    Midoctor

I had my surgery there with Dr. Garcia in June. It is a small hospital but it has everything you need. There's even a small sandwich shop type cafeteria on the first floor across from the pharmacy I believe. In case you bring someone with you. The room I stayed in had two beds. My husband was able to stay in the room with me. It had a small flat screen TV. It also had a window and a private bathroom. Very clean. I had a good experiance with the hospital and Dr. Garcia and his staff.

    Soy Protein

I do not have a NUT so I am hoping someone can tell me whether or not soy protein is a good choice or if I should stick with the whey protein. Does anyone know? Thanks.

    Soy Protein

I eat chicken, beef, and alot of greek yogurt. When I see that I am not going to make it to my protein goal for the day I will drink a protein shake. It is usually a whey protein (body fortress) shake. I have to force it down b/c I don't like the taste. So I heard that the soy protein shakes taste much better, but I know that some proteins are not good for us or should I say our bodies absorb some proteins better than others. And was wondering if soy protein was a good or bad choose. I hope this makes sense

    June Sleevers! Hows It Going?

I was sleeved June 27th. My highest weight 302. The day of surgery I weighed 285.5 Today I weighed 231. Total weight loss 71 lbs. Went from size 24 to size 18. I have 56 lbs to go to goal. Yeah!!
  8. I am a cafeteria manager for a local elementary school. I had my surgery this summer. I've lost close to 45 lbs since school let out. This was the first week back. I was walking around the cafeteria at lunch talking to the kids asking them how lunch was and how their summers were. When a student said Ms. Luce you look like you've gotten taller. LOL Priceless!!! Just thought you might enjoy a little laugh.

    What I Ate Today!

I am 2 months post op I had a 100 calorie 6 pro frappuccino, 160 cal 11 gr protein greek yogurt , 60 cal 2 pro pudding and another Greek yogurt for dinner 160 cal 11 pro. Not so good. 4 cups water and all my vitamins
  10. Sorry I accidentally hit the post button to soon. I wanted to tell you my relationship with food is totally different now. I have control not the food. The sleeve is a tool that helps you take control back. I look at food totally different. The way I feel about is so different. It's been said before on here "I eat to live now and I don't live to eat" anymore. Good luck on your journey and don't let your so called "best friend" scare you off from making the best decision of your life.
  11. Wow! I can totally relate. I had the same exact feelings that you have with food. I was so scared to part with food. I mean it was always there when I needed it in the good times and the bad. I could go on and on. It was my best friend! I knew I wanted to get healthy but i didn't know if I could emotionally handle not having the food whenever and wherever I wanted it. I lost a lot of sleep over it. I had my surgery in Mexico 6/27/12. From the start things moved very quickly. Since you don't have to jump through all the hoops that people w/ insurance do. So when I started the process it only took 2 weeks to have my surgery and that was because I had to do the pre-op diet to shrink my liver. The closer the surgery got the more nervous I got. There was no turning back. Here I am 6 weeks out. I am so happy that I didn't let my so called "best friend" keep me from making one of the best decisions I've ever made.

    2 Months Out

You look wonderful!! I was sleeved 6/27 my weight was 285 the day of surgery, today I weigh 263.Total 22lbs My total weight loss including preop diet is 39 lbs.
  13. I'm 5 wks Post op and I am feeling the same way. In a way this is good but in a way it is bad. I haven't lost any weight in about 1.5 wks. I am not getting my protein in or my calories. The protein shakes make me gag and so does the greek yogurt. these are the main way I was getting my protein. I have tried lunchmeat, beans, etc... it just seems I can't get enough in to count for anything. So I know exactly what you mean. I hope it gets better for you and in a way it's nice to know I'm not by myself.
  14. That sounds great! I am much more aware of how I am feeling while I am eating since this has happened to me. I hope I can prevent it from happening again. Do you think that the further you get the less likely it will happen?
  15. Whoa I'm in my 4th week post-op, I ate about half a small piece of tilapia. I started feeling full up to my throat. I stopped. I tried to burp couldn't do it. I kept waiting for it to go down. It just wouldn't go. This is gross, I have heard of slimming or dumping but i was trying not to have this happen. Well it happened. I'm wondering what I did wrong. The only thing I could think of was that I took 2 little sips of water right before I ate. Were did all that slim come from? Anyone else have the same experiance?

    Hello All. First Post!

You're doin great! I was sleeved June 27th and I've lost 14 lbs since the day of surgery. My ticker says 30 lbs but that's b/c it includes my highest weight before my preop diet. Of course I wish it would come off quicker too. Take care
  17. I am guessing that what happened to me was slimming b/c I tried to wait it out to see if the tilapia would go down but it just wouldn't so, this is gross but I had to run to the bathroom and when I threw up it was a bunch of slime that came up first then I threw up the fish. I am assuming that was what is called slimming. IDK. It was not the normal throw up. I hope it doesn't happen again for sure.

    June Sleevers! Hows It Going?

I was sleeved June 27th My highest weight was 302 after pre-op diet I was 285.5 my current weight is 272 Total amount lost 30lbs. Looking forward to getting into the 260's then the 250's etc... My goal weight is 165-175 Wishing everyone the best in their weight loss journey!
  19. I think I may have ate to fast. It tasted really good. I was excited because the fish had 20 Protein in it. I've been getting most of my protein from shakes and greek yogurt so I thought this would be a great way to get my protein in. I will try it again next week. I still have to figure out my signal. As far as portion sizes it really just varies on what it is that I'm eating. I can eat a cup of greek yogurt. This morning I ate 1 cup of chex Cereal and 1 cup of milk. On the other hand I made the ricotta bake and I could only eat 1/4c-1/2c. Refried Beans same thing. I can eat 1 string cheese which fills me too. Yhanks for the responses!
  20. I am going into my 4th week (my surgery was 6/27) I felt the exact same way as you. I was very frustrated that I felt hungry and began to wonder if they didn't take enough of my stomach out. But cheri is right when you start the soft food diet you will know that you've been sleeved. Just yesterday I had to force myself to eat so I could get all my protein in. I am not hungry like I was in the beginning. I have lost 11 lbs since the day of surgery. I feel like that isn't as much as I thought I would lose but I am not letting that discourage me b/c I know it will come off it has to I am only eating 500-700 calories a day. Try not to be discouraged it will all work out give it another week or 2 you will feel better. By the way I read a lot of cheri's post and she has a lot of good advice. Take Care
  21. I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time. I know what you mean about the sweet liquids. Look at it like medicine, you have to take it to feel better. It will not last forever (even though it feels like it) The first few days after surgery I almost felt like I was mourning real food. i even felt depressed. It will pass and once you have a routine you should feel better. you will have to basically force yourself to drink enough liquids. You don't want to get dehydrated then you will have to go back to the hospital. Sip on broths gatorade, decaf tea w/ splenda if you can't drink it w/o (hot or cold), crystal light, apple juice etc..I hope you feel better.

    Missing 'real Food" Terribly

I'm on day 14. I have felt the same way. It's been tough. The first week clear liquids. Second week full liquids It took me a couple of days to figure out how to get the protein in. I couldn't do the shakes anymore so I made my own smoothy -- 1 cup plain greek yogurt 23grams of protein, 1Tbsp of sugar free preserves whatever flavor you like a splash of milk and 2 pks of splenda more if you like it a sweeter. Blend in a blender. Thats how I get my protein. 3 smoothies a day 70 grams og protein . It's very filling and tastes good. Some people might not be able to drink it all. Now I'm starting the home soft diet were the motto is" If you can chew it don't do it" I have to figure this one out now if anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thanks! I wish everyone the best on there journey to a healthier lifestyle!
