I am using Dr. Kelly on the 18th but used a piece of my 401K to fund so did no ask him about financing . Best way to find out would be to ask Omar in an E- mail . Worst they can say is no. Even at the low Mexico rate compared to USA rate I know cost and financing can be an issue for most as 5,000- 10,000 is still a lot of money . I hope you find a way to pass this little bump in the road.

I leave in two weeks, I will be in Tijuana with Dr. Kelly. So, not to be too nosy up in everyone's business, but can everyone who already went give me an estimate of what amount of "extra" money I should be bringing. We will be staying one extra day due to unavailable flights on what would have been our normal departure date . I will be traveling with my husband(so there are two of us) He is going to want to eat that I know for sure. Did anyone feel well enough to go out and do anything while they were there? Go get a massage, go shopping in the market, anything ? Also, I read somewhere people talking about tipping the hospital staff ? Is that correct and if so what is the standard percent ? Sounds odd I know, but I hate bad tippers and just because it is not the norm here in the states does not mean I am going to be rude if it is the standard there .

I am getting in ( flying in ) the afternoon before my surgery so that will be a little different for me but I imagine I will hit the operating pretty early the next morning . You already lost 10 pounds was this during your pre -op diet ? I start mine on Saturday and am determined to be good and faithful to the cause

Above and beyond that though, what about Omar. Sounds like from everyone he has been of service to he is the one I should look forward to tipping .

HaHa, ya sorry I snatched up the 18th. I was actually going to be the 22nd but our middle daughter starts college on the 27th and we did not want to be getting back just the day before. We will be at the same Hotel though, so that will be cool . I will send you my number also. I think i will just have it set for text though I guess verizon sucks for trips to Mexico pricing so we only added the international plan to my husbands AT & T phone so he will do all the calling home to the kids.

Sassafras, do you have surgery on the 17th or arrive on the 17th? I arrive on the 17th. A few folks a couple days before and after my date. You so far are the closest date to mind I have seen here.

Shape Shifter, are you at the hotel now? Are you finding that less isolating than the bummer side of the hospital? I am grateful my husband will travel with me, but when you get home you will be an official bad a$$ having made this journey on your own

My fantasy is to never turn down a water based event again. I do not even own a swimsuit. I have not owned one for 6 years.I want to own a dozen of them. I want to wear them down the lazy river, I want to wear them at the water park, I want to wear them on the boat, I want to wear them at the pool on girls weekend.I want to wear them in the front yard while I water the lawn.I want to plan entire vacations based only on swimsuits. You get the idea!!!

I am making myself a little ( big ) chart to compare Dr Kelly & Dr Aceves as I make my final choice. I can not figure out in my research though what hospital or hotel for that matter Dr Kelly is currently using. Anyone know ? Thanks !

Oh, interesting. I did not know he worked out of multiple hospitals. I thought he was just with Florence these days. Good to know! Will you use the same hotel as everyone else ?

Wow, lots of us down in Mexico rounding out the end of August with Dr. Kelly! My husband and I are also going to be missing our 13,15 & 19 year old at home . We have two older ones but they are grown at 23 & 21 . We have not told our kids why we are leaving just that we are off on a vacation so they do not worry. I am sure everyone will do great!

You are doing great on your weight loss, congrats. I got an e mail back from Omar this morning and he said Dr. Kelly does use Heparin during surgery as a preventative measure. I use compression stockings here at home already thanks to my crappy veins. Omar also offered the egg shell if we want, we will just have to play it by ear. Having your spine fused at three levels tends to make everything uncomfortable. My hubby can not get a good nights rest on our King sized sleep number , wherever he sleeps hotel or hospital i will be comforted knowing he is nearby.

I will fly in on Friday the 17th, surgery on the 18th and Omar will return my husband and me to SAN on the 22nd. I have no worries about pain. I have had multiple vein / leg surgeries due to venous insufficiency.So while I am happy no one had any blood clot issues, I am still really worried. Heparin is commonly used as a preventative measure for surgery here in the states. I do not doubt Dr. Kelly's competency, but was hoping Heparin was in his bag of tricks.

Does Dr. Kelly use Heparin shots? I can ask Omar I guess. I feel like I am always asking him something so I thought i would try out here . I am so nervous about the whole blood clot subject. It is just in my head and I can not get it out. I am finally scheduled 09/18/12.

Oh, also I can only dream it (weight)will come off to fast.

Oh geez, I just noticed I put 2005 not 205. Yeah, I am chubby but I do not have a bmi of 432;) Thanks for the info. I am actually hoping my hubby will just go back to the hotel for his own comfort but he is such a sweetie, we will just play it off the cuff.
