    Diet Pills.?

I don't have any medical facts to say not to. But that just sounds bad. If she is thinking that, she should ask her surgeon if it's okay... Don't know why but I have a feeling the answer will be not to.
  2. My surgeon requires 4 weeks off the pill before and 6 weeks after. Women on birth control have a greater risk of blood clots. So they want it to be out of your system to reduce the risk of blood clots post surgery.

    Moving To Denver

I am working towards my sleeve, so I'm not an after yet. LoL!!! But Dr. Snyder is who I am using. He operates at rose medical center. They are a COE and they have support groups that you can locate through them I think. Also in Lakewood. Beautiful city! Great choice!!
  4. I watched two videos, and while it was a little scary thinking "they will be doing this to me??" it also answered questions I had. To nick the heart they would have to go through the diaphragm past the lungs and to the left. I hope my surgeon knows when he reachs the diaphragm to stop. LoL!! Pre op nerves can get people thinking worst case scenarios. Just imagine when you go in for surgery the doc is in the back practicing on a game of operation. LoL!!!

    Freaking Out......

If you guys are suffering from sleep loss, try taking one tylonal pm (only one) about an hour before you want to go to sleep. It isn't habit forming and with only one, you don't wake up feeling groggy like when you take the reccinended two. I have been diagnosed as an insomniac. Goes with the territory that is ms. So I have perceptions for sleep pills. But in not a fan and use them as a last resort. If I start going through a bout of insomnia, I try the one tylonal pm (pcp reccomendation) to try to head off the three week sleep loss... If it is just from the nerves, the tylonal pm will help slow down your brain so you can sleep. Or you can go even more holistic and take chamomile or valerian or melatonin pills. LoL I have tried a lot. :-)
  6. So I have one week left to smoke. For fellow and ex fellow smokers, they know that feeling. Excitement and sadness. I'm ready, but I will miss it. Hypnosis worked before. Walked out smoke free for almost two years. But wasn't ready. Now three years later I am ready.
  7. Thanks!! I have a great support system at home and all you wonderful people here! I can do it! One more step to my sleeve!!!
  8. With MS I get an MRI every year. Not what I call fun times.... LoL!!! I have to tell the same office every year that I have screws in my knee.... Might be a liability thing, idk. But they always ask. Like I'll have the screws holding my knee together taken out. I wish. LoL!!! They don't cause any problems with the MRI, but you still have to tell them every time.... NOTE IT ON MY CHART PROPLE!! LoL!!!!!
  9. And not silly questions. :-) I'm sure there are quite a few that wonder the same thing. Only reason I know is because I demolished my knee and had it rebuilt. Had an MRI not too long after, and had to tell them. Not the best way to learn that little tidbit. But it is what it is.
  10. I have mri's every year and I have some medical screws and buttons in my knee. It has never caused problems with the MRI. But with any forgin metal object you need to let the doctor and also the MRI tech prior to the scan.

    Off To The Hospital

Prayers are with you!!! You will do GREAT!!!
  12. My neuro is behind my decision. He even knows the surgeon I'm going to use! He really likes him. And dr Snyder has even operated on a few of dr rounds other patients!!
  13. Hope I can get his blessing to proceed with trying to get the surgery.
  14. Just wondering if anyone has had expierence with being sleeved by him. What was the expierence like?
  15. Some people think that being thin is the key to happiness. And some people get mad when it is said that no matter how skinny, ugly personalities will always be ugly. Not saying it to anyone in particular. Just noting some people might get mad, offended, whatever. But when they do, I often wonder if there is a hint of truth that they see and it hits a nerve. Again not saying you or people on this thread. But some posts on this site, you wonder if they are seeing this as their fix all for unhappiness and not looking to see if there might be underlying causes for some of the body issues. And some, I wonder, may be using the new body for validation that they are worth something and not what they thought others perceived them as, being worthless. Human psyche is just very interesting to me... Should have been a psychiatrist, not accountant. LoL!!!!
  16. Yes physical attraction does have to be there. And yes your apperence is the first thing to be noticed. But if you put being hot above being a good person, then no matter how skinny you are, then the ugly personality will turn people off faster the being overweight. Get mad, defensive, upset, all of the above... But I'm just speaking my personal opinion and experience.

    Nervous

I think being nervous is a good thing. I know I get nervous, and I don't have my approval yet. LoL!!! But Dr Snyder seems to have a voodoo spell over UHC, so don't from what I hear, getting approval with him is pretty smooth. (fingers crossed) But one thing I have learned from my mom (who had bypass done by him) and others on this forum, is if you are not even the tinyest bit nervous then you might have not fully accepted or understood the reality, risks, and major life changes you are embarking on. Totally normal to be nervous. But you aren't alone. This forum is amazing and the people here are so supportive. Don't dwell, accept being nervous is normal, and picture your first outfit your getting when you hit your goal weights. (every milestone deserves a new outfit, right?) :-) Peace, love, and jitterbug.
  18. I wonder my self at times why they don't. But then I think they could have some dismorphia about them not seeing them selves as big as they truly are. Or they don't have the means to have the surgery. Or any one of the many other possibilities. Or it could be they are perfectly fine with how they look or are not willing to make the sacrifices needed for the surgery. Whatever their reasoning, I just tell myself I can't judge them and pray for their health and happiness. :::steps off soap box::: :-)

    Surgery Tomorrow!

    Prayers are with you!
  21. So I am the type of person who has to have things in order before I do something major. :-) I am looking through my insurance documents to see what all I will need for approval. I went without any insurance for 2.5 years from mid 2007 to early 2009. Late 2008 I thought I found a way to lose weight and keep it off... Well it did not work and three years later I am back up plus 20lbs. My insurance company requires 5 years weight history, but I only have 3, and a portion of that time my weight was down. Do you think they would accept weight history prior to losing my insurance? If they look at that they will see I have had weight issues basically my whole life... I think I'm having more signs of hypoglycemia more often. Also diabetes, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure runs in my family.... So I need this so I can get married to my wonderful fiancé and start a family and be there for the kids when we have them... Sorry for the rambling, but I am so freaked that they will tell me no........
  22. Sleevehopeful, good luck and I hope you have a smooth trip and quick recovery!! So happy you have the opportunity to go to Mexico! :-) Sherry, that gives me hope. I have the Choice Plus HDHP... So fingers crossed they approve me. Going to call them to see what they say about it. Fingers crossed.
