I have been overweight the majority of my life, beginning at age 5 and at my current age of 35, considered morbidly obese. I am only 5 foot tall and reached my highest weight of 305!! After years of going back and forth with the idea of doing WLS, I finally decided it was my only chance to finally get control of my weight and now was the perfect time to do so. I have 4 amazing children....a 13 year old son, 6 year old daughter, 4 year old son, and a 2 year old daughter. I have been married for 15 years to a wonderful husband and we have had a blessed life so far. However, I felt like I wasn't really living to my full potential and was actually causing my kids to not live theirs. I couldn't take them to amusement parks, or certain events because I was too big to fit in the rides and sometimes too big to fit in the chairs. I would tire easily and just didn't have the energy to keep up with them. We spend the majority of time at home or window shopping at the mall but really nothing else. Did I want my kids to grow up resenting me for not letting them experience anything or worse end up like me, obese and watching life pass them by? In January, I attended a WLS information session available at the hospital that I work at and made a decision to go forth with having the surgery....and on June 21, 2012 I finally had my sleeve done. I am now only 3 weeks out and still am having lots of trouble getting my water and protein in but I have lost 30 lbs and know that eventually I will be able to start enjoying life and hopefully teach my kids what's it like to really experience life. I am planning on taking them to Disney World next summer and can't wait to finally be able to get on the rides with them and have enough energy to keep up with my four amazing children.
