I had my surgery in Nov 2003 and I have lost approx 35lbs, most of the weight loss was in the first 3 or 4 months, it is now going very slowly. My surgeon filled the band to its maximum during surgery, so I have not had any fills. I can honestly say that sometimes I don't feel as though I have a band, it seems to be very temperamental. People that know I have had the surgery look at me as if I should be losing weight at a very fast rate, even the surgeon said I should be doing better than I was, so I don't see him any more either. Has anyone else had this experience? or perhaps I should just be grateful for the 35lb loss! All said and done though I am glad I had the surgery, because I feel that I will lose more weight it is just going to be slow. I would love to hear from fellow Bandsters.

Hey Wheeler, I have an appointment with another Dr, I am scared and excited, scared in case he chucks me out of his surgery and tells me to get on with it, and excited because hopefully I am going to get some fills !! I have been on the other site you mentioned. I wish I had access to the net before I had my surgery last year, I would have been better prepared. See ya Janie

How do they work? do they make you feel fuller? what is the best tasting one. I live in Australia so I may not have the variety you guys have in the U.S. Any Aussies out there that could give me some pointers. Cheers Janie 44

Hiya all of you out there, re my previous posts, well today I bit the bullet and went to see my G.P. she has given me a referral to see another surgeon regarding fills, I did not see the point of seeing my original surgeon as he had told me there would be no fills, so tomorrow I will ring for an appointment with the new guy,

Thanks for all your concern and replies out there. I am going to give it a couple more weeks - see how I go, and then perhaps go see the surgeon again. I will let you all know. Janie

Hi Marie, Thanks for the advice, I had not heard of fitday.com I will look at it. I will probably contact my surgeon again and ask his advice on a fill.

Hi everyone, Thanks for your replies. I live in Perth, Western Australia. The surgeon I had did definately say that there would be no fills once I had the surgery. I can't remember what type of band I had fitted. I have'nt seen the surgeon as I got the impression he thought I could do better, so typically I have backed off, I really should pluck up courage and go see him as I would like to know if I have the port in seeing as it has never been used! I didnt know that once I had lost weight the band may not work as well. Trust me am I the only one out there who is'nt getting the follow up. I think I was so grateful that I was getting the surgery and that it was going to be the ultimate "cure" I just went for it, obviously I did'nt do enough research. Hiya Chucks, I am new to this e-mail business so bear with me. I had my Lap Band fitted on the 5th Nov 2003, and so far I have lost 10kg, most of that was lost in the first 3 weeks. My doctor here in Australia fills the band to the maximum in surgery, so I have no fills to look forward to, is this usual? My doctor has also said I should lose around 2kg a week! (which I am obviously not) so I am obviously a little bit concerned. Am I doomed to failure again. Also like some of the other people on these sites, I am still hungry (or maybe I think I am), and also some people expect me to not want to eat beacause of the band (perhaps they think I have had some of my brain surgically altered as well - if only) How can I convince myself and the people around me that I am going to lose the weight eventually.
