    nauseated

I'm surprised they didn't tell you about the increased risk - since I still have my gallbladder I have to be on medication to prevent gallstones for the first 6 months. I'm also on an acid reducer (but already was).
  2. I was given Ursadiol pills to prevent gallstones since I still have my gallbladder. I finally got up the guts to try to take one today (they're HUGE) and I just swallowed half of one. Does anyone else have to take these things? I think I'm going to crush the other half. My stomach hurts now - and I wonder if it's just the anxiety of taking it, or if it really is too big even cut in half. Anyone?

    Rice Rice Baby...

I'm less than a week post-op, so I have no idea how it will sit with me, but I love to make fried "rice" with cauliflower. This is the recipe I have used in the past - maybe some of you would like it. http://nomnompaleo.com/post/3195098303/asian-cauliflower-fried-rice

    Sleeved 3/18 - a bit overwhelmed

I am practically living on sugar free popsicles to keep me hydrated at the moment. I find it really hard to drink without taking sips that are too big - then my sleeve spasms. I am supposed to take these monster anti-gallstone pills as well, but I'm scared to death to swallow them! I just broke one in half and took half. Maybe it's just my anxiety, but I had a hard time getting it down. I'm still just staring at the other half... As far as the multiivitamin question goes, I've been taking Opurity (made by the Unjury protein people). They're not terrible, but I just wish they weren't so acidic/bitter.

Has anyone taken "HYDROXYCUT" after VSG surgery?

I took them a long time ago before surgery - all they did was make me feel sick and make my heart race. Don't do it! Your body may have found a set point where it is happy... Have you tried working with weights? May not help the scale number, but would help with the measurements.

    Any suggestions....

I'm having the same problem (sleeved 3/26). I finally got a whole protein drink down yesterday, but it has been really slow going. The spasm thing has been awful. I've been trying to do something warm first (tea, broth) to help calm things down, and I'm drinking everything else at room temp.
  9. I gained about 4 lbs of fluid, but have dropped that and then some since I got home. I was lucky I didn't retain much. I was up peeing constantly! Now if only I could get rid of these stupid gas pains I'd be golden!! Left shoulder kills - and I just want to fold up in a ball until it's gone! So far Gas-X and walking aren't doing a lot.

    liquor

I was told no alcoholic beverages for at least a year by my doc. They emphasize the fact that your liver is like the housekeeper and needs to filter so much junk out of your blood as you lose, that asking it to metabolize alcohol on top of that could cause serious damage. I've also heard through some other groups that I belong to that people have gotten seriously ill and died just from a couple of drinks after WLS because of the way their new system works. Totally not worth the risk to me. I love a glass of wine (or a mojito, or margarita...) as much as the next person, but I'm not going to chance it for at least a year.

    Post op march sleevers

Had one today - like a celebration! LOL

    Post-op diet progressions

I'm on all liquids until my 3 week follow up - includes water, tea, sugar free drinks (crystal lite, etc), sugar free jello, broth, fat free or 1% milk, protein shakes, etc. After that, purée for a week, small chopped for a week, then "regular" diet. I feel like I'm on liquids way longer than most folks here...

    Calcium citrate chews?

Calcet chewables - they are awesome! They come in chocolate and lemon. BA caramel chews are okay, too - but the Calcet chocolate are like little fudge squares!

    Throwing Up Chewble Vitamins!

I also take the Opurity multis - they are gargantuan! My doc said absolutely no gummies, and no Flintstones. They are actually not allowed to endorse anyone company or give samples, so I was dependent on a friend of mine for advice. I have the Wellesse liquid calcium for now (tastes like creamsicle!) and when I'm done with that, Calcet chewables. Not sure what to do when I run out of the Opurity though. They are huge and expensive.
  15. My favorites have been the Nectar flavors...Vanilla Bean Torte, Double Stuffed Cookie, and Lemon Tea were all good. Had trouble stomaching anything else so far.

    Birth control options

I have a Mirena - had it for almost 4 years now, so time to start thinking about replacement options (good for 5 years). I haven't had many issues - just some off-cycle spotting once in a while.

    Post op march sleevers

Sleeved on 3/26 - had to stay an extra night in the hospital because I couldn't get liquids down without major spasms, and the Glucerna shakes they gave me i just couldn't tolerate. I've been home for 2 days now - finally got an entire protein drink in yesterday, but it took me almost all day. I used the Nectar Vanilla Bean Torte flavor mixed with water. Can't do the milk based stuff yet. Other than that, just tea, water, crystal lite, and Popsicles trying to get my fluids in. Doc told me to worry more about fluids than protein at first. Thankfully I only gained about 2 pounds post-op, and I've lost that plus another 2 since I came home (as of yesterday). I didn't have to do a pre-op diet like most of you did, and I didn't come home with a drain. I'm on liquids only (no puréed food or anything) until my 3 week post-op appt on 4/12. I've been finding that having tea or something warm first helps with the spasms. I'm going to call on Monday if they don't start getting better. It may still be gas pain...who knows! At least I feel better than I did!! Thanks to everyone who has posted for helping me see the light at the end of the tunnel!!
