    Best Blender?

ninja, ninja, ninja...turns ice into snow, its small, and you can turn protein drinks into milkshakes, you can get one at walmart for under 30.00, you won't be sorry its my favorite thing in the kitchen by far!
  2. Thank you sweetsusie sounds easy...do you add any protein powder to it?
  3. I know they say that Bougie size doesn't matter  no pun meant, well maybe just a little...LOL but what size did Dr. use on you?
  4. This sounds yummy can we have your recipe?
  5. Thank you everyone for your input  I'm going to ask the Dr. to call me and try to get a more detailed answer, also ask more detailed questions. When I woke up from surgery and also the next day I was so devastated and depressed I neglected to ask the correct questions. We will all get there soon!
  6. I'm with you chilihot I love love love the sugar free slurpee's!!!
  7. You look maaaaarvelous darling !!! keep up the good work!!!
  8. donniej, how severe are we talking here? was the erosion to the inside of your stomach? did you have infection? I can't help myself, sorry, I'm just so curious, it's just my nature to try to figure things out LOL!!!
  9. Silviamom, We have talked before, was your erosion to the interior of your stomach?. I have been looking for stats on this, and find in some journals that some say we should be healed by 6weeks to 3months. I'm having a hard time understanding why I was told 6months?. When they staple and remove your stomach you are completely healed within 6 / 8 weeks. I'm a nurse and to tell you the truth I can understand 6 months, to a yr if the erosion was to the inside of the stomach and Dr had to retrieve the band and then repair the damage, and in those cases there would most likely be infection, which is life threatening. I have read about this very thing, but mine was just under the band and not to the interior of the stomach, and no infection. I have read that when they make their staple line its up to the placement of where the band was and then around it they go anyway, because scar tissue is porous and not very viable tissue (its not fed with much of a blood supply). Pegsinthewoods, I did read about your troubles and man you had it ruff, I think I touched on it slightly above, and I surely sympathize. Somehow I think in my case my Dr was / is just overly cautious? Any other thoughts? maybe I'm trying to hard to reason this, because I'm impatient?

  13. Hi Az sunshine, I to am in the beautiful sunshine state, I live in Show Low in summer and San Tan Valley in winter. Where are you at? My surgery date isn't until the end of Oct as I am a revision from band to sleeve. Unfortunately my band eroded and could not be done at the same time. My Dr. will be Dr. Ponce De Leon and I am getting very excited about it and would love to have a local sleeve buddy, are you game? You can PM me if you like my name is Debbie.

    Preparing For Cancun

Good Luck to you, I went to Mexico June 26th for a revision from band to sleeve but alas all I received was the band removal as I had erosion... On a good note I will get my sleeve the 1st part of Nov. Here's my list. PASSPORT!!! Bring a list of all your medications that you are taking. Camera Shampoo and Conditioner, blow dryer, Leave your jewelry at home. So what I can tell you is that bring some wash cloths as my hospital didn't provide them. I brought some thank you notes for the Dr.s and nurses that cared for me. Make sure you will be traveling with some roomy clothes and flip flops as you may have allot of swelling, in your abdomen and feet. Bring a wireless bra for comfort as you will have a surgical opening at the sternum. Bring about 100/150 dollars in cash for anything extra that you may need. ( ask the Dr to give you a supply of something for nausea ie:Zofran) ( ask the Dr to give you a supply of something to prevent gall stones ie: actigall or ursodial ) ( liquid prevacid for acid reflux) you may need that 100 dollars to buy the above meds, or you may have a follow up Doc. to write a script at home? Just remember to take a deep breath and know everyone here will be anxious to hear about your journey, and by the way you probably won't be alone when I went, I met some wonderful people 6 others actually and we had allot of fun walking around and checking up on each other, so have lots of fun and enjoy yourself.

    Recommendation Of Doctors..

Just an idea but have you considered a family practice nurse practitioner? its my thinking and from what I have read is the only thing they do is check your labs every 3 months to make sure your not dehydrated or anemic, or that your vitamin levels are in range, All nurse practitioners work under a Dr. anyway as a backup! so I would just make an appointment for a physical in general and while you are there tell them about your sleeve. Just a thought. If anything goes drastically wrong you would be told to go to the ER anyway right.

    Inexpensive Savory Snack Ideas

I am on a low carb diet waiting to be sleeved in Nov. my favorite savory snacks are pepperoni chips, place on paper towels, cover with a paper towel and microwave on high for 50-60 seconds let rest and they are crunchy and wonderful. I also get asiago cheese or Parmesan cheese grate it and put teaspoons on parchment paper in the microwave for 1min 49/50sec. or until slightly brown let cool and they taste just like crunchy cheese crackers, my other fave is turkey bacon microwaved until crunchy. All of these have high protein and ZERO carbs...enjoy

    Throwing Up

    Are you measuring your food?
  19. I sent this as a personal message because I wanted to know how you felt about dr. ponce de leon? I was wanting to go to him for my surgery however I was unsure because of the language barrier, I know his experience is many years and also he is an instructor for many of the doctors in TJ. Also could you tell me how much the surgery is? How many days did you spend in the hospital and how many in the hotel?. Who is Trish? is she a nurse? you mentioned the nurses were helpful but Trish took care of you. Sorry about all the questions but I had chosen another Dr but his price is 6800.00 and I am trying to justify it as Dr Ponce was my second choice and you are the first person that I have seen on here that has gone to him..Thanks in advance...Debbie

    Increase Protein?

Protein works to turn down the appetite! High protein and low carb (around 30) and a lifestyle of regular exercise, decrease blood fats and maintain lean tissues while burning fat for fuel . Carbs/Sugar is converted into glycogen by the liver, when your liver can't hold any more it is then released and stored in the body as fat. ie: The more protein we eat the leaner we get / the more carbs we eat the fatter we become... Hope this helps
