Four months out and man my head hunger is really testing my resolve. Had a good dinner, so I know it's not physical hunger. Just struggling with not being able to binge eat, and I worry it may start transitioning to grazing. Ugh.... :-(

I was told never preferably. But if I wanted soda to wait three months. Then pour over ice and let it go flat. I enjoy a Pepsi next from time to time. But it is a treat not a major staple in my diet.

Controversial - The evaluation of before and after. Healthier by definition, but does everyone who is VSG'd really 'look' better?
Heyher replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Rants & Raves
I think that in the back of my head the reason I keep setting my goal weight higher (started with a goal of 145 now it's set at 154) is the fear if looking too thin. Looking sickly. I don't want to look ill. I did this so I could look, feel, and be healthy. As I get closer to goal I'm happy with my size now. I wear size 8 dress pants and a medium or large top depending on the store. I don't have dreams and aspirations of wearing a size 4. I have curves and I love them. But I love that there is less of them. I didn't look better before. I looked fat. And with a 50" waist on a 5'6" female, well that's just not good. Now with a 35" waist I look and feel better. I still have some areas I would like to lose from. But I don't want that sunken ill look. I want to look how I feel. Happy and healthy. If that means I don't get to wear a size 4, well then so be it. Ummmmm I have no idea if that even came close to answering your question. -
They try to hard to loose the weight so there not worried about grammar. :-) But I feel your pain.

Three months out is still so new. I'm 5 1/2 and still so new at this. In the early stages it is normal to mourn the loss of your "friend" food. But it does get better. It does get easier. Soon life as a sleever and eating becomes the new normal. Small bites chewed well will become your normal way of eating. Maybe talking to a specialist who work with bariatric patients or something similar would help. Or a support group. Something so you don't feel alone in this journey. But try to keep your head up. You are doing awesome!!

Did u have a jp drain?
Heyher replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had a drain for a week. Wasn't a big deal at all. But I agree that when they take it out it is such a strange feeling. Before you understand what's going on its out and you feel so much better! -
Stories we tell...how do you not "lie" without saying you had WLS?
Heyher replied to Slurpee_girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Portion control, counting calories, high Protein, balanced diet, and working with nutritionist. All true. They just don't need to know about surgery. -
5 years post op- total honesty
Heyher replied to kesleea1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It really opened my eyes. At 5 months I'm still in the honeymoon phase and picturing life at 1, 2, 4+ years out is impossible right now. There is a vet forum on here with so many helpful and knowledgable people. They are experimenting with a 5:2 diet. They would probably be willing to help you get started on that to lose some regain if you wanted to try. Thank you again for being so open and honest and I truly wish you the best of luck!!!! -
I average 3.5 a week and was told that was way above the expected. Like hatheryomw my surgeon said 1-2 a week. I'm slowing down as I get closer to 6 months so my average may adjust.

SW 245 CW 174 GW 155ish Surgery date 2/26/13 Lost 76lbs in 5 months. As I get closer to goal I may adjust. Originally I thought 150. But I am thinking even 160 would look fine on me. Maybe around 158 with a 2lb bounce. So 156-160 would be good. -
Here are my 5 month pics. Down 75 from my highest, so I thought I would be brave.... Surgery date 2/26 height 5'6" HW 250 SW 245 CW 174 Starting measurements Chest 52.5 Stomach 50 Hips 49 Current measurements Chest 41 Stomach 35 Hips 39

11 days post op - scared I can eat alot
Heyher replied to tml74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with amazon. At 11 days out your stomach is still healing and probably still numb. Measure out 2oz of food and try to take 20 min o eat it. Might not take that long, but don't want to push things. -

For me I get very fatigued. Think back to day three postop. Been feeling run down like that for a while now. Also I can't grip things with my left hand. I don't have the muscle coordination to hold things. My left leg is weak, unbalanced, wobbly, and numb. Feels like I have a few 10lb weights strapped too tightly to my leg. Then there is cognitive. I fumble for words, mispronounce words, constantly lose my train of thought, and for extra fun add a handful of anxiety. 10 years after dx and I think I'm doing pretty good. Just noticing I'm not bouncing back from episodes to 100%.

I have been on a round of prednisone for a recent MS episode and man is it messing me up!! I thought they were brutal before, but my tiny tummy is pissed off. The only thing that doesn't make me almost vomit or crap myself is oyster crackers. And I know the salt and carbs are not helping me lose weight. Even water has a metallic chemical taste. One more week to go.....
-
Thank you!!! Didn't think I had the courage to post a pic showing my tummy. Loose skin is the pits. LoL!!!!

Congrats on your awesome check up!!! I hope to be doing as well as you when I'm a vet! After hearing the doc say stretching is possible and those who are trying the 5/2, do you notice increased restriction the day after your fast day? I'm a ways away from trying that since I still can only do 1/3 cup dense Protein and have a ways before maintenance. Just wondering if the 5/2 is kind of helping keep that feeling of restriction fresh for lack of a better word.

The first two weeks if I tried to drink cold stuff it would feel like my tummy was spasming. It hurt. But around 2.5 to three weeks I could start drinking cold stuff again. Now the only thing I can't do is chug. Sip sip sip is my new way of life. :-)
