OCNYMom started following Just Wanted To Say Thank You....., Fill Protocol...., 1St Fill & Stuck Episode and and 7 others
-
Just wondering what your doctors protocol is after getting a fill. My doctor says to follow this after a fill......24 hours of liquids (Water, crystal light), 2 days of shakes 3 times a day, 2 days of soft (mushy) then back to solids. Also, how many of your doctors are a "no carb" follower? 9 weeks post op here....have had 2 fills of 1/2 cc each bringing me to 5cc's (4cc's was put in at time of surgery) and have lost 36 pounds...not that anyone has noticed but Im still plugging along.....

Hey there.....getting stuck can be a scary experience. I have gotten stuck twice and it scared the daylights out of me. I know I was eating too fast and not chewing enough. I just had my first fill on Monday but the episodes happened before my fill. I dont think Im anywhere near the green zone being I have to stop myself when eating and I really dont feel any restriction. My doctor advised that after the fill I do 24 hours of liquid....2 days of just shakes 3x's a day and 2 days of mushies then I can go back to solid. I'm looking forward to my mushies today lol. Hang in there and remember little bites.....chew chew chew......we are re-teaching oursleves and changing something we have done for years and years and years.....we are in it together

Hey All I was banded on 6/27 and the doc put in 4cc's. I went for my first fill on Monday and they put in half of a cc. Needless to say....ummmm....Im starving...dont think this is gonna cut it...lol. I go back on the 27th...Im assuming to get another fill if this doesnt do the trick, which...its not My question is this....on the average.....what is the "cc" that usually does the trick? I know every person is different and tolerates things differently but just courious if there is an "average". Also, Ive been feeling very fustrated because no one has noticed my weight loss....and feel its all for nothing....but I did get some motivation....running into boyfriends ex wife....Hahahaha....

How Much Were You Able To Eat Before 1St Fill After Swelling Went Down? I'm Hungry ..freaking Out A Bit!
OCNYMom replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From being on the board here I see that every doctor is different. I was banded on 6/27/12 and went for my first fill today. At the time of surgery they filled my band with 4cc's...so today they filled me with half of cc. I was instructed to go back on liquids for 24 hours....then 2 days of shakes 3x's a day....then 2 days of mushy/soft then back on food. They want to see me back in two weeks to see how its going. Trying to find that "sweet spot" as SandyMax puts it Before today I had to stop myself when I was eating and yes....I was/am HUNGRY!!!I Im hoping that we find the right fit soon....I dont think this is gonna do it for me....lol. I have lost a total of 27lbs in 6 weeks but of course I am anxious for more to come off lol. Just one day at a time -
Frustrated!!!! Grrrrrr!!!!!

Thank you everyone for your input and support! I feel a little better knowing this is normal for this stage of the game. I guess I'm just anxious. I just have to stay strong and stick to my guns. Thanks again everyone!!! -
Ok.....Im 4 weeks post op....last Monday I went to the doctor and Im now on mushy/soft end of week one. I have this week on mushy/soft then I go back to the doctor.....then it will be solid for 2 weeks then 2 weeks after that my first fill. Up until last Monday I lost 24 lbs. I have NOT LOST A THING SINCE THEN!!!! I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a weeks doing the tredmill and bike and meet up with friends over the weekend who I saw the night before my surgery (they do not know I had the surgery done) and they did NOT notice any of my weight loss. I'm really not getting all that full and have to stop myself from over eating the mushy/soft stuff. Will it start coming off after I get my fill in 3 weeks? Needless to say....Im very depressed over this. Just have a feeling of all for nothing and that its never gonna come off.

When Did They Notice?
OCNYMom replied to texas-bandette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks post op and have lost 22 lbs. NO ONE has noticed ....well I shouldn't say that....my fiance says he can see the loss but I think he's just being nice. I dont see it at all...to me I still look the same. I went to the doctor on Monday and am now on "mushy/soft". Ive noticed that I havent lost anything since moving onto phase 2. Not feeling very good about this...... -

Dr. Trace Curry Patients, Diet Instructions After Surgery
OCNYMom replied to 2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok....I'm confused too.....does mushy count as a meal? Was banded on 6/27 and I go back to the doctor on Monday. For the last two weeks I have been doing protein shakes and liquids. My doctor said 2 weeks of 3 shakes a day and 48oz - 64oz of liquids a day. I'm not taking in the liquids I should....seems like too much. I'm supposed to start mushy on Monday. I will admit I have had a little bit of chicken salad with the chicken ground up so fine its like powder with some light mayo and I seemed to do ok with it. My thing is after eating something mushy...ie: yogurt, or the chicken salad or scrambled eggs....are we supposed to still drink the protein shakes?? And when you are on mushy are we still not drinking anything with that? ARUGH!!!!!!! -
It's hard for all of us. I was banded on 6/27 and the last 2 1/2 weeks have been hell with July 4th and all the burgers, dogs and just everyday living, with 3 other people in house who can eat anything they want. I've had more than one emotional breakdown and wanted to run to the pantry and fridge and just eat what I couldn't have. But I've held it together and you can too!!! You made a slip, just think about how you must heal and your own good physical well being. So next time you feel an urge to have something you shouldn't, fire up the computer....sit down....and log in here. Just remember you always have us here for support.

When Does Gas Pain Subside?
OCNYMom replied to knitmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 6/27....the bad gas pain subsided about a week or so after.....for the most part now it's gone but still get occaisional pain in the left shoulder. Seems to come about when I lay down in bed. But the gas pain was the worst for me too. -
I know that we aren't supposed to drink when we eat and not to drink 30 minutes before a meal and 30 minutes after. My question is.....does that only apply to solid food or does it apply to the soft/mushy stage as well? I have two more days left on just protein shakes and liquids....mushy never sounded so good!!!!

When Did Your Gas Go Away?
OCNYMom replied to texas-bandette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 6/27/12 and still experience sight pain in my left shoulder....usually when I lie down. It gets better day by day. I know how uncomfortable it is. Just walk as much as you can to help with that gas and let it out which ever way it wants to, lol. There is relief is sight
