It's on my face. Hate them, but thankful it didn't cause eye problems. Bummed I will have scars on my face. Hope they aren't too noticeable by the wedding.

Well with the shingles we had to delay. So now I'm on for 2/25. Praying its all cleared up and I'm healed up in time.

Off work three weeks. Surgery is delayed. Moving from 4th to 18th I think. This is pain. Eye is swollen shut. Ugh. WWWWWHHHHYYYYYYYY???????? :-(
-
Was told its highly contagious. Since its on my face, I can't cover it the same as if it were on my body. Need to take extra precautions until they are all scabbed over.

Thank you so much!!! This is the first time I have had them. Since its on my face, it's harder to cover up. Can't risk infection....

Thank you so much for this!!!! I needed to hear from someone who had a similar experience with pain after the reduction. I don't expect I will go into surgery with the expectation of smooth sailing. But I think I can go into surgery with out having a complete melt down. And everyone who posted on this thread. You all have helped so much!! I'm no longer in full on panic mode and have moved back to just nervous. I really do appreciate everyone's encouragement. Gotta keep my eye on the prize!!! Getting back into my size 8 pants. :-)

So last night I got some small bowls for post op life. I had a few gut check realizations. 1) that tiny bowl will be my portion for the rest of my life. 2) this is really happening. 3) I am so freaked out about pain after surgery. I had a breast reduction when I was 17, and I woke myself up screaming in pain. I was begging for pain meds, but they didn't give me anything until I was out of recovery and in my room. Was given morphine and had a horrible reaction to it. Vomiting and dizzy and miserable. Ever since then I have been terrified of having surgery. I had to have knee surgery a few years ago and I was a mess for the few weeks leading up... I just don't want that kind of pain ever again...... So yeah, now I'm freaked out about pain.

I just got the 2oz custard for right after. Then I got 4oz prep bowls with lids for further out. They have them as a set of 8 of the small bowls and a set of 4 of the prep bowls at target.

I know the Isopure I can do. Going to look at the unflavored unjury to add to sf drinks and the unjury chicken. The pain is really what gets me. My surgery was 12 years ago. And I still have nightmares about the pain. I'll have to let then know no morphine and my fear of pain. But hearing your comments has helped relax me some. Though after my knee surgery I was chewing on the breathing tube. More like gnawing. And I was hitting on all the male nurses... Guess I'm a flirt all doped up.

How did you decide on your doctor?
Heyher replied to newme31's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went with the person who did my moms surgery. 3000+ surgeries and he is awesome. Always felt comfortable with my decision. -
Depends. No one can give a concrete answer. Some people are approved same day. I am on month five of waiting. But you can call your insurance yourself and ask. No need to wait for doctors office. :-)

Yay fellow February sleevers!!!!!!

Fish lip smile and deuces. Don't forget the sepia feature for artistic impression and trucker hat for authenticity. :-)

Are you getting daily vitamins? Because nutrients are so small soon after surgery, you should take the multi vitamin and sublingual b12.

Cheri I love reading your posts. I can relate on so many levels. And your post op insight has really helped prep me for what I may deal with. Yeah it will control how much I eat, but I will need to track what I eat. Not quantity. But make myself be accountable for every bite I put in my mouth. -
Big congrats to you!!!

The :: is supposed to be an emoticon. I noticed some of the animated ones don't show up on the mobile version. They weren't calling people wacko, I don't think. -
Just started the processes to get sleeved

It all depends on your insurance requirements. You may have the 6 month diet, or you may have to provide 5 years weight history with documentation of morbid obesity. I would look at your coverage documents or summary plan description. Then call the surgeon to find out what type of clearance you need. Get the letter clearing you for surgery from your PCP and have them state medical necessity. Good luck!!! :-) -

When you log into myuhc look for the benefits and coverage tab. There should be a link on that page to your plans coverage document. -

If you are set up through myuhc.com then I think the coverage documents should be on there. -

I am fighting UHC also. I didn't have the 6 months supervised diet. But I have been denied a few times. I'm gunna keep fighting and hope for them to rule in my favor. If my last appeal is denied then I will self pay, but I'm doing in the states. Most surgeons here do offer self pay pricing, and if that's the route you choose, it's worth looking at Mexico and the US. I looked into Mexico, but I prefer to have it done here. It's a personal choice and no one can make it for you. But I would do the 6 month diet while looking at options. That way if you choose to keep going with the insurance, you already have that started. And if not, then you have already started training yourself for the healthier life post op. Also read your coverage documents. It should state in there if the diet is required. If its not and they used that to deny you, then you possibly have grounds for an appeal, complaint, grievance, ect. I wish you the best luck on your journey!!!! -
Simply amazing and so inspirational. Biggest congrats to you!!
