FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
Heyher replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well here I am. Sleeved. No major pain. Really just discomfort. Gunna try to walk soon. But all in all much better then I thought. Yay sleevers!!!! -
You guys are lucky!!! I don't get to check in until 3:00!!! Standard clear liquids all day today. Then nothing after 7:00am tomorrow!! I'm gunna be grouchy!! LoL!!!!
-
I'm tomorrow as well. Clear liquids today. Feeling pretty nervous as well.

So I keep reading on here how GasX helps with gas pain. I am struggling to find documentation on how GasX helps absorb the Co2 they pump in you. Most of what I have read on line states that it is actually pain from nerves being displaced in the diaphragm due to the pressure of the Co2 and is not actual gas. So do the GasX really have a medical benefit or is this more of a placebo effect?

They moved me from Monday to Tuesday. Still only a few days away.

When I started looking at self pay I looked at Mexico, surgeon I started with, other surgeons in my state, and surgeons in states close. I talked with ALM and R4C. Also talked with several office people here in my area. I am paying 17k for mine. I could pay less in Mexico, yes. But for my personal decision I went with the doc I started with. He did my moms bypass so I know his level of post op care. My mom was running a fever and in a lot of pain a few nights after she came home. He made her go back to the hospital and met her there. Not a NP or CPA. He personally went in at 1:00 in the morning to check in on my mom. In the states or MX, that is a decision that only you can make. Be diligent with research. Ask questions. Follow what your head and heart tell you.

Don't forget to take this to the hospital
Heyher replied to himalaya62's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital has private rooms thankfully. But the pillow is a great idea. I will pack a bag for my fiancé to bring with once I'm out of recovery. I will make sure it has a small pillow for my tummy, slippers, robe, and a pillow from my bed. -

17 days for me. Still seems surreal that this is happening. -
Well I got the final no from my external review. According to my insurance and employer I have not been fat enough for long enough. I can't understand how they deny just because I have had a small handful of successful short lived attempts at weight loss. Comorbidities, family history, and health issues don't mean squat. I asked for an exception from my employer and was told no exceptions of any kind are permitted at any time. I am handling it a lot better then I thought. In December when the massive CF of confusion was happening, I decided I would pay myself if I was denied. Lots of emotions the past few months. But I have my goal. I am no longer fighting. I can finally focus with a clear mind at what is happening and how my new life may look. Part rant part relief. All peace and joy.
-
Thank you. After all the stress and sadness, I can finally focus on the goal. Good luck with your approval!!! Hope they play nice with you!!!

Been working since basically July to get my surgery after debating about WLS for most of my 20's. I got an email today confirming 2/25 at 7:30 am with my preop Friday 2/15. Up until today it has been a goal. Something to focus on. Now that I have it I'm freaking out!!! Now I'm really having those thoughts of can I do this? Can I commit for the rest of my life? What if there are complications? What if I don't wake up? What if??!?!? Ahhhhhh!!!!!
-
Thank you. I'm going through with the surgery. I'm in disbelief that I am scheduled because for so long I have been offering support while waiting my turn. Now that its my turn I can't calm myself. LoL!! 19 days away. Just keep it together for 19 days.

Abdominal ultrasound scared!
Heyher replied to yologirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Radiologist are not allowed to give any type of diagnosis info. Even if they did see something they can't tell the person. But sounds like they were following procedure and are sending it to the correct people. Similar to X-ray, they take the pic and the doc gives the results. -
wedding dress shopping
Heyher replied to sarahp_newme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get a corset back. They can size up or down almost two sizes. I'm getting married in Oct. surgery on 2/25. Dress shopping 3/30. I have an idea of where I will be since I have lost weight before and have an idea of what size ill need. -

People's comments and frustration they can cause!
Heyher replied to misslady's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think almost every person on this board has the roller coaster of emotions. And adding concern about family fears can be overwhelming. One day you feel so confident and you are so sure it's the right decision. Next day you are wondering if it really is the right choice. And the what if can creep in.... I really think those emotions are normal and when you are struggling with those, negative comments can cause even more doubt. Just remind yourself why you decided to do this. Live a longer life and be healthier and enjoy a much better quality of life. Sounds like the people you needed the most support from are going to be there for you. The people that matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.
