I've been telling myself that the darker color is associated with the amount of fat and toxins my body is burning and excreting?

I ate a ton of pureed turkey chili (no beans), cottage cheese (with a small scoup of polander sugar free blackberry spread - good fiber), shake or two a day, egg beaters with some fresh shredded parm cheese while cooking.
I wanted tuna and chicken salad, by my doc insisted it was like "apple sauce" and would fall thru the spoon, I just wasnt able to get it to that consistancy and then still have the stomach to eat it.

To the responders on this thread....don't you think it might be wise to hear both sides of the story before you go suggesting to someone that they get a divorce or leave their spouse? No, any woman that doesn't feel supported should obviously start flirting at work and take up sexting with an old fling.
In re. to WLS leading to a higher divorce rate.. you all think it's because the partner who didn't have surgery changing and not liking a healthier spouse? Hmmm me thinks maybe a lot of the partners who have to WLS suddenly feel like they can do better and/or want a little taste of the grass on the other side.
If you are in an unhealthy marriage, get out. If you are in an unhealthy marriage and have an attitude that once you lose a bunch of weight you will then leave... well...

Yes, a week before my surgery I backed out and changed doc's. The only delay I had was getting the one doc to transfer all the info the the other and then doing new doc's 3 week diet again. You're surgery is a LIFETIME decision, whats a few weeks.
-
I had the same exact thing shortly after surgery. It lasted about 6 weeks, and yes my doctor said muscle and nerve endings. I am 2 months post op and am still pretty numb on the left side of my navel. Of course, if you are concerned you should call your surgeons office.
Six weeks?!
Yes, I plan to call them in the AM but I knew some people here would have a similar experience they could share. Thanks.

So minus a little pulling on my left side when getting out of bed, I've been virtually pain free since coming home. However, yesterday I was sitting on the couch for a few minutes and when I stood up I got a SHARP pain in my gut what felt like it was about 1/2" to the left of my belly button (feels just barely under the skin). Ever since then, I get the pain every time I go to stand up and then again once I go from slightly hunched to fully upright. It is a super sharp pain that goes away real quick and ends with a slight burning sensation. I'm thinking muscle, but why now 11+ days out? BTW, that is also the only area that is still numb since the surgery.
Anyone have any idea's? Ever had something similar?

I'll have my visit official visit( Already did intial consult) with dr balette Wednesday any words of wisdom? How are you feeling? How did it take you to get approved etc?
At this stage, I would say get a fresh note pad that you can keep info strictly related to your surgery. Keep a running list of questions for your doc and dont be afraid to write down the answers right as he/she is giving them. Start bookmarking recipes, keep good track of all of your pre-op appt's. Good luck!

Per the US National Library of Medicine....
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
There are many causes of proctitis, but they can be grouped in the following categories:
-
Autoimmune disease -
Harmful substances -
Non-sexually transmitted infection -
Sexually transmitted disease (STD)
Proctitis caused by STD is common among those who engage in anal intercourse. STDs that can cause proctitis include
gonorrhea, herpes, chlamydia, and lymphogranuloma venereum.Non-sexually transmitted infections causing proctitis are seen less often than STD proctitis. The classical example of non-sexually transmitted infection occurs in children and is caused by the same bacteria that cause
strep throat.Proctitis may also be caused by certain medications,
radiotherapy, and inserting harmful substances into the rectum.Risk factors include:
-
Autoimmune disorders -
High-risk sexual practices such as anal sex

So not being able to ride yet is killing me. I'm pain free, but once in a while while in the car and hitting a bump I get some pain (damn fat moving around), so I'm staying off the bike for a while.
What do you ride?
Are you a garage monkey like me? Can't leave well enough alone?
Here is my 2012 Road Glide. 2/1 exhaust, HD Air cleaner and cams I just installed a few weeks ago. Sounds mean with a lumpy idle now and pulls like a train.

Wow' date=' you must have a great policy then! I hope I don't have to wait too long after the 3-month track is done... I have a BMI of 45 with HBP and sleep apnea, so I'm hoping I won't have any problems being approved.
BTW - Congrats on your success thus far! 50 lbs gone in 1.5 months is fantastic!!!!!![/quote']
Yea, I have one of those evil "Cadillac" heath plans.
I gained a pound yesterday!! I got the OK to drink as much Water as i could and I think I drank more than my body could process in one day haha.

Oops and yes aetna.. I actually had surgery scheduled twice (long story) and neither time was there a waiting period. Meet with nut, pshyc, and stress test, that was it. Approval request sent in on June 4th, on June 6th they were calling to schedule me.

Thanks for sharing' date=' jns! Very funny story! (maybe not at the time!)When I first met Dr. Kim I thought to myself "geeze he looks so much older in person!" He looks all young and non-wrinkled on TV and on his website! Makeup and airbrushing aren't just for supermodels - LOL!!![/quote']
He may have had that fixed recently lol.

Hi
I have a aetna and used Dr. Kim as well. I had no wait period other than his preop diet and availability at Baylor Trophy Club where I wanted the surgery. To be honest, I did not care for his personality at all during the two preop appointments. I had heard from people going into this that he didn't have the best "bedside manners" and tried to not let it bother me. Honestly, after the first visit I was mentally picturing myself choking him lol. However, I kept reminding myself that I was looking for the best surgeon with the best stats, not a new buddy to hang out with.
His staff is amazing, this cannot be stressed enough.
When you are ready for surgery, you will not be one of the people on here asking what you can eat and drink. You will have tons of info provided.
As for the surgery, mine went great. Up and walking a few hours later, never got sick, his staff visited a few times while I was there, next day went home and never took anymore meds.
Lastly, he is one of the strictest doc out there. No smoking for a month prior or ever again. liquid diet for 2-3 weeks before, HIS diet. liquids for another 3 weeks after surgery and then on to puree. Again, he is strict, but look up and ask him about his numbers.

I hope you get some good answers to this one.
I personally hate hot dogs, but for the last month I would give my left leg to have one. My wife did preop diet with me... except for the time I drove past 7eleven and saw her inhaling a hot dog!! Now it's stuck in my brain.

The unjury unflavored Protein powder works in most things. I have added it to broth with decent results. With any Protein powder' date=' you are going to have to wait for your coffee to cool a bit before adding the powder because it breaks down over a certain temp. I am a bit of a fanatic over my coffee, so I don't think I would enjoy it with any protein powder in it because it will make it thicker and cloudy. I have traded in my morning coffee for a morning protein shake for the time being.[/quote']Thanks Tracy. This is the first time I've had a coffee, it won't be a regular occurrence, but I felt like this might help me get ummm regular. :-)~

I happen to have a sample of the vanilla, thx for the idea.

My list is everything from the clear diet, cream Soups with the American heart association stamp, strained of all lumps and then the lovely Protein Shakes.
FWIW I didn't care for the cream soups until I made them with milk.

By my count I can Celebrate 9 successes instead of just one' date=' and I dunno about you but when it comes to celebrating, more is better [/quote']I love ur attitude!

I can't speak to your specific situation, but Dr Kim, his staff and the entire crew at Baylor TC are amazing. Read and understand your materials, ask questions when you don't. The ladies at TC will have you up and walking very soon after surgery. Be mentally prepared for this as it is key to a faster recovery. Good luck.
