Benzoate, FD&C Red No. 40. -
I have Cigna as well. My approval process included 5 years of weight history and 6 months supervised diet. Once all of the documentation was submitted I was also told a 5 day turnaround. Once I contacted Cigna on the 5th day to check the status, I had been denied. They denied me because the PCP noted that she recommended me for surgery, but didn't specifically state "cleared for surgery" on her paperwork. The patient advocate got that info from the PCP and faxed to them, received the approval 2 days later. :-) Well worth the hassle...I get sleeved 1/10. So excited! Good luck. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Not sure about Huntersville or Charlotte, but I do know of one in Concord. Not sure how far that'd be from you. It's at CMC Northeast (specifically at the NorthEast Health and Fitness Institute) the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. There will not be one in January, but they'll resume in Feb.

Hey everyone! My surgery is Jan 10th at 7:30 am with Dr. Bauman in Concord NC. So excited, but extremely nervous. Not so much about the surgery, but the recovery and learning to eat slower, dreading the pureed stage, etc. I know it will be ok. But, I tend to be a bit of a worry wart. I just think too much.

Got my date! 1/10/2013. WOOHOOO!
-
So extremely excited. Started the whole process back in June...and can now breathe because insurance approved Monday and they called with the date today! 1/10/2013! Starting to get a bit nervous, but more than ready to do it! Counting down the days now. At least the wait won't seem so long since the kids keep me pretty busy and we have Christmas around the corner. I have a feeling the time will fly by! YAY!!!

I got my approval today! YIPEE ~ so happy! Looks like surgery the first of the year for me. Now the task of figuring out where the $4000 up front out of pocket's going to come from. Might just have to wait till tax time. :-( But, at least I know I'm approved and almost there!

Well, I found out the PCP finally faxed over the final paperwork to Dr. Bauman's office. I was told they should be sending it over to Cigna in the next couple of days. (She said usually takes one or two to get it to them). Then we'll start the waiting game on insurance. But, if you had to wait 31 - my wait is probably going to be super long with the holidays and all. :-( Thanks for letting me know at least what I can possibly be expecting to wait. Now if it happens any earlier I'll be pleasantly suprised!
