Well, my surgery day has come to an end. Overall, I'm doing really good I think. It hurts to walk when I have to use the restroom, but everything is going according to plans and all. I have a pain pump full of dilaudid to help me when the pain is at the worst. But I haven't used the meds too much. The pain is bearable at times and I don't want to overuse the meds. I am so excited to go home to my boyfriend and our son - who was throwing up sick when I left for surgery. I hated that he was sick. At least I got to talk to him at bed time.

Thank you everyone. The water has been hard for me to get in as I still have been sleeping alot throughout the day- because of the pain meds.. But I have done much much better for water than yesterday. My pain is still there, but it's getting bearable. I just need my 6 yr old son to realize he needs to be gentle.. -

I'm beginning to get incredibly nervous about my surgery that is finally happening tomorrow! I'm still in disbelief that the time is here. I can't wait to start this new/extended journey. Yet, it's still a little nerve racking. Hearing my son say the words, "I'm gonna miss you, Mommy" made me year up-as I HATE being away from him. However, he is the reason I am doing it! I'm just going to keep moving forward to better myself for me, my son, and my family.

Hi Ashley! Thanks for posting on my blog! Good luck to you on your surgery! My friends are the same way, or they tell me, "you can do it on your own, I'll help you." But, them helping me always ends in a trip to a fast food restaurant where there is nothing very healthy on the menu. There are some friends that will be completely behind you and support you no matter what. They may not agree with it, but they will back you at all times. I'm excited to see your progress after the surgery! Us young ones need to stick together! Keep us posted!

This is me now... Six years. Six very long years of being overweight. It all started my Junior year of highschool when I found out I was pregnant. I become incredibly depressed and ate everything in my path. My boyfriend and I were having problems at the time and my stress got the best of me. We "broke up" for a short 2 months. I put broke up in " " because of the simple fact that we still saw and spoke to each other every day, so i don't really count it as an actual break up. I became very bitter after he graduated that year, while I was still in highschool. He got to go off to college, while I'm stuck in this small town with a baby on the way and only a senior in High School. I tried to make the best of my situation. I thought about adoption for a while, but couldn't go thru with it. So here I was, a senior in highschool and pregnant. I was also taking college courses online as I was able to do half day courses. I gained 60-70 pounds I was pregnant. And I had a C-section, which didn't help matters at all. After my son was born, I lost a little weight, but not as much as I wanted. I got more depressed. I ate more and more. After 6 years, I had gained a total of 120 pounds. That's a whole person. I tried Weight Watchers, Spark People, Counting my calories and only eating 1500/day, and diet pills prescribed by my PCP. Nothing was working long term. I finally decided to do some research online about Lap Band. I found out all the steps you have to take, and next thing I knew, I was signing up for a seminar. I did it!! I took the first step to getting the LapBand Surgery. Tuesday night, I went to the seminar meeting thru Saint Luke's. It was very informational and made me realize that this is definitely the best choice for me. I made my first appointment with the physician for July 18th @ 10am. I am completely ready to start this journey. I am incredibly scared, but excited at the same time. Now, I need the support. My boyfriend does not support the surgery. He thinks I'm taking "the easy way out". But, lucky for me, I have SEVERAL people that support me and are behind me every step of the way. For someone who is only 23 years old and until I had my son, was always pretty small, I have to get my pre-baby weight back! BRING IT ON LAPBAND SURGERY! I'M READY FOR YOU!!!!! This is me when I was 3 months pregnant with my son. I would LOVE to look like this again!

Hello! My name is Stephanie. I am 23 years old and I live about 30 minutes east of Kansas City.I just went to one of the seminars for LapBand surgery this last week. I have been struggling the last 6 years with my weight. When I was a junior in High School, I got pregnant. I became very depressed and ate everything in my path. I gained about 60-70 pounds with my son. The last 3 years, I have been trying to get all this weight off, but have just been very unsuccessful. I'm tired of not being able to run around with my almost 6 year old. I have some people in my life that are truly against me getting this surgery. Mainly,, my boyfriend of almost 7 years and my manager at my job. Alot of the nurses I work with have been nothing but supporting of me. I have decided I am doing something for myself and am being completely selfish. I hope to get to know some of you all!- 1 reply
