    Protein Shake = Diarrhea

I had issues with lactose post op...never had problems before. Better now - will be 7 weeks out tomorrow.
  2. I was on liquids for 3 weeks, purée for 1, soft chopped for 1, and then moved on. I haven't had any issues at all.
  3. I'm almost 7 weeks post op now, and at this point everything for me is trial and error. Some foods seem to go down fine, while others make me feel horrible. I'm sure we all go through this, but there are times when I'm really just afraid to try new things. I'm basically vomit-phobic, so when I do try new things it's rather anxiety producing. Anyone else feel this way? What are your "no go" foods so far? Here's what I've had trouble with so far... Morningstar veggie sausage parties (tried twice) Leftover tilapia (reheating made it too dry) Asparagus Eggplant Shu Mai (steamed Japanese shrimp dumplings)

    protein drinks opinions

I like the Carnation Instant Breakfast the best out of those choices. Just be aware - I had issues with lactose right after surgery for a few weeks. Wound up using lactose free milk, and I couldn't use Glucerna - they made me sick. Might not happen to you, but I have heard that it's pretty common. I used some others - Syntrax nectar were my favorite. If you want to try something else, I'd take the nutrition information to your doc.

    Hunger

It's just a few more days...I was on all liquids for 3 weeks post op. If I made it through that, you can do this!

    Solids, why must you hurt?

I was on liquids for 3 weeks post op, then one week each of purée and "mechanical soft" (super fine chopped soft foods). Now almost 7 weeks out and I'm still struggling with certain things. It's all about patience and trial and error. Take a step back if it doesn't work, and try again another day.

    Need some encouragement!

Sleeved at the end of March - lost 27 in the first 3 weeks and then hit the dreaded stall... Just broke through by upping my calories and my exercise - down another 7 in the past two weeks. It will happen!!

    Starbucks

I usually get a tall decaf nonfat latte. 10 g of protein from the milk.
  11. I took 3 weeks. I probably could have gone back after 2, but I was glad to have the 3rd week to get some of my energy back.

    how long

No matter what you do, follow what your surgeon and dietician/nutritionist advise you to do. Don't jump the gun - let yourself heal...

    Always cold

It's very common! Think about it...you lost all that insulation!!
  19. Wow...that's a long purée stage! Try googling it - I found some great stuff that way. Also try looking up the blog "The World According to Eggface" - Shelly has great ideas. You can also search the threads here as well.

    Slimies. Foamies.

Happened to me for the first time last night (almost 6 weeks out). Ate too much too fast. Never want to experience that again - especially since I was at a restaurant!!

    Rewarding yourself...

I treat myself to mani/pedis and things like that...nothing major. A new piece of clothing (when I need it), or just a little "me" time!

    Help!

Going out for Japanese food...suggestions? 6 weeks post op - haven't had any major food issues yet.
  24. bmbrush413

    Help!

Suffice to say - lesson learned! Would definitely stick with just the fish next time!!

    Help!

Well...I tried steamed shu mai (the little shrimp dumplings) and learned that 4 is my limit - after eating 5 and having to excuse myself to run to the ladies room! Still all trial and error. I only got to try one piece of the salmon dish I ordered - had cucumber and avocado with a yummy ginger dressing - no rice. Would stick with that next time. Thanks for the advice all!!
