Hi UK Cathy! I don't think 57lbs is bad at all that's 9.5lbs a month!!! at that rate you will be at goal in 6 more months, and that seems to be the average around here. So congrats on your success I myself am going to be sleeved on the 22nd of this month, and am curious about your hair loss, have you had any? I am a revision and had my band out June 26th of this year and am really noticing a lot of hair loss now and am really getting worried about more hair loss to come with this next surgery. I personally think its the anesthesia more so than the protein issues everyone talks about.

Sorry to hear that, but can't you just move all of your paperwork to a new surgeon and not have to start over?

Who is your surgeon? there are many people on this site who have had your same surgeon and have already gone through the surgery. What are your specific questions?

Your coordinator should send you a pre-op diet. However some of them are pretty inconstant with most of the pre-op diets that are on this site. I wanted a little more out of mine...mine is 3days of yogurt and water? then clears the day before and nothing after 10pm the night before. So ( as a nurse ) I went on line and found...... Peachtree's surgery and bariatrics manual.... and I really like it...loads of info.....and I like the idea of the 2 week kick start to this surgery! I want to completely detox myself from Carbs prior to surgery and that takes the full 2 weeks!

Don't be scared, there are many people here who have been to Mexico and who can guide you and your fears...You will have to verify this advise with your coordinator but most everyone's pre-op diet consisted of low Carb protein drinks (10mg per drink or less), broth of any kind sugar free Jello, drinks, some have the luxury of getting to crunch celery and cucumbers. The idea is to shrink the liver and to cut out the carb cravings.Deb

I use and have for years the calcium chews from Costco, they come in chocolate or vanilla, reg or sugar free and taste like caramels...yum! and really the price is not bad

Oh my goodness, are you getting nervous? can you tell me what is your pre-op diet look like? Dr. Ponce only has me doing 3days of yogurt and water...If I had to guess he's trying to put in some good flora down the hatch...hahaha...kind of like pro-biotics?

I am one of those who got the band back in 2005. The sleeve was not even offered at that time. The band was sold to you as the CURE for obesity ( I'm a nurse and I believed it) it was told to me that it was a life time thing, yes you have to have fills, but it can stay in you for a lifetime...WOW what a wonderful thing, I can have this put in and get/be skinny for a lifetime....NOT Last year I had the worst pain in my lifetime that lasted what seemed to be forever, but when it was over I discovered I had no restriction, I was sore for about a week but that was it..before I new it I had gained all my weight back, but also I knew I didn't feel all that well anymore. I started to look at getting it out but I had gone to Mexico to have it put in because of my low bmi. Through all of this I discovered the VSG and said HEY thats for me... so simple...get this thing out of me and get the sleeve, so after 6 months of research on June 26th that's what I did...BUT... when I woke up I only had the band removed because my band had eroded...sigh...I was devastated!!! What happened to the LIFE TIME BAND???? I have to say I can not believe they still put those things in people here in the USA? everyone I know who has it has nothing but trouble/damage from that d$*m thing. Not all is lost because on Oct 22 I am going to be the proud owner of my new stomach called Chiquita!!! I am going to beg you to not get the band its a waste of money and when you have to have it removed...yes I said when YOU have to have it removed...you will remember my post and say why didn't I listen to everyone who tried to WARN ME...WARN ME........WARN ME.......WARN ME.......WARN ME..........,WARN ME...........WARN ME.....

Dr. Garcia is/was having a special for 4500. for a virgin sleeve. I think you have to go through a coordinator tho... My Dr, Dr. Ponce charges 5500. but he is the Chief of gastroenterology in TJ Mexico.

My Dr. only wants 3 days pre-op diet yogurt and water
