Same here. If I try to drink while eating I can hardly eat anything. I still feel like I get full on Water. Thought I was strange. Well I guess I am strange :-) but at least I'm not alone with this.

Share your "slow loss" success!

So I think I might have broke out of my stall. Down .2 lbs from doc appointment yesterday. Lost the two lbs I gained while doing steroids already. So this is down from my lowest weight before. I'm not going to say I have for sure broke the stall, but my fingers are crossed that I did. -
When I was still on liquids I would blend isopure and ice to make my own slurpee. Granted by the end of the week I wanted to throw the isopure at the blender. But it had protein and low carb.

At times I do worry about going from one extreme to the other. Preop I was a binge eater. I had no concept of portion size and to me more was better. Now at times I find myself thinking I'm not hungry. I could probably go for days without eating. I don't let myself because of other health issues that would greatly suffer from me not eating. But it is frightening for me to think about testing it. If it ever gets to where I am seriously considering trying it I will go to counseling. I think transfer addiction is one of the biggest things we need to be mindful of. We are addicts through and through. And we need to stay vigilant about not finding a new way for us to get our "high".

Last night I had chicken, green beans, and 1/2 a slice of toasted French bread. (Toasted is the only way I can do bread and I know it's bad, but ohhhhh so good on occasion) Well I measured out the same amount for lunch today because it was enough to fill me up, but not make me overly full. Ate my chicken. Then my green beans. Got two bites of bread in and realized I was stuffed. Ugh. Stomach decided today I wouldn't be able to eat as much. Just waiting for the icky feeling to pass....

6 months put and I still get restriction from too much water. I measure my food so typically that's not an issue. But if I drink too much water at one time I can feel it for sure.

Mashed potatoes aren't the most nutritionally sound food right now. Lots of starch and carbs. If you want something like that try mashed cauliflower. I personally don't care for it, but a lot of people love it. Right now the main focus should be protein and fluids. When further out adding mashed potatoes on occasion is fine.

"Hi, my name is George" - says my tummy - did you name your sleeve?
Heyher replied to Pookeyism's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Squishy. I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine and he will be my squishy. Edit: Squishy when she behaves. Sleeve Buscemi when she acts stupid. -
I do minimal exercise but that's due to ms. I try more, but it knocks me on my butt. I try to walk when I can. I'm down 76 from surgery about 6 months ago. I'm in a stall due to steroids and not bring able to exercise. Hoping it will break soon. But I'm happy with where I am too.

sleeved On the 20th still In the hospital
Heyher replied to Dee White's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also make sure you stay on top of nausea meds. If they haven't given you anything for it ask. No need to suffer or be a hero. -
sleeved On the 20th still In the hospital
Heyher replied to Dee White's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You made the right decision. It's rough for the first few days but it does get better. Take your pain meds and walk as much as possible. That helps work out the gas and prevents blood clots. By the end of week 1 I was off pain meds. You will be surprised at how fast you recover. But if you feel like the pain is too much or something is truly wrong be persistent. GEHA insurance ( united health care)
Heyher replied to cricketcree's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would call your insurance and ask them what their contracted rate is. Also ask the hospital if you could put down the money you have and make monthly payments. A lot of hospitals don't advertise making payments, but their financial advisors typically work something out. Going to a new insurance might start the six month diet over. So just be aware if that. -
I will be six months out Monday. I researched this surgery for quite a while before I even met with a surgeon. Then I had an additional 6 months of insurance denials and waiting to research it more. I don't know if I will ever consider myself a vet. Too many mentors to name on here to look up to. But I also think I went into this with a balanced realistic approach. I didn't expect to drop all my weight in 4 months. I'm beyond pleased I lost 76 in 6 months. I know my capacity will increase the further out I get and if I don't lose weight for a short amount of time it doesn't mean I am done. (Even when the irrational voice tells me I am) Stalls are no weight loss for 2-3 weeks+. Not 2 days. I still struggle with balancing my carbs, protein, water intake, ect. And honestly I don't know if I will ever truly will find that magic balance. But I do hope to one day be able to pay forward the knowledge that the vets gave me.

So...what does YOURS feel like?
Heyher replied to Karnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I typically feel restriction. Like I can eat more, but it would be unwise. I guess a pressure in my tummy. Also get the food in my esophagus feeling as well. If I get to that point then I know it's time to stop. -
How fast did you get to goal?
Heyher replied to misslady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My doctors goal was a normal BMI for me. I'm 6 month out and down 76 with 20 more to go. I'm hoping to get to goal by 1 year.
