Shape_Shifter replied to heatherinoregon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just read your blog and I've officially made up my mind. Kelly & his team. Thank you for taking the stress and not knowing what to expect out of the equation. Your pictures helped alot. Not sure if i missed it but didyou do the barium swallow and get pictures to take home to your doctor? I will speak to Omar next week and put a rush on my passport. Thank you!!!!!!!! -

Good luck! keep us posted on your progress. Hopefully I won't be long now. Leaning towards Kelly just on number of surgeries per day alone. -
Mexico Surgeon - Us Drugs To Take With You

Thank you both. barbdoll--you are right up the road from me. lol i'm in Frederick, md. CJ-did you have to stay in San Diego overnight? I'm hoping to avoid the extra expense. Also, my understanding is the gas pain is from the gas in the cavity, not something that gas-x would help. Am I misunderstanding? -
How Do Doctors Staple/sew?

sorry, i should have been clear. on the stomach he does staple & sew. He didn't elaborate on the exterior. I assumed the glue or staples since the incision holes are small. but that is just an assumption Does Kelly glue exterior? I like the idea of not having to see a doctor when i return. -

emptynester -- was all the medication needed included and did you have to spend hte night in SAn Diego? Another doctor picks up only once at 9am so you pretty much have to be there the night before. did you have a drain? -
Maybe if the area is questionable in safety and that's why they are running so much they just need to have a couple of safe taxi drivers that they can call to take care of the extra guests at the guests own expense. My former boss had this done for her in several countries. Nothing expensive but made sure she was in safer areas, got to do what she wanted and didn't have to worry about the next person picking her up.

i just joined in and i didn't see the post before it was deleted. however, i tried contacting omar last week but the website kept telling me i was missing information (even though i thoroughly checked). Finally, after the 2nd day of trying i called. Omar answered directly immediately, answered my brief questions and emailed me a full package. Any business can have a problem deciding when to say no to keep their clients happy. Hopefully it doesn't come at Omar's expense. i agree with the poster that said if you are brigning extra people they need to know not to ask or take advantage of a situation. i hear alot of excellent things about Omar and hopefully he will learn to say know or to just give the "guests" directions and a pat on the back for them to enjoy themselves so he can focus on the patient. They CERTAINLY wouldn't get that kind of nice service in the states, nor would they expect to! We cant even get a housecall in an emergency let alone someone to take our entourage shopping, gambiling, etc. Here's hoping Omar finds his balance. I will be sure that my support doesn't abuse him either. lol Maybe treat such a nice man to dinner and a beer would be a great idea.

how was your day-to-day experience? I have to be cost conscious so I am thinking about Almanza vs. Kelly. The biggest difference for me is the number of surgeries 10 vs. 3 daily. While it doesn't mean he does a bad job by any means. my husband installed shingles the fastest AND he was extremely good. where others would install slower with problems and skipping nails. lol not that surgery and roofing are the same but i know just because you're fast doesn't mean you're not good. Hope you heal quickly. Any suggestions should I choose Kelly. Also, did you have to stay in San Diego before they picked you up? -
Heat Tolerance - Question For Post-Sleevers
Shape_Shifter replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know this is true. people ask how i can stand the cold with a short-sleeved shirt in the winter. I would "jokingly" say its like a walrus, i got the insulation. The sweating doesn't bother me, maybe because it's not bad since its not my upper body. its the red face and extreme headache and getting sick that bother me. i will deal with the sweat if i can enjoy being outside again. -
Heat Tolerance - Question For Post-Sleevers
Shape_Shifter posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am not morbidly obese yet (34 bmi) but I have an extreme intolerance to heat. Even if I'm not doing anything my face gets so red I look like I'm sunburned, usually ending up in a bad headache. Even worse if I am exerting myself. Usually takes several hours to cool down and loose the sunburned look. I've only developed this over the last 10 years. Anyway.....has anybody seen any improvement with heat tolerance after surgery/weight loss? I've always assumed its because of my increasing weight, but after a day like today, I'm hoping this is one of the things that should resolve itself after surgery. -

i see your surgery coming up. Good luck with everything. I am considering Almanza and would love to hear your opinion as you go through it. Hoping to schedule surgery for mid-late August. -

My First 10 Lb Loss Is Bittersweet

Dont feel guilty. You didn't create the problem for her anymore than she did for you. I'm sure she's happy for you. I'm sure she wouldn't want you to feel guilty, but to enjoy your success. be there for her and maybe some of the changed eating habits will help her. lower carbs, sipping water, etc. good luck and congrats! -
Heat Tolerance - Question For Post-Sleevers

Dorrie -- you had similar stats to my own so that gives me some hope. you look great!. may i ask how quickly the weight came off? I so want to loose 20 lbs quickly just to breath again. that's what i've put on in the last 18 months and i can't stand it. i can deal with the rest coming off a little slowly. i can relate to the hot/cold. my husband is normal weight. he sleeps on one side of the bed with a heating blanket while i'm on the other with a fan. this is year round! i'm hoping once i loose some weight i can go back to spooning like the honeymoon days. i miss that. started looking up Anhidrosis. seems you can sweat just some areas don't sweat in some people. my hair - soaked nothing really upper body except where rolls meet. bathing suit lower body - soaked. i have a physical next week prior to making my journey to mexcio. want to be sure all is well before scheduling my trip. i will talk to him about this but from what i can gather theres nothing they can do except hydrate, stay indoors in ac, etc. maybe once my body has less to cool and i'm drinking Water instead of sodas my body will heal itself? hoping.... -
Heat Tolerance - Question For Post-Sleevers
Shape_Shifter replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First, i see you are a military spouse. Thank you BOTH for serving. My daughter is in the Army but is getting a medical discharge due to injury (stateside). yes i do sweat. not to the point that my back is saturated or anything but usually my scalp soaks my hair (very thick and long hair) and anywhere there are rolls, alot more places than before. lol i am going to Mexico, self pay, once i choose a doctor. i was trying to labor day timeframe so i could take one less day off of work but i'm getting so fed-up, and i have no serious waiting restrictions except for passport, that i'm thinking about just bitting the bullet (once I make up my mind about a doctor). You daughter may like swimming. my son is extremely pale (Irish skin lol) so he didn't like heat much. he ended up loving snowboarding and swimming. don't have to worry about needing to sweat in summer heat for those. swimming is nice, especially in the summer, because it obviously keeps you cooler and there are usually summer swimming programs (at least here). -
40 lbs ago (before officially obese) I tried a personal trainer. kept telling him my feet were hurting and he glossed over it. got to the point i couldn't walk. tried the shots. tried the stretches. tried sleeping with the foot stretcher thingy. doctor said i was too far gone. I ended up having a laser surgery on both feet. some people reported they felt better the next day. took about 30 days before I noticed one moring that i didn't drop to my knees when jumping out of bed in the morning (always gotta go right now! lol). Now I wear the best sneakers, replaced often, with orthodics. if its bad and the typical things are not helping look into the laser surgery. surgery itself is done in an office. worse part about it is the damn shot they give you--you know its in the right place when they literally hit the nerve. **ouch**. Mine has gotten bad because I've put on 40 lbs and recently started a job where i cant wear my beloved sneakers and I'm too vane to wear the beautiful orthotic shoes. I'm going back to wearing sneakers except when I'm at work. Also, invest in good flip flops if you have to wear sandals. nope, not as pretty but they do make some basic looking ones that don't look like they belong on a tourist with black socks. lol \ I'm also hoping that after being sleeved the weight loss will help take the strain off my feet. Good luck.

I would love to wear cute tops again. Even if you find that cute little flowered top in your size it looks like the Botanical Gardens in our size? No so cute when you're being overwhelmed by flowers that bees think their in heaven. lol I have never danced...even at my own wedding (when I was thinner and healty). think i'm going to learn. -

Dont have a date yet. My insurance covers 35 BMI (i'm 34) with co-morbidities (unsure, think i'm still pre-diabetic). Chances are I will be refused. Im going to do this one way or another. If insurance fails I'm heading south of the border. When is yours?
