Roll Call Nurses Being Sleeved ...........
NDN_RN replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So good to see all the nurses out there ready to make the change. As the natural nurturers we are, many times we suffer for it. Long hours, physical and mental stress. We eat the wrong things, too exhausted to exercise and take care of ourselve. Well, Nurses, WE ARE WORTH IT! Looking forward for my surgery date, almost nervous it may not happen. good luck and prayers to St Catherine Siena, Patron Saint of Nurses, for everyone's health and speedy recovery. -
Keeping my mouth shut :-x. I have heard only good things about approvals from my insurance. Had my first consultation June 26 and hope to be sleeved by end of Sept. but anything can change at any moment with insurance companies.

I had the blood test and it came back positive yesterday. Today I had my upper GI endoscopy, gastroenterologist told me I have gastritis, but the confirming biopsy will come back on Monday. My surgeon called in a prepac which costs over 500 dollars! My co pay was about 235.00. Luckily, I am an RN and realized the ripoff and refused it at the pharmacy. i called the nurse and told her to order the 2 antibiotics and the prevacid seperately and in generic. My co-pay dropped to 27.00 the drucg company can keep their tidy little Prevpac and I'll keep my money. This should clear up before i finish mt 3rd nutrition visit in sept.

Ust gojt my labs back. i have H Pylori! I never would have guessed. So 2 weeks of antibiotics and that's it. Luckily I cant finish my requirements until Sept 6 with my last Nutrition visit. Lets hope my Upper GI endoscopy goes well tomorrow.

Did Atkins for 2 yrs and boom...stopped working too. Their bars gave me terrible gas and diarrhea. But I liked a lot of their foods.

I only paid 25 co-pay for psych eval. Nutrition visits not covered! 3 visits will be costing me 330 dollars.

54 here. Working on my reqs hoping to sleeve in Sept. Glad to meet you ladies!

Had my upper GI endoscopy today.. They found gastritis, probably from the H Pylori. The biopsy will be done by next Tuesday. I never would have known. Like that activia commercial, I just thought it was my normal!

Oh yeah, seems everyone wants their co-pays ahead of time. Hospital bills, because they want to make sure of the reimbursement, and stuff happens which could prolong your stay.
-
Outpatient? lucky. I have to stay in 2 days, that's 300.. Also basic states only one 150 copay to surgeon, everyone else is covered
-
Great! Did you do the 3 nutrition visits?
-
I have fed bcbs how long did your approval take after submission?
-
Upper GI was ordered before the positive h pylori. I don't recall any recent illness, i may have had this for a long time. I am a nurse and know a lot about this. One thing that irked me, my drs office called in for a PrevPac instead of ordering each medication seperately and in generic form. This PrevPac was OVER 500 dollars and my insurance would only cover about half. I refused it and will demand that it be ordered seperately and generically. If it was ordered as amoxicillin, metronidazole and prevacid otc, it would cost me less than 50 bucks. That's nuts. i am pretty mad.

Have been watching a lot of youtube video blogs and notice a lot of people do a lot of lip smacking, as if to kswallow saliva between sentences, subtle, but I noticed. A little disturbing. Am I imagining this?

Well, if we do, we can start a new topic. Sleeve-smackers...LOL!!!

Oooohkaaay. Will have to dial down the radar a few notches. I thought it might have to do with not being able to swallow normally due to decrease stomach size.
