Heyher got a reaction from gmanbat in Prednisone
I finished my round of treatment on Wednesday. I took mine for a recent ms flare up.
Neurologist told me side effects can last for weeks after you finish. I was always given solu medrol and though it sucks I could tolerate the side effects better then prednisone.
Protein Shakes for me for the next few weeks.
My hands look like baseball gloves from all the Fluid retention.

Prednisone puffed me up while I was getting cancer treatment. It was intended to alleviate the side effects of chemo. That coupled with Lupron anti-testosterone hormone treatment packed on the pounds. Anxiety, depression, yup.
    I feel your pain.

Heyher got a reaction from kltklass in Before you post you've "only lost X pounds"
I posted something similar to this when I was preop.
I think that so many expect the weight to just melt off at a rate of 20lbs a month for 6+ months. I don't know of anyone who had those kinds of numbers on here. I lost about 60lbs in my first three months. 10lbs month 4 and 5lbs this month. I'm slowing way down as I get closer to goal. With only 25 or so left to goal, I know it's not going to be easy.
But I'll take my 5lbs lost this month. Because that's 5lbs less. I would take 1lb a month loss because that would mean I'm not gaining.
Early out in the first month or two when hormones are all out of whack, I think it is easy to go into a tailspin of panic that you will be the one person this doesn't work for. But if you are following the plan, then you will lose. Might not be at the pace you want, but a loss is a loss. Every ounce lost should be celebrated because that is one ounce closer to goal and one ounce less you are carrying around.
It is hard in the beginning. But don't focus on how far you have to go. Stop and look at how far you have come!!! Look back at trying your shoes preop compared to now. Think about the waist line from your pants digging in to needing a belt. Post your NSV and enjoy every aspect of this journey. Don't be a slave to the scale. We can't get fixated on seeing our magic number pop up when we step on the scale. We need to focus on the journey so we can learn healthy lifestyles. That way the destination won't be so scary.

So I am just wondering if anyone else on here has been on prednisone post sleeve.
I was it for three weeks and it sucks.
Also I haven't gained a lot of weight, but I am not losing and my face is puffy and my tummy is all distended. Other side effects of anxiety and depression which triggers head hunger. I'm done with the treatment, but side effects can linger for weeks to months...
Just needing to vent about this sucky situation.
    Pity party for heather....

Heyher got a reaction from kryssaboo in what's the difference between something that fits and something that's tight?
I'm not a vet, sorry. But I thought I would throw out a suggestion... Maybe go to a boutique type store and ask the sales person what shape might look best. Then try three sizes. One a size bigger, the size you think you need, and one smaller. Go with what you feel confident in. When you look in the mirror be honest about how you feel in the clothes. What makes you hold your head higher and stand taller? Don't think about how others will perceive you. Focus on if the clothes make you happy and confident. :-)

Three months out is still so new. I'm 5 1/2 and still so new at this. In the early stages it is normal to mourn the loss of your "friend" food. But it does get better. It does get easier. Soon life as a sleever and eating becomes the new normal. Small bites chewed well will become your normal way of eating.
Maybe talking to a specialist who work with bariatric patients or something similar would help. Or a support group. Something so you don't feel alone in this journey.
But try to keep your head up. You are doing awesome!!

Heyher got a reaction from Madam Reverie in Controversial - The evaluation of before and after. Healthier by definition, but does everyone who is VSG'd really 'look' better?
I think that in the back of my head the reason I keep setting my goal weight higher (started with a goal of 145 now it's set at 154) is the fear if looking too thin. Looking sickly. I don't want to look ill. I did this so I could look, feel, and be healthy. As I get closer to goal I'm happy with my size now. I wear size 8 dress pants and a medium or large top depending on the store. I don't have dreams and aspirations of wearing a size 4. I have curves and I love them. But I love that there is less of them. I didn't look better before. I looked fat. And with a 50" waist on a 5'6" female, well that's just not good.
Now with a 35" waist I look and feel better. I still have some areas I would like to lose from. But I don't want that sunken ill look. I want to look how I feel. Happy and healthy. If that means I don't get to wear a size 4, well then so be it.
Ummmmm I have no idea if that even came close to answering your question.

    Lost 76lbs in 5 months.
As I get closer to goal I may adjust. Originally I thought 150. But I am thinking even 160 would look fine on me. Maybe around 158 with a 2lb bounce. So 156-160 would be good.

Heyher reacted to gmanbat in VSG: status symbol?
    http://www.dailymail...tus-symbol.html
Plastic surgery, tummy tucks, liposuction, etc. are talked about freely as status symbols for celebrities and even normal folks.
Why should us bariatric surgery stars lurk around in shadows like we've done something wrong?
A great percentage of new posts on here are about whether to tell folks. A prevailing reason not to reveal is because people are either ignorant, rude or both and you dread their reactions. The problem is theirs, not yours. .
A great majority of sleevers here are thoughtful, intelligent people. I have experienced kindness here that I have not experienced in many a forum. We are not stupid, careless people.
The surgery speaks well of us: we are aggressively taking charge of our lives. We have the courage to do something radical, not because it might work but because it will work. Most of us understand that the VSG is just a tool and we know that a fundamental change in many aspects of our behavior is required. This is no diet fad, this is a decisive people doing what has to be done for the sake of our lives and the lives of our loved ones. Society in general benefits because our defeat of obesity transforms us into more productive contributors.
So what is to be ashamed of? Nothing!
Hold your head high, those belly scars are badges of honor. Everyone has problems. You are dealing with yours head on. It speaks well of your courage and passion for life.
I have been a minister for many years. I know that the way you present something has a great deal to do with how it is received. If you act ashamed the hearers will get the impression that you've done a shameful thing. If you talk about it like you just purchased a Maserati the majority of folks will get the impression that you are on to something great.
Your status is in your heart, in your head, and in your hands. Stand up,... be proud!

Congrats on your awesome check up!!! I hope to be doing as well as you when I'm a vet!
After hearing the doc say stretching is possible and those who are trying the 5/2, do you notice increased restriction the day after your fast day?
I'm a ways away from trying that since I still can only do 1/3 cup dense Protein and have a ways before maintenance. Just wondering if the 5/2 is kind of helping keep that feeling of restriction fresh for lack of a better word.
