    PB2

It's great for mixing into things like smoothies and yogurt...I haven't tried just mixing it with water to use "straight up" as peanut butter.
  2. See if you can get some single serve packets of the whey powder - Syntrax nectar are my favorites. That way you can take them with you on the plane with an empty shaker bottle, and just ask for some bottled Water to mix them with. I can't imagine heading to Disney at 4 weeks out... We are DVC members so we are there quite often. That place tires me out on a good day! Just take it easy and do what you can. All of the restaurants are really good about handling special requests - I'm gluten-free as well - just let them know when you get there, or note it on reservations that you have restrictions.

    Syntrax Nectar Protien Shakes

Syntrax Nectar shakes have been my saving grace...drinking Roadside Lemonade right now! I got my last batch from BJ's Bariatrics - you can make your own sample pack so you can just get the flavors you like.

    Unfortunately - same with me.

    Nooooooo!

Ugh...that sucks! I got mine in the hospital the day after my surgery, and it hasn't stopped yet. Tomorrow will be two weeks. Double ugh.

    Connecticut Sleevers?

    That's awesome - what a great feeling!
  7. Eggs aren't even on my list until week 6...which totally bums me out, because I love eggs!!

    But i dont wanna!

There are plenty of resources for workouts online to give you a little variety... The key is to find something you love. I have become a certified Zumbaholic over the past year. I am so upset right now that I have to sit out classes until I heal! I never thought I'd say that about exercise. I also love weight training - again, have to sit it out for a while. You really just have to find something you like and it won't feel like drudgery.

    What's that smell?

Ketosis. It sucks. I'm in the same boat - my surgery was the day after yours. Everything tastes nasty! http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/features/low-carb-diets-can-cause-bad-breath

    Protien shakes

Yes - that's exactly why I like them. I mix them with about 12 oz. of water and some ice. You could even do more water if you wanted to. They really have saved me. I think if I had to have vanilla and chocolate all the time I wouldn't have made it to this point. After today, 4 more days till puree!!!

    I hate liquids.

I can't have yogurt, pudding, or pureed soup until 3 weeks out - and no eggs until week 6. Ugh. 5 more days until I hit puree!!

    I hate liquids.

I'm with you... I've got 5 more days of liquids left. I have never been so excited to be able to eat mush before in my life!!!

    Just getting started

Welcome! I am a K-12 school administrator, so I totally get the scheduling thing. I tried as much as I could to work around my work schedule but it just didn't happen that way. I started the process in August not realizing our new insurance required 6 months of dietician visits, so that messed up having it done over Christmas break. I tried for February break, but the surgeon was not available, so I wound up taking FMLA. I was just sleeved on 3/26, and will be going back on 4/15. Fortunately, this is a quiet time of year for me (relatively speaking) and I'm able to keep up with most things via emails and phone calls. As far as what to do beforehand, my best advice is to start following the post-op recommendations now. Get into an exercise routine (which I already was before I started the process), take your Vitamins daily, and start focusing on the kinds of foods you'll be able to eat post-op...healthy Proteins, veggies, fruit, very limited starches. I fell into the "last supper" trap for a while there - ate just about anything I thought I might not be able to have again - but I didn't go crazy. Also, find out if you have to do any kind of pre-op liquid diet. I was lucky - I didn't have to. Just Clear liquids the day before. The other thing I recommend is to start looking for different Protein drinks to have on hand right after. I started getting sick of chocolate and vanilla, so I like the Syntrax nectar fruit flavors. I mix them with 12 oz. of Water and some ice - nice refreshing change. Hope all goes well for you - good luck!!
  14. I personally have trouble with the RTD shakes - they are too thick for me right now. I've had better luck using the powder and mixing my own - 8 oz. milk and 4 oz. water, or for the fruit flavored Syntrax Nectar ones just 12 oz. water and some ice. That way I actually wind up getting in some extra liquids too.
  15. Feet, huh? I just thought they tasted like thick Gatorade, which pretty much grossed me out. Ick...

    Suggestions during Pre-Op diet

I guess I should feel very lucky... I didn't have to do a pre-op diet, only clear liquids the day before. I definitely wouldn't have been able to last for those weeks before PLUS the post-op! I would definitely say stay away from the TV (stupid food commercials!!), get out and do something outside if possible!!
  17. My dietician told me to stay away from those protein "shots" as well. Same reasoning - the collagen protein is not absorbed as well. I'm almost 2 weeks out, and I've been using Premier premade (Costco) and lots of different kinds of protein powders to mix with milk and/or water. My favorites so far are the Syntrax Nectar packets - all kinds of fruit flavors that go really well with water and ice. Much lighter texture than some of the others, plus they're a great break from vanilla and chocolate. I order mine as a sample pack from BJ's Bariatrics - that way you can choose the flavors you want. They have quick shipping, too. Hope this helps.
  18. As far as getting sick of vanilla and chocolate, I knew I'd be in that boat, too. I love the Syntrax Nectar fruit flavors - I mix them up with ice and water and they are great. I order them from BJ's Bariatrics - shipping is quick!

    Eating

I'm on all liquids until I go back for my 3 week follow-up this Friday, then I can move to puréed stage.

    3 weeks post op

I would stay away from the alcohol if I were you - I was told no alcohol for the first year post-op. not only that - it will dehydrate you...

    Day 3 Post Op...Ouch

I'm almost 2 weeks out...it does get better!! Hang in there!
